Minnesota is brutal if you're not used to having seasons.

But who doesn't love going from 10 below (F) or worse in winter to 95+ with massive humidity and tons of mosquitos in summer?

/s

Don't get me wrong, MN's great, but the abrupt left-turn is definitely one of the few complaints I have compared to some of the more southern, less temperature-fluctuating states.

I've lived in the worst state and two others in the Bottom 10 in the last three years! Somehow moving up in the world by now living in Florida.

I assumed CA isn't top 10 because of cost of living.

Also isn't Vermont...not great?

Just like I can click on Google translate and the webpage customizes itself, webbrowsers need a "Black" plugin that would automatically reconfigure this list.

14th best state to live in is a state no one lives in. It's possible these listings have very little to do with what people actually look for in a place to live.

Looks like New Mexico is the only bad blue state and Utah is the only good red state judging by the top and bottom 10, but I would personally rather live in Texas when it comes to red states. We here in Ohio are crap, but at least we aren't Kentucky.

And TRAFFIC! I hate being in CA even on vacation.

Yeah congestion is probably right up there with cost of living. So instead of planning our life around weather like the rest of the US, we plan our life around traffic patterns. It's nice, as long as you don't go anywhere ;)

I'm shocked to see Jersey so high. I can attest to Virginia being a nice place to live.
Ohio and Florida are about where I'd expect.

As a black dude, I can't see myself agreeing with most of that top 10 though

I thought Tennessee was one of the hot new states to move to?

Tennessee or just Memphis and Nashville?

It has been for awhile. The article lists we've had a 9.1 percent growth like its a bad thing. We have a low unemployment rate with growing job opportunities along with free community college. I don't know what people want anymore lol.

I don't think the issue is Nashville or Memphis. Nashville is doing gangbusters and has very healthy growth and opportunities. Outside of certain people (who coincidentally have mostly moved to mississippi or outside of shelby county), Memphis is awesome right now. Tourism is up, businesses are doing well, housing prices are on the rise, and general happiness of the city is improving. I think the issue dragging us down is the rest of the state...

I've been here for 7 years now and it's amazing. The people, attitude, and culture are a great fit for me and my family. Granted, I live in the twin cities suburbs, but even up north the people are normal and not rabid Trump supporters (from my experience).

Moving to Colorado to get out of the south on a whim was the best decision I ever made for me and my family.

9 out of the bottom 10 are red states that have some of the lowest educational and quality of life numbers in the country. Voting against their interest.

Oh I was thinking twin cities too. the only things that turn me off is the weather and the percentage of white people, but like I said give it a few years. Ive visited a few times and I love it.

Bottom ten checks out. Dare I say SC could be lower, but then again, it's hard to be worse than the likes of Alabama or West Virginia.
