I've been playing for 73 hours, and I legitimately can't say for certain that I'm close to the end of the game. Definitely getting my money's worth out of this one...

It was also nice loading up the game post-patch and having 9 extra ability points to play around with. Level 3 Spartan Kick is actually pretty good, after I ignored using the ability for 50 hours of playtime.

I have been playing (couldn't wait anymore.. I think I won't regret it) and isn't there an athenian camp in Phocis? Because of the "war tutorial" I thought in each province there would be like a camp where the non-controlling side is located. I only have the mountain range in Phocis to see but I haven't found almost any athenians...

The camp shows up after you've weakened the region.

I'm glad they let us choose who to play as. Whenever I play a game with choices, I'd rather play as a male character. Syndicate was different as there was no notion of roleplay and in this case I agree Evie was a better character than Jacob.

However Alexios became my favorite protagonist since Ezio and if they continue making more rpg focused games, I really hope they'll always offer us the choice as who to play with.

Same here, and I would 100% play the game also if Kassandra was the only main character and I would enjoy the hell out of it also (and I prefered Evie to Jacob in ACS and was playing her a lot more in that game). But with a game that its finally starting to turn into a choices RPG, the way they should always go forward is this. Give the player a choice. In fact, for the next one, apart from having the designed by the team characters, I would love to have a face creator.

I should also say that I would prefer to have both of them in the cover and marketing equally.

It's a shame Ubisoft wasn't brave enough for it tbh

I'm still annoyed that ALL of the marketing has Alexios. All the title screens, guidebook cover, game cover... just everything.
Kassandra is such a great character and yet they were too afraid to make her the face of the game.

And of course Alexios features as the default cover. Gotta reverse it yourself if you want to have the actual canon protagonist (of the official novel at least) as your box art.

No reversing the "cover" with digital. (I really wish that was a thing.)

It kind of feels like they're scared to make a mainline AC game where you play as a female with no other choice. Odyssey absolutely feels like it should have been Kassandra's game and it would arguably be better if they just focused on one character. Evie also could have carried Syndicate but they they only made half the game for her. We did get Liberation but that's a PSP spin off that barely anyone played

Yeah I fully agree with this. I get giving players choice, but it makes more sense to me, when you're dealing with 1 character and you don't have this weird flip flopping of relationship to another character (ie kassandra being the oldest vs being the youngest).

If you tell me X character is the canon version of the story, then that's who I'm going to play as. And yeah Kassandra should have been on the cover, and all over the marketing material, specially if she is the canon storyline.

So huh... I finished the three Odyssey big questlines... Is there really no "true" ending? Like nothing that attach those three conclusions and gets you to end credits? The fuck...

Transmog is a godsend, now Ubi just needs to make a real Assassin outfit so I can never take it off. Yes, I know it's ancient Greece. Yes, it predates the Assassins. I still want it, man.

I want Kassie rocking the white and red with some damn pants. The Pirate's set and Tracker's set sorta works for pants, but the caligae still make it hard to get that real look.

Do you have the Pilgrim's set? It doesn't have pants (note that pants were very much looked down upon in Ancient Greece; they were the mark of a barbarian) but it does have the iconic white/red assassin look.

I'm not surprised. Origins had no credits either.

It's weird, but on the plus side, you don't have to deal with never-ending Ubisoft credits!

Hah true enough tho I know a bunch of people in there so it's always nice to spot them.

Not that I really cared about the story (I started skipping all the dialogue roughly 25 hours from the end lol) but it would have been nice to get some kind of closure.

Finally beat the game and all the side quests after 170+ hours. I had a really good time with it.

A little OT, but I'm seeing AC Origins for $24 currently, is that the lowest it's been?

