Just got to say this, but Angelina is amazing and there hasn't been a castaway like her since... ever. While she is edited as the "villain" of the season, with all the negative comments about her gameplay (which is fair), she still comes across as 3-dimensional and more often that not, right in a lot of situations. She was right about Christian being the biggest threat in the game, and she was right about MALE contestants, statistically, finding more idols (and most likely other advantages as well) then FEMALE contestants. It would be so easy to bury Angelina in the edit, but she comes across as well-rounded and unique as a contestant. I haven't been this invested in a new-castaway for a long time.

If someone had Dan, Christian, Angelina, and Davie on fantasy they would have mopped up. No one in our league had all 4 played though. Decent amount had 3 of the 4 but no one had all 4.

This fucking season man.

It's so good. It's inexplicably good. Given how the last several seasons of Survivor have gone though, I'm just terrified that the rug is about to be pulled out from under us. At a certain point the producers are going to start planting clues in chip packets again, idols will be re-hidden every single week, and Christian will be left a literal breadcrumb trail of advantages on his way to camp after a confessional. The season can't just continue to be excellent...can it? Please don't fuck it up producers...

Seriously though, I love how well explained the strategy is. It feels like we're always getting to see the direct sequence of events that leads people to talk to each other. The through-line of each boot is so clear, and yet they manage to always keep the vote suspenseful in spite of that!

Angelina is incredible. It's at the point where literally everything she does is funny. I was laughing at her massaging Carl during the challenge because it just comes across as so disingenuous now, and her 'this was my plan!' confessional was downright amazing. And then Tribal with her getting a second go at begging for something?! It's just too good. The only way that could have been better is if Dan didn't give her an idol.

Other fun moments:
  • Davie intentionally twirling a stick as a distraction, and it actually working lmao.
  • Alec was mouthing Probst's lines in the lead-up to the reward challenge.
  • Dan losing the reward challenge while he's literally mid-sentence in taunting the other team.

I lol'd at her reaction to the idol being used. First when she asked Dan, "Who did you say?" She still didn't trust him, even after he used it on her. Then then tone of her voice when she called him her "guardian angel." Sounded so phony, especially after she spent earlier parts of the episode bashing his overconfidence and saying he needs to go.

She's definitely entertaining. Doesn't hurt she's easy on the eyes, either. Hips for days.

That was a fun episode.

I'm not sure if I appreciate the fact that the edit hid everything or not. I like that they didn't make it obvious who was going home, but they also hid the Davids' plan almost completely, since surely that split vote couldn't have been a coincidence.

I'm fine with them basically leaving it up to the idea of Davie possibly using the idol and not really going beyond that. We got a clear idea that both idols could be played but no clue what would happen after that. The only real thing to show would have been showing directly who would be voted out, so I prefer the idea of something crazy happening as long as we had somewhat of an idea it could happen.

The things I'm curious about I hope just get covered next episode. Why John? Who's idea to split vote and did a Goliath possibly say that Angelina could get an idol played for her? As long as we later get context I'm fine with being blindsided by the edit.

Another really good episode. I'm starting to like Davie a lot, and Carl's been better too. Less of a jerk.

I'm really glad that Christian was saved, because he's my favourite and one of my all-time favourite Survivors. I'd like to be friends with the guy. And it'd be great if he could win, but given how much they've been gunning for him...

It's too bad that Angelina had an idol used for her though, because I was hoping she'd go, even if she's cute. She's manipulative and can be annoying. Very self-centred, too.

John was a fun contestant, but the nicknames and wrestling stuff were both silly, and he was going to turn on Christian. So I'm fine with him saying adios. Much better than Christian.

Them all sharing one piece of pizza was fucking disgusting however.

Funny thing is that Angelina did not even need the idol since she only got 2 votes while John got 3 (All Dan accomplished was wasting an idol)

Yeah, that's true and a good point.

I'm always amazed how contestants can even use idols for others, or when they even tell them about them. They should be saving them for themselves, as it often backfires and leaves them vulnerable. At least the one guy had two, Davie only had one.

Funny thing about that, when they were finding the clue for the advantage, for a few seconds I was really curious if both Davie and Dan would end up with two idols each.

So glad Christian survived. He's the fucking best.

We did a draft, my fiancee and I, and I was so sad that she was able to grab Christian. I nabbed Nick, though, and I'm feeling really good about that decision. Dude is a hilarious sociopath and I think he's got a real shot at winning this.

Why didnt the goliaths split votes? Why did they not plan for a blindside?

Christian came off as aloof but its clear with how he talked at tribal that he's here to fight

Cant help but think this doesnt throw up red flags to everyone. He isnt going to make it at all. Unless he can manage to keep that david alliance strong. But at that point Id rather the dude with all the team names win, because he always comes off as likeable and pulling the strings

They banked on that idol being played that could save them.

They couldn't split votes in a meaningful way

If they voted 4 Christian, 3 someone else, then the 5 David's could win without an idol.

5-2 split would allow David's to still vote 3-2 with an idol and either get someone (like we saw) or force a tie.

In fact, the David's likely picked the 3-2 split in case the Goliath's went 5-2, and hit John as a target they wouldn't play an idol on.

Davie intentionally twirling a stick as a distraction, and it actually working lmao.

I was thinking to myself how silly and stupid it was to try that tactic as a distraction and that he'd end up just doing something dumb with no attention. I was pleased to see I was wrong and that it really did function as a distraction to the others lol

I actually wonder what would have happened if Dan hadn't won Immunity. Would he feel secure enough to still play an idol on Angelina? Would he even think Angelina was the target once an idol got played on Christian?

I think Dan might have gotten votes if he didn't have Immunity, but I wonder how the idol play would have went if he didn't have the immunity.

Did I miss why it was John?

IDK how to feel about Davie using the idol. It was refreshing to see someone actually keep it a secret.

Edit: Ok, I watched the video of him discussing it. I'm on board now.

At one point in the actual episode they said something about getting like "the next best thing" out or something like that since Dan was immune, but they never really said a name or went anywhere with it. I think it was only once and a throw away line even at that.

That was a good ep. David's blindsided John and production blindsided the audience. Very good. Maybe a couple of subtle hints but they didn't come out and show any discussions about John getting votes. With years of experience and clever edits, production knows how to make a good show.

Absolutely cannot stand someone who waxes poetic about padding their Survivor resume, only to fall in line and vote with the numbers.

Davids with 3 advantages....

I still don't see this going well.
Neither do I. I really doubt Dan is going out and I'm not confident about a "Goliath" going out either. It would be really amazing to see them pull this off but I don't think their plan will go into action. There is a change that what is discussed can make someone who is wishy-washy come back to their side and cancel the need for their advantages.

Alright. They fooled me. I was sure everything would blow up and defeat a David

Genius move by taking away Allisons vote because you couldn't be certain if she was playing both sides, while you knew Dan would always gun for a David.
