It's 2018 (actually the year is almost Goddamned over) and people are still surprised that Bethesda releases buggy unplayable pieces of shit.

My wife and I love Fallout 4 to death. Mostly for the the base building and the mods. The fact we can play co-op and do that together now is awesome. I could care less about what Jim thinks. He played this one just to shit on it along with other high profile YouTubers. The game definitely has it's usual issues.. Frame drops, buggy enemies, etc. It's still a very fun game. If you intend to play strictly solo, I would pass on it.

I never understand these reactions. If you and your wife enjoy the game, then cool. I don't get the need to come up with zany theories on how youtubers have it out for the game. I'm sure other reviews won't be far off tbh. Either way, it sounds like you're getting some fun out of it.

Fallout 76 is the first full price game I have bought this generation and regretted to the very bone. I say this as someone who loves Fallout 4 and played that at midnight day one. The game is the most broken piece of shit of AAA software I've ever played, I wish I hadn't of bought through CDKeys so I could get my money back. It also has somehow managed to not only look worse than Fallout 4 on the X but also runs like dogshit crashing every 15 minutes. The game itself is pretty underwhelming itself and I wish that was the only problem. Fuck Bethesda.

Some of the outdoor areas during the daytime actually look pretty appealing but everything else looks downright hideous. Interiors, animations, enemy model quality...etc

Combine that with the terrible perfomance. What a combination.

I really don't understand why they didn't make it a full blown out MMO like TES:Online. TES had a rough start but is fantastic now imo. This half assed coop shit is a disgrace to the Fallout Series. Jesus Christ

Thanks for the heads up, I loved FO4 so I'm in the same boat as you. I'll skip this, it sounds awful.

Sounds like they nailed the WV experience. Aimlessly roaming around hearing about things that sounded cool but finding out you'll never experience them here and living in abject boredom doing mindless things while dealing with thirst and hunger merely surviving but never truly living.

sigh...I knew it was making bad design changes but damn this hurts.
Also I need to move to a new state. WV is too dull ...

Wow game can look gorgeous in daylight countryside on PC maxxed settings.

Was loving it. Then game crashed, I lost an unknown amount of progress (when I reloaded I was in a different spot than when game crashed) . And it had changed to night time, which doesnt look pretty.

I was having some fun with the game, I am paranoid of it crashing though. My expectations were drastically in check though (enjoy scenery, fight some enemies, expect no story or interesting missions/quests)

I don't know what to tell you, the writing was on the wall for this game well before it came out. I always assumed anyone who actually bought this just loved the shit out of Fallout and just wanted a co-op experience in that world no matter how bad the actual game is of runs.

If it's any consolation the game with probably be much better in a few months after 10 patches and a bunch of mods.

Hopefully everyone stops giving Bethesda a pass.
Agreed. Its long overdue. The AI has been bad awhile, the combat has always been shit, and now Fallout 76 releases with all this goin on its gonna be the end of people giving a pass. They removed the shit that made people look the other way. Theres noting to look at now to distract you from the bad. It put it alllllllllllll up on a pedestal and said heres all our problems itemized for convenience sake.

And you just know the perk system bein reduced to random card pack luck in spite of how you wished to alot points is gonna mean they'll be selling cards and shit to microtransaction the right to customize your character in the way you wanted to and could in all other titles in the series.

I wonder if you'll be able to buy individual cards or if you'll be limited to buying random packs.

Near as I can tell, the card packs don't really work in a way where selling them would do anything. You seem to get all of the cards just via leveling; I haven't come across any cards that you can only get from the bonus packs. They just seem to serve as free cards that allow you to get perks without needing to use your level-up selection on them.

I loved Fallout 4 and was very closed to buy F76 but the more I watch the reaction/gameplay videos the more I'm glad I didn't buy it. This game is flawed to the core. The things that I loved in FO4 - characters, stories, meaningful quests - are taken away. They even managed to ruin VAT system. How the fuck did they think this is ok? The defense of "But I'm having fun with friends!" doesn't speak of quality of this game at all. Fuck, you can even have fun with friends playing with rocks.

