1. That tweet is likely a troll not because it asked for a refund, but because it was seemingly created to @ Bleszinski for a refund and that's it.
2. Bleszinski paying severance for his employees is wonderful, especially in light of companies like Telltale.
3. That does not mean that failing to refund people who put money into a F2P game (that then became paid) that shut down after a year is okay. Bleszinski can certainly do it, but that doesn't make it a good practice. It certainly doesn't help people trust the model, and it is an indicator that maybe people should only pay for items or characters or what have you games that are clear hits (like Fortnite). It plays a part in restricting opportunities for games to come into that space by dampening consumer trust.
4. So, no one is really a good guy or bad guy here. Well, except for Mr. Troll trying to start shit months after Lawbreakers shut down. It is what it is. I don't get the idea that gamers, who you can collectively critique for a lot of things, are somehow bad people for wanting to get value for their dollar. That's not entitlement. On the flip side, I wouldn't critique Bleszinski for choosing to pay his ex-employees. I would in that situation. I would also understand that consumers aren't unreasonable in being disgruntled about the value for their gaming dollar that they got (though I also do understand why Bleszinski would react in such a way about a project that blew up like it did rather than being entirely level-headed in his response).
5. I'm most weirded out by the troll account first and then the secondary complaints about, very generally, gamers who want value for their money that has sort of happened with some posters in this thread. The video game business is anti-consumer a large amount of the time, so it's odd that so many people apologize for it when they're on a board full of consumers of video games, and they are consumers as well!
