The game is number 1 on Twitch by the way. Nothing out of ordinary for a popular game day 1, but it's definitely higher than any other Pokémon game previously. Being on a home console with HDMI definitely helps streaming.

Just picked up my copy from Best Buy and excited to jump in.

Question about Mew, if your save gets wiped for some reason after you import him... are you just SOL? No way to get him again? And IIRC Let's Go doesn't support cloud saves.

So if my complaint based on my experience of one shotting every enemy I encounter isn't valid because I'm not a child, does that mean your praise isn't valid because you're not a child? They aimed to make it more accessible and I think (at least based off the game up through the first Gym) they went too far. I went in expecting to be easy, I didn't have unrealistic expectations, but as someone who thought Red and Blue were already easy when I played them as a little child, my opinion of the game so far is that I suspect I would have been bored even as a child.

Seriously, you don't have to agree with me, you don't have to value what I say, you don't have to like me at all, but claiming my perspective is invalid because I have a complaint that you don't have? I didn't drive-by, I didn't flame, I shared an opinion on the early parts of a game that a bunch of us adults are playing and sharing our thoughts on.

I think the game gets a little more challenging past Pewter city (not much mind you). For instance my Pikachu almost fainted during the final battle of Mt. Moon. Now I was not playing optimally at all, but still a little better than 1 shotting everything immediately. You also encounter optional harder trainers, which I imagine could get more challenging later on.

I don't think the game will ever get hard, but I think if you handicap yourself to restrict usage of your starter then it starts getting more interesting.

Hoping to see some impressions of using the Pokeball Plus with Pokemon Go. If I buy one, I'll use it primarily for when I take my dog for a walk, but...

I'm not really interested if it's gonna be a pain to connect it every time. Anyone play around with that multiple times yet? It may seem like a dumb question but can I connect it to my Switch and phone at the same time? How seamlessly does it connect to Pokemon Go?

Does the ball actually add anything to the game (besides the Mew code or whatever)? Is it better with the ball vs the joy con?

From the Ars Technica review:

Worse is its button orientation, which requires a click-down on the joystick to do anything. Imagine a Super Mario game that required clicking down on a joystick to jump, and you're roughly in the Poké Ball Plus' circle of control hell. Bizarrely, this controller includes a much more easily clicked button on its top, but this is assigned to the "B" button (aka cancel), and Nintendo Switch is sorely missing a "reassign" button option, unlike Xbox and PlayStation. Y'all ever heard of accessibility, Nintendo?

Yet I routinely found myself keeping the Poké Ball Plus in my hand while playing the game with standard Joy-Cons' joysticks and buttons. When I reached a waggle-toss moment in the game, I found that the motion-control sensitivity of the Poké Ball Plus, which is roughly equivalent to that of a Joy-Con, had that extra little bit of sauce thanks to its shape in my hand.

I have to cop to some absolutely silly immersion on my part. While reviewing the game, when I stumbled upon my first high-level Meowth, I got into a tricky catch encounter that required burning extra berries and bumping up to a fancier Poké Ball. Yet I nailed my first "toss," getting the arc of my thrown ball directly into a small, shrinking circle, just like in Pokémon Go. My Poké Ball Plus rumbled, lit up, and made a clicking noise to confirm my success. (It does this for every catch in the game.)

That's when I held the Poké Ball controller close to my mouth, stared it down, and whispered, with zero trace of irony, "I am your daddy now." Ten out of ten.

Are there places where you can do a lot of battling besides just gyms?

Likewise, from the little bit I watched, it seemed like leveling was weird based on the fact that you just seem to get up by catching Pokemon.

I'm really curious about this game, but I worry my nostalgia would actually end up souring me on the experience.

Huh. The requirements for the Kanto starters are different. Lady wants me to have 30 Pokémon to get Bulbasaur. That's pretty steep for this part of the game no?