Looks like this is gonna be the first time Bethesda's terrible habit of releasing their games in a severely undercooked state is finally going to bite them in the ass. They're been able to coast through criticisms by sheer scale and shock-and-awe of their games being major tentpole releases, but take away the glitz and glam and you have people ready to take the games for what they are, rather than what they're hyped to be.

I'd crave for a good Sci-Fi or post-apocalyptical MMO from a well known franchise. Heck, the last ten years or so I beg Blizzard to finally make an Starcraft MMO but they don't listen. I think Fallout would've survived a rocky start. There are enough fans out there who would stick to it till the bitter end. Even now we've people who are okay with 76 and that's fine if they find their value in it.

Because that would have meant putting in effort that goes beyond designing landscapes and terrible quests ;)

Jesus, they could have used the last 3 years to make a proper spin-off...in house!

I'm not usually a big Bethesda fan having thought their games had a fairly ugly style for years but this looks awful. Especially when the game is indoors.
Early PS3 bad.

What are you talking about mate? Are you suggesting that some developers get more leeway in their review scores than others?
depends on what letter their name starts with

a broke MMO will always get mocked/complained about and other than network issues on day 1-3 it'd be justified
but this ain't a MMO

The engine has been here since before the days of yore. We have not known a time before the engine of creation and we never will for we are but mortal minds who can never hope to understand the essence of the engine itself. Belief is but all that we have in those days, for blasphemy is being spoken by fools who speak of a different engine, of change of the very essence of the thing itself. These blasphemers can not hope for more than a swift silencing for they do not get to define what the heavenly engine is for the engine is always in change never to be understood by mere mortals.

Spirit of the Engine, hear my prayer,

Guide this Fallout, hold it true,

Let it part their money and their weak wallets,

And crack their cowardly reviewers,

And smite the Creation Engine critics from the Omnissiah's sight.

I'm honestly pretty happy that a Fallout game that doesn't include a major part of what makes Fallout great (dialogue and interactions) is getting shit on.

Fallout 76 had a lot to say when it was revealed. It was multiplayer, it had the largest world of any Fallout, it was going to be fun. The trouble is that it just doesn't work, the world is too big and empty, and the quest design as uninspired as it gets. If the only way for a game to be entertaining is by having your friends make jokes about it as you journey together, then it has failed at one of the things that most games should be. It has failed at being fun, it has failed at being entertaining in its own right. If you want to hang out with some friends in an a post-apocalypse, then just go to a pub and watch the news.

https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2018/11/16/fallout-76-review/

Imagine being that desperate to make something MP/always online just to jump on the GaaS bandwagon, you shit out this.

Tarnishing your own brand and gutting it of the wallpaper (NPCs/proper questing and stories) that did successfully paper over the cracks of your engine in prior games.

I truly don't understand why people are so surprised that they don't like 76 even though they loved FO4 to death, when they aren't even remotely similar to being the same experiences. It's been documented all over the net, even before the game was announced that this wasn't the typical Fallout experience. Even Todd on stage said this was an experiment(Memory is a bit hazy on this tough). Not to mention Youtubers have said time and time again during beta, that there's no story, no NPCs, etc. The only 2 things I can even think of that might carry across is the base building and picking up junk, so if you liked that in 4, then you most likely will enjoy that aspect in 76. I don't see how they could make it anymore clear that this isn't for someone looking for that typical Fallout single player story driven "RPG". This is more like those survival early access games than anything else. I can understand a casual gamer who doesn't use the internet to check up on a game before buying, thinking it's just another Fallout sequel, so that can be a bit tricky.

Because they removed a bunch of stuff and the only thing they actually added was online. But even half of that is useless with how bad the current implementation of the PVP is. Furthermore, if they are gonna strip a game down so much, you'd expect it to at least have better gamefeel. Better gunplay, AI, hit reactions, stuff like that. Unfortunately all that is basically the same as it was in FO4. Hell, some guns have the same glitched animation that they had in FO4.
