Watching Gundam Thunderbolt: Bandit Flower. Io and Bianca are either going to bang or Bianca's going to die before they have the chance to. Somebody in a ball just got Iok'd got damn. Gundam Thunderbolt pretty much answers the question of what would happen if a Newtype as powerful as Paptimus Scirocco formed a religion.

So question. Who is at Japan right and will watch Gundam Nt movie on 11/30? I will pay you $10 or the price of the movie ticket to watch the movie and spoil me what happens. I just want to know if Gundam Narrative and Gundam Phenex and Stein will survive. I am serious.

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM VICTORY - EPISODE TWENTY-EIGHT: THE GREAT ESCAPADE

Even ZZ would be like, no, this premise is too silly. The LM gets itself captured to make repairs. Not by the Zanscare but by a Zanscare leaning colony of side 2, Macedonia. They get put into a prison camp and as a distraction Marbet and Oliver finally decide to get married. Uso is jealous as fuck in some cute scenes. Just as the plan to take out the guards and get to their repaired ship is about to take place BESPA shows up with these wheeled monstrosities. Mobile Suits inside wheels. Everyone asks where the hell these things came from, the answer is Bandai. Katejina loves firing weapons in civilian areas. She's gone from ally to Jerid tier asshole right quick. She wants Shakti back by any means necessary and this is the second time she's committed acts of wanton destruction in civilian areas to get her back. She captures Uso at the end of the episode with that other BESPA lady who loves killing loose ends...but doesn't kill him because the show has another 24 episodes.

i6CQIUi.gif

This was a fun episode as well despite the premise being fucking bizarre. They had no need for extraordinary repairs at the end of the last one. They weren't that close to neighboring colonies. BESPA didn't even need to invade as Macedonia was more than willing to just give them Shakti after a bit of negotiating. Bandai had wheeled mobile suits and they needed a non space setting is all I can think of.

wow, the GFF Metal Composite RX-78 The Origin version has really increased in value since it went OOP. I have been thinking about turning mine loose since it just sits up in the closet these days.

MOBILE SUIT VICTORY GUNDAM - EPISODE TWENTY-NINE: THE NEW MOBILE SUIT:V2

Uso is captured and Lupe Cineau, the officer from earth takes over his interrogation. By trying to drown him. In a bathtub. A bubble bath no less. With both of them in it. With Uso handcuffed. He wins the naked wrestling match which I guess does test his newtype abilities. Also the rest of the Gundam team decide fuck it, we'll let the dog and the admittedly very useful ball robot find and rescue Uso...and they do!

Katejina, being genre savvy and perhaps after studying ZZ, knows Uso will escape and lead her right to Shakti. Uso escapes but his core fighter is badly injured. Good thing the previously unmentioned but clearly known to White Arc, a minibus looking version of the White Base, and the Gundam Victory 2 show up. They don't have a docking bay so Haro makes a soap bubble and the two young ladies from the Aenais who are now on the White Arc get him transferred over and suited up. Victory 2 Gundam clowns these wheel bots, killing the one black dude on the team. He did go charging in after seeing Uso easily disable the other suits though.

Poor dude who had like ten lines. At least you got to punch and threaten a 12 year old in a prison cell. Uso has a talking to with the full group. Apparently they never knew his mom's name but knew her as the designer of the V2, so his mom is on the moon making suits and his dad is with the higher ups of the LM.

I think we're gonna get it soon after in the West much like the Origin and Unicorn screenings.

That sounds awesome. At least I got to see that Phenex short on the big screen at Gundam Front before they closed that down. Still rockin' my Gundam Unicorn Phenex coffee mug.

How dare you fail to mention that Uso won that fight with Lupe by biting her boob.

There's a least one wrasslin match between Fa and Kamille in Z so there's three shows in a row where it is a plot point, and two in a row where it involves people from both sides of the conflict in an ultra serious situation. Uso is grabbing her breasts most of the fight but he slips out with a decent reversal in the end. The biting was incidental.