Did they uhhh... change LoD again on PS4? It looks notably worse for some reason. Like. A LOT worse. I remember a bug in Origins too

maybe my console is dying

edit. Never mind. Changing time of day a few times seemed to fix it. Strange

It's a huge bummer that the Project Stream save file can't be transferred over to a purchased copy of the game

Got back to playing this as I was waiting for this big patch to come out before continuing (played some Warhammer: Vermintide 2 in the meantime - excellent co-op game!). Loving the transmog options! I finally don't have to live with bulky, cartoonish armour! Here's my Kassandra now:
45917484851_03afdd8b95_h.jpg

Also, fought the Erymanthian Boar. I can see why that's a super annoying fight. Got wrecked the first time due to the poison, but then annihilated it the second try in 14 seconds due to my 50% crit chance, +330% crit damage assassin build. Here's my video of that short fight:

Where are the visual customization/transmog options at? I thought I had read that it's done in the menus themselves, but I don't see any options when I select any of my gear. I must be an idiot and am missing something super in my face lol. On PC of that matters. Thanks.

It's an option when you hover over one of the equipment slots in the inventory menu. You press square on the PS version and the transmog menu pops up.

NOOOO. I finished the 'main' story

I think I got a bad ending?! The mother died. That's actually so upsetting

I tried to make good choices. Father was alive. Didn't kill that asshole of a step-brother (admittedly I wanted to so bad). And always chose the best options regarding the brother. Well except one during that battle with the fire. Wanted to just kill him there but I got captured instead

Then at the ending he hugs the mother and puts a sword through her back. And I gotta kill him anyway

So essentially Kassandra is all alone at the end. Which is sad. I'm like 68 hours in with her as the main character. Didn't want to see that.

Anyway. Aside from the cultist and the 'other' quest-line, is there anything else important I should do post-game? I haven't explored all the islands yet so dunno if there's anything special there. I'll get around to it eventually

I think I got it for 15-20 during the e3 sale, and then adding some upoints. I dont remember correctly though becuase I bought every AC from black flag to origins so i could play 3 and all of those last summer.

that means you did the prison scene with Deimos wrong. It happened the same to me, kinda stupid that one scene with lots of different answers that really read like the same can fuck up your ending.

You'll need to explore some islands for the other main quests.

The poster chose the "wrong" path in the fire scene. Or does that one not matter?

Anyhow, getting the "best" ending is overrated.

Where is the "quest board"? I thought it was the thing on the ship but maybe I'm incorrect. Saw the pop-up about the Cyclops terrorising ancient Greece but can't seem to find the quest to initiate it.

Unless I gotta finish all the main quest lines first?

There are quest boards in each town (the symbol is a black diamond with 3 lines), the Cyclops is on the same island where you upgrade the spear.

Did the epic ship quest expire early? It was no longer active when I loaded up the game yesterday and I could've swore there were still 2 days and some change remaining.

The post launch support has been legit awesome so far to me.

Wondering if the new ship upgrades screwed over people who never got the fully upgraded ship achievement beforehand? That would be kinda crappy lol.

Really like the attention to community wants though. I'm level 53 and still have PLENTY of undiscovered regions and tons of quests left. This game just keeps on going!

Man, what a ride. Finished all three main quests at 139 hours, the last 4 hours of which I decided to get back in the odyssey story after clearing most of the cultists and realising all that's left on the board said I had to progress in the story, so I beat 2 of the 3 main quests then (I finished the third right after I unlocked it, and spent the time levelling up to finish it).

I skipped Origins but I felt the character controlled better, even if my character ended up trying to leap up walls during close-quarter fights from time to time still.
I'm not a fan of the level-scaling, but that's my OCD of making sure i'm always over-levelled in RPGs, and I got over it.

I got the real bad ending though, which hey, Greek tragedy and all, so I was fine. I might wait til New Game Plus shows up just to see what carries over before I sell this, but for now, more than happy and satisfied to move on.

I still remember having the best memories playing the more compact AC Brotherhood, but I had loads of fun, and do think this is the better game.

I need some more help, After the quest on the pirate island, I now have a new Minoan chest to open to finish the location. I still have the key, so no worries. It's after the swindler lady pirate quest line. How to get to that new chest, I want my completion!

