I'd appreciate it if someone could post a screenshot of the game running at 1440p or 4K so we can confirm if it's natively running at those resolutions or if it's just upscaling.

Yeah, I don't use my (wife's) PC a whole lot, but for that price, I'm getting this. I want this on as many platforms as possible.

And I'll try to figure out what the hell "partial controller support" means in practical terms later.

That usually means that you need to use your keyboard for some functions, like entering a name or quitting the game

It shouldn't be that big of a deal

Ok it seems like it was running at 1440p. It seems to take into account the Windows DPI setting so you'll need to do 100% scaling for proper 4K.

It's the best the game has ever looked though easily. Proper widescreen plus high-res HUD.

Yeah, it's usually not an issue. And if you have Steam configured to see your controller as a Steam Controller, it's often possible to get around the keyboard/mouse requirement with some extra mapping.

OK, buying. Thanks for that.

Aw what the heck, the remastered soundtrack still doesn't have one of the most jarring omissions from the OST

EDIT: Oh wait nevermind, I think it's been renamed to Hotel Battle. NICE.

Goddamn this game still looks sexy as hell. I don't think I ever beat it on GameCube.
Sorry I don't have a 4K monitor, but this isn't exclusive fullscreen so I guess it matches your monitor.

60 is max from what I've seen
Sad but not unexpected with these older console ports.

For full support you need to be able to hit the play button on steam (or big picture mode) and do everything with a controller. They have a settings launcher so they can't claim full. I'd assume it's entirely controller friendly outside of that.

The game looks even better now than it did back then. The art style of Killer7 is one of the seven wonders

I can't wait to finally give this a try.

I'll probably hold off and wait for the reviews first

So will this game play best with a controller or the keyboard/mouse? I notice the new controls lets you map things that were once all a single button to multiple keyboard commands and use commands on the fly that used to be limited to a menu selection.

I have my 4k monitor at 125%, will it look messed up if it relies on Windows DPI scaling? I don't want to have to switch it out for a single game.

Recommend playing with a gamepad, but we made sure to include those KB/M controls if that is your weapon of choice.

Looks like they forgot to remove some GameCube-specific terminology when saving, assuming that this text can be easily changed.

Edit: Also having a Slot A and Slot B for saves in itself is weird, when it's not on GameCube.

Stealth brag, I just want to call out this particular screen because there was actually a lot of subtle work done to the UI and puzzle elements to make sure it all displays properly in 16:9.

edit: This probably isn't the right thread for reporting technical issues. I'll use the other one.

I can imagine. There is a reason I made sure to check the HUD and stuff. A long time ago I was playing the game in Dolphin and that upscaled HUD stuck out like a sore thumb so I attempted to do an "HD HUD pack" for use with the emulator but didn't really have the skills to recreate the elements properly so I forgot about it. It's nice to have the game running at high-res with a consistent presentation finally.

Will be shocked if the port's actually good. Probably just buying it on PS4, to be safe.

Super excited to play through the game again, though -- when it clicked for me, I loved it.

Seems good to me.

While there's no way to choose your resolution, it matches your desktop resolution. Doesn't look like there's a 60 FPS lock either. There are a few quality of life improvements with keyboard mapping and the UI was touched up to look better at high resolutions.

Alright, sounds good. Thank you both.

Good job putting up the such a good looking OT on such short notice, OP!

I wish there was a little more buildup towards release, but I'm excited to finally pick it up. Probably won't run on my shitcomputer, but I need this to do well if I wanna have any hope of playing it on other platforms, lol. Not to mention all that cut story that suda talked about not too long ago that he'd like to reintegrate somehow, given the chance. Is the remastered soundtrack any different aside from the additional 10 tracks?

There is english subtitle for all cutscenes that has "garbled" voices. But there was never any subtitles for voiced, audible cutscenes
I love this game and I'm really happy with this remaster and all the work that NISA and the developers has done, but I cant hide my small disapointment to this.
I'm not a native english speaker, but I understand people talking fairly well. Even so, I still lose a lot of the details with hard accents or jargons, so I hoped that the remaster fixed it and added english subtitles to all the game.

Wow, didn't know it releases today. Just bought it! I didn't play the game since shortly after the GameCube release and can't wait to play this weird game again!

Just got done with Angel, and I can report that this is a very good port all around. There are a couple of strange quirks, though, but hardly deal breakers.

1. This is definitely based on the Gamecube version, as some have noted above with the legacy Memory Card Slot A/B text when you're saving your game. Nothing crazy, but something that might trip someone up.
2. This issue is a bit more noticeable, but it looks like reload animations while in the game world default to 30 fps. There's really not too many reasons why you would reload outside of combat, and those reload animation cutscenes are running at 60 fps, but it's an odd little issue that seems like it ought to be easy to fix with a patch.
3. Sadly, no English subtitles beyond the Remnant Psyches. It makes the prominent space on the bottom during cutscenes even stranger since the game's framing was adjusted for widescreen, so it's a lot of literal dead space. I wonder if this might have to fall on the community to add, since I imagine that they could do some great things there, like simulating the original Japanese subtitle effects in English.

In NISA's blog post they bring up that reloading animation (emphasis mine):
NIS America said:
The entire game is rendered at 60 FPS except the "reload" animation. We found that increasing the frames to 60 FPS during the "reload" animation introduces unwanted artifacts at every other frame, so in order to keep the behavior true to the original, we've locked this animation to 30 FPS. Ultimately, our goal was to update as many parts of the game as possible without compromising the quality of the gameplay, and we aimed to achieve that with how the game was presented and experienced as a whole.

Interesting how the reload animation is 30fps just like certain ones are in RE4 when it was remastered at 60fps on modern platforms.

The one thing I gotta know is;

Does the game have the special camera shots for reloads like in the GC version, or is the reload done all in first person like the PS2 version

This game has a long and complicated lineage which means we strove to present as close to the original as we could, fixed where possible, and kept legacy issues when/where there wasn't an alternative.

Trust me, as someone who screamed like a banshee when I was there for the PC port announcement in person, you're not going to find someone more pleased at how this has turned out!