This was the third episode in a row where not only was the tone weird but also the basic premise of the show made no sense. Lupe isn't even trying to seduce the kid...she just likes torturing people in the bathtub? The dude guarding Uso knows exactly what she means by her threat and gets the tub ready. She's also not trying to kill him but to convert this newtype over to their side. People act like in the past 70 years that newtypes just vanished. Is the show just being dumb or are they going with the theory that they only show up during these gigantic space wars and die out during times of relative peace? I'm betting on the show just being dumb.

Well, the impression I got from Unicorn and what little I have read about NT is that the Federation is working hard to erase newtypes from existence in late UC.
Both literally and figuratively.

I believe that the idea is that Newtype weaponry is ridiculously expensive to produce, so all the major powers stopped making them and therefore stopped looking for Newtypes. There's not actually any fewer of them, they just aren't identified.

That's what the explanation is supposed to be at least. How believable that might be is an entirely separate matter. Personally, I think it's ridiculous.

They've been doing that since Zeta really with what they did to Amuro and the various NT experiments. Anyways if it was the next step in spacenoid evolution as some thought it wouldn't have been so easy to put down, unless the powers themselves just don't manifest without these great space conflicts killing millions/billions. A very similar amount of the people in this series are clearly newtypes of one degree or another a lot like the crew in ZZ.

They didn't stop funding Cyber Newtype research though since it's very obvious that's what Katejina went through.

Victory is clearly the height of ridiculousness. Armor doesn't work anymore because everything is beams. Energy is cheap enough where beams can be used for propulsion and shields. Since armor is so ineffective lets make everything modular, so that we can keep replacing legs and torsos because why not. Also battleships with wheels. Mobile suits with wheels. Mobile suit motorcycles.

I think that newtypes are a bit like cold war nuclear weapons. If someone has them and you don't and they decide to attack you with them, you are fucked.
However, escalation is undesirable both for economic costs and increasing risks of mutual destruction so a balance of everyone having them as deterrence but nobody actually using them might be reached with an incentive to lower actual expenditure and arsenal size.

Why would they want to get rid of Newtypes? It just means more spacenoids becoming Newtypes leaving the Federation fucked.

MOBILE SUIT VICTORY GUNDAM - EPISODE THIRTY: MOM'S GUNDAM

While mainly a clip show the first third is all new. The LM fight their way to the moon and land, and the kids all sneak by the port guards with Warren faking ill again. However right as they get on the highway they see a disturbance with some suited fellows and a woman, and Uso demands they get involved. Probably because he senses it is his mother.

iZyynTK.gif

Everyone leaves the two of them alone as a clip show happens, with some important tidbits here and there. She had a dream the night before he was born that he was a newtype and they might have planned all that computer shit in the basement of his house around honing his powers or some such.

MOBILE SUIT VICTORY GUNDAM - EPISODE THIRTY-ONE - MOTORAD, TAKE OFF!

Uso's mom was right, the Zanscare fleet heading for earth is on the moon...and Shakti goes there by herself to convince her uncle to not do it.

lYzHNxt.gif

Yeah, that's going to work. Uso and his mom are on the trail and she is an action hero, breaking in to the buggy and getting Shakti back. But then she gets kidnapped instead of Shakti by Katejina...and I already compared her once to Jarid. Oh boy. Anyways everyone teams up, including new pilots Odelo and Tomache to try and stop the battleship with wheels from taking off...including Oliver who makes the ultimate sacrifice. Marbet is all business afterwards. Uso can't take it.

MOBILE SUIT VICTORY GUNDAM - EPISODE THIRTY-TWO: THE DODGORE PRESSES NEAR

New Opening and Ending Hype! Everyone fights a space dragon. Marbet is doing well but she fears she is using Odelo and Tomache as human shields...I just see her saving their butts and them doing pretty well for themselves. Everyone gathers to spread Oliver's ashes at the end in space and the main Zanscare fleet makes it to earth. The final scene is Uso/Odelo/Tomache sneaking into the hanger and replacing the head unit of Marbet's ship to give her the commanders crest, a real sweet touch.