Edit. Tagged it with Ikaros but man...not a single guide online for this one. They all only cover the first chest you need to get for the pirate lady. This is starting to get infuriating.

Edit2. Shit I think it was the quest chest. Must be a bug. Oh well, I'll enjoy the free loot from your sloppiness Ubi haha!

Edit 3. HOLY FUCK. Was in spartan base. got caught. tried to run. THREE fucking mercs popped at once. 2 with beasts with them. No way I can survive. Base is outside a field. Every single goddamn farmer except this one asshole that looked like he was smoking ran the fuck up and fucking murdered all of my foes. I sat there slackjawed, as a bunch of RE4 normal enemies tore apart a Spartan leader and 3 fucking mercs plus a bear and a lion. I LOVE this goddamn game. so much. This is my gaming moment of the year. Flat out.

That feeling when you kill 3 captains and 2 mercs at the same time but die to a common soldier in the end...

So this weekend I decided to say fuck it and just finished the Family quest line
I didn't use a guide and I thought that I was going to get a bad ending but instead I got what seems like the super duper happy one? Managed to convince Deimos that we were his family all along (that part with the music made me cry, Myrrine felt so relieved and the little touches when they hugged... Damn!
And then the dinner scene with all the family (including Stentor) having a good time and then I got them all as crew for the ship and all of them had something to say about it~
It was super sappy but I loved each second of it... Myrrine kind of deserved it for all the shit the story threw at her.

Also since I already did my work and explored the world and hunted all of the Cult of Kosmos members (the ones in some Islands I just went to kill them but didn't do any of the quests there and saved them for later~) I also got to do the ending of that story.
The scream I let out when I saw the Pyramids and then all the locations from all the Assassin's Creed games so far... DAMN! and while I saw the twist of Aspasia being the Ghost coming ever since she told Kassandra about a code only used by members of the Cult (how do you know that?) I was legit impressed at how much she managed to talk her way out of the situation because I let her go... only to read with detail later all the "whispers" and realize that she basically lied to me 80% of that time but hey! Historically she managed to live quite a lot of years so there is that!
Now to explore more of Makedonia and then to do some island hopping~

I have heard that Odyssey has more First Civ content than every before, is that true? I'm actually in kind of a bind, I'll be picking this up for Black Friday but I haven't actually played any AC games since 4, so I have NO IDEA what the heck is happening with the Modern Day story or even the First Civ/Juno etc. Is there anything I can read to catch up that doesn't spoil anything in Odyssey? I feel the wiki has all the new info already :/ Someone posted some audio dialogue from Origins regarding the First Civ and I was totally blown away by the pivot they've done to the story and all the implications.

Layers of simulations, omg

It does... will love to detail more but idk how much you want to get spoiled =P but as a fan of the First Civilization lore this game made some pretty cool things with that aspect.

mmmmmm, idk if there is a place that is compiling all the crazy things happening in the modern day because most of the modern day plot threads from IV, Rogue, Unity and Syndicate were wrapped up in a comic and the story of the modern games is now mostly following Origins, the movie and Odyssey so far and they all dealing with that thing you spoiled... so yeah.

If I found something I will @ you later tho!

Some of the sidequests are pretty banal but man, some of them are actually great.

I just did the theater one in Euboa and I was really impressed by what the game allows you to do.
I tried to save both of them during the dialogue with the bandits and they killed both of them. So, I reloaded my game and shot the bandits with my bow before triggering the cutscene and the game actually acknowleged that it was an option and the couple survived. It's so good.

Oh man. I should have tried that. That's really cool. I reloaded too and tried to pick different dialogue choices and no luck. :(

I really enjoyed the short time I spent with the PS4 version over the weekend. I took it back to Redbox because my brother wanted his Playstation back, but I'm definitely picking the PC version up if there's a decent sale on it next week. Ubisoft took all the right cues from The Witcher 3 and I hope this is how they continue the series.
