Lalo Garza, known to Latin American fans for being Krillin's voice in DBZ, and director for DBZ and Super's dubs, tweeted earlier today about how he won't be reprising his roles as Kung Lao and Reptile in MKXI's dub. This seems to confirm that MKXI is far enough into development that the Latin American Spanish dub is underway as well. We seem to be getting closer to an announcement soon.

So, TGA hype or what?

At this point, its more a question of what the lead platform for the game is (PS4 or PS5), not that it exists

I'm a bit more concerned that he makes it sound like Kung Lao and Reptile aren't in the game, rather than him not just reprising the roles.

Reptile being one of my faves, that'd make me a bit sad.

MKX will be hard to top, it's basically the best fighting game they've ever made IMHO.

Nope, he's not implying that at all.

off topic but i recently played a little bit of modern mortal kombat for the first time, my friend beat me and then stomped one of his feet into my fucking face and another into my freaking chest. too much violence for my taste.

Nope, he's not implying that at all.

He goes into more detail in other tweets and says he was replaced due to a fallout with the company doing the dub.

No, he mentions that his voice was removed from the game and the characters will be recasted, because he had a falling out with the localization company's owner.

Ah, understood. Thanks for the clarification!

I would have preferred if they waited next gen for a bigger leap. If its current gen they are better off building on what they have and just make a game with a massive roster

MKX was still using UE3, and I don't think they're using physically correct lighting either. They can definitely deliver a huge graphical upgrade on current hardware.

I hope it's more like 9 instead of X. I don't know if I'm in the minority in that but I loved the roster and gameplay way more in that one.

Nice. The only fighting game series that I care about and have any interest in. MK X was great and easily preferred it over Injustice 1 and 2. Can't wait for MK XI. Hope it releases in 2019 so the year can be even better than what it already is for me.

Oh shit Garza tweeting? Yup, that's legit then, he's currently the director of the Latam dub of DBS if I'm not mistaken.

I'm excited.

The turnaround for the Mortal Kombat franchise has been nothing short of amazing

The dial-a-combos are a part of the series DNA, like the block button and the gore. There are many other series you can play that don't include them.

I can? Whew.

I've been playing MK since the first one and have been a huge fan of the series ever since. It was my main fighter even in the dark ages of MK4/3d MK's but let's be real here; when the game devolves into a "who drops his combo first" it's not cool. That's what MKX was to me and it didn't hold my attention for very long. Maybe I phrased that wrong, but maybe rework the fundamentals in such a way that it rewards smart play also and not only memory.

Quite the opposite actually. He wouldn't be mad if the reason he wasn't called was because Kung Lao and Reptile aren't in the game.

Actually, this KINDA confirms they ARE in the game.

If you get combo'd in Mortal Kombat it's because you weren't good enough to defend against your opponent to land your hit first, not because they memorized the execution of a string that you didn't.