Finally got around to watching both of my Thunderbolt Blu-rays last night. This feels like an old school 90s OVA and the attention to detail is amazing. They're going to make more, right?

I'm a new Gundam fan after watching the original series but it really bothers me that the concurrent or prequel stories seems to have more powerful MS and modern designs. Also bought a couple of GunPla, I hope I end up liking them too much, can't waste money with another hobby.

They'd likely alienate their fanbase and lose customers were they to keep the blockiness of Gundam 0079. I welcome the sleep designs found in Thunderbolt and 0083, I enjoy them far more than most, if not all designs from Zeta.

When the manga progresses enough for there to be a good stopping point for a third season/movie. It is currently on hiatus due to the author having issues with his wrist, so he's taking time off to recover. The current battle is going to be great if they animate though.

Are there any extras on the blurays? Thinking of picking them up.

Trailers, commercials and audio commentaries is about it. I have the Japanese Blus, not sure if the content is the same as the North American ones (Bandit Flower doesn't come out here until February). The video quality is absolutely gorgeous.

edit: Looks like the NA release of the first ONA is missing the audio commentary.

I demand they come out and call everything after Unicorn, that is a sequel to it, as an alternate UC timeline. Actually, they should include Unicorn in it. I mean, I love Unicorn and will probably like NT too, but its unsettling to look at it from a pure UC perspective.

They will do this but write off F91 and V as AU.

Only Unicorn + new shit will get to stay.

10th - War in the Pocket
20th - Turn A and G Savior
30th - Unicorn and Ring of Gundam
40th - Probably something related to UC. Hathaway's Flash might have been the plan, but they accidentally let that slip during the NT announcement.
That was an accident? I thought it was officially announced lol
And the Live Action Unicorn sequel. Whatever that's going to be.
Is that the movie Legendary are making?

Yep. It was in the same leak as Hathaway's Flash during the NT announcement. Referred to as "Overseas Drama" Gundam UC2.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ne...logy-overseas-gundam-uc2-drama-teased/.130647

timeline.png.jpg

In the section for "new screen projects" were the following listings:

Universal Calendar 0097:
Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative (Kidō Senshi Gundam NT)
Film project — Fall/Winter 2018

Universal Calendar 0103:
Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash (Kidō Senshi Gundam: Senkō no Hathaway)
Film trilogy — Fall 2019 or later

Universal Calendar 0104:
Mobile Suit Gundam UC2 (Kidō Senshi Gundam UC2, tentative title)
Overseas drama format — 2022

However, the Sunrise studio's emcee and one of the event's guests, Gundam Unicornnovelist Harutoshi Fukui, quickly told the audience to "pretend you didn't see that" visual. The visual did not confirm that the last two projects have been green-lit. The event did confirm that the Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative anime project will start theatrical screenings in November.

Sunrise showed the first 20 minutes of Gundam NT at their panel at Anime NYC 2018.

Here's a rundown stolen from /m/. I'll spoiler tag all of it just in case people want to go into the movie completely blind.

>Main 3 kids start off on a field trip alerting people that the colony is gonna drop
>Pretty cool colony drop scene that goes about a minute, shows more of an impact from outside Sydney
>Michele supposedly predicted some events in the Gryps Conflict & CCA
>The Unicorn disabling all the feddie suits at the end of UC7 was it turning back time on the suits generators so that they were never constructed, I am not making this shit up
>Jonah and crew fight the Gustav Karl and other feddie dudes in Dijehs to capture the Vist girl who's name escapes me right now in order to get more info on the Phenex [Zero edit: Pretty sure it's Martha Vist Carbine]
>The Narrative interrupts a feddie mission to capture the Phenex and almost manages to catch it, but lets it go
>Some suits call up Mineva on Side 3, but Mineva isn't having any of it and hangs up, then calls for Zinnerman.
>Zoltan (Sinanju Stein pilot) is one of many Frontals, yes Full Frontal isn't the only one anymore.
>Sunrise wants to put out a Gundam film every one to two years globally
>English dub is gonna be done by NYAV Post
