I caved and bought it.

Might have to wait until the weekend, because while I loved the game when I was in high school, I may need alcohol and/or friends to enhance the experience this time
Yeah, I'm definitely getting blazed and playing this, I'M FUCKING JUICED

Is this the first game to capture a David Lynch/Takeshi Miike sort of mood/tone/feeling? First time playing and it's blowing my mind.

Wow forgot this was getting re-released. Only made it half way through the gamecube version a few years ago. Definitely might grab this again. Was pretty into it at the time, even with how crazy it was.

You should check out Suda51's other games because most of them are pretty crazy.

I've played No More Heroes 1, 2 and Killer is Dead. All great games worth playing but Killer 7 feels different from the get go. It's tone is sinister as hell and I'm sort of entranced.

I can imagine a light gun mod making this game even better.

Also the game industry really needs to bring back batshit insane control schemes. MGS3, RE4 etc.

Its worth noting that Suda was much less involved with Killer is Dead compared to NMH I believe. That being said I actually like Killer is Dead much better than NMH 1 and 2. You are spot on though about the tone which is what puts Killer7 above the rest for me.

Mad you even gave me the idea for a light gun mod, It can't be that difficult to map a Wiimote to the aiming for this game right? I should fiddle around a bit see if I can get something working.

Also yea I think weird control schemes 100% have their place, I wouldn't change the way this games controls at all. Double that for Re4.

The Remastered OST is so good, it's nice to have the files at that quality.

The only "negative" point I have with the PC version is that it doesn't have subtitles during normal conversations, while I was used to have them on GC (PAL version).
I don't have an issue with those scenes per se, but it feels weird to not have them.

Killer7 never had English subtitles for cutscenes, though it did have French/German subs and those can still be enabled in this version.

It really would have been nice to go the extra mile in that respect, but hey, maybe a mod some day.

Is it just me, or is Con Smith's special ability running animation slower than it should be and inexplicably capped at 30 FPS?

NB: I recorded at 60 FPS but the embed seems to play at 30. (Direct link)

GameCube version (Con runs much quicker):

This would seem to contradict a trailer from a couple months ago where it plays at the correct speed and frame rate.

Yeah I noticed that too but being honest, I prefer the new change. I don't think it's a technical thing at all, much more a stylistic choice than anything. Con looks really weird in the GC version.

"All drawn animation sequences have been upgraded to fit the new 16:9 aspect ratio offered by modern computer devices. You can see an example here:"

I'm not familiar with the original. Are these scenes cropped from the original?

They were originally created in 16:9, then exported to a 4:3, this resulted in a cropping of the original with black bars on the top and bottom to make up the difference.

my favorite game on the gamecube and one of the best games ever, a stylish, surreal MASTERPIECE!

.!. Yoon Hyun, though .!.

I love just about every character in this game. And I love to hate Blackburn, of course.

This game has aged remarkably well, generally speaking.

Curtis is one of those unique characters where there's your impression of him in part 1, and then there's your impression of him in part 2, and they are worlds apart. To go from the slick, cool assassin to an absolute monster that barely qualifies as a human being is a hell of a gamut. And that final revelation about his hobby still gives me the chills something fierce.

Yeah, they went pretty far with him. I remember being in disbelief back in the day. And the scene with Pedro in the squash court. Good lord man, that makes my skin crawl.

I assume they haven't done anything like adding subtitles? Couldn't understand a word last time I played and even resorted to playing with a laptop open on a full transcription of the game by my side.

Part of the reason I never got that far in the game.

[EDIT]

Uhhhhhh

This is stupid beyond all redemption. Why ON EARTH not to put an english subtitles option?

Spyro doesn't seem to have any either.
I'm not familiar with Spyro, but I've always considered it to be some kind of 3d platformer, am I wrong? Not saying it's ok for it to not have subs, but seems like a genre which could get away without subs much more than a story-driven adventure like Killer 7 is. English subs in an adventure game FFS, we're talking about something which should be taken for granted in the industry for at least the last 20 years now

I don't have time to play this until probably next year but I bought it day 1 to support Suda51, such an amazing title.

Yeah, I actually would like to voice my agreement as well. There is at least one cutscene in this game with dialogue that I was completely unable to catch, even when I went on Youtube to give it a closer listen. This was in my Gamecube playthrough though. Have these issues with quiet dialogue and loud SFX/BGM in certain cutscenes been fixed for the PC release, or something?
