This is why celebrities should stay out of politics.

Just stick to singing.

Boy, where have I heard "stick to X" before... oh, yeah, FOX News!!

"Socialism is bad"

Fucking wow. As though the wealthy actually earn their money. What a sick joke.

Any attempt to appreciate the Spice Girls outside of their halfway-decent cheesy pop is a dreadful mistake. Even on those terms, they don't rate very high compared to other pop acts.

Here's the thing.

Sporting camaraderie and togetherness and meeting in the middle is an outdated concept in today's politics.

It was cute and heartwarming 10 to 30 years ago when both sides had SOME reasonable leaders.

Now it's just far right fascism and populism versus the world. And I'm sorry SG, but sporting both sides rhetoric isn't cute or useful here. It's not the energetic solution to the worlds problems like it may have been a few years ago.

The time is now to stand against lies and bigotry and fascism and populism. And we can't sacrifice that ground for the sake of useless unity with a threatening rhetoric.

Sorry SG, they were my favorite group growing up but I don't support this.

Gross thread title.

Era must be the only place, next to THE SUN, who have picked up on this because most people would assume to not pay attention to the Spice Girls commentary on politics.

They back Theresa May "as a woman".

That they do. *sigh*

I won't even use the Techno Viking gif, anymore. As the Techno gentleman hates it, and tried to get it removed from the net.

I really try to be thoughtful about that stuff.
If you really do care about that sort of thing (which is quite admirable) then you should try to avoid using any gifs or memes that use real people, unless they are actors or politicians. Most people don't like being turned into a walking joke without their consent, especially not mean spirited ones like that.

So disappointing. Y'all can stand for and empower women without supporting May or her shitty politics.

I remember back in the 90s when they made that comment about Thatcher being the first Spice Girl. Margaret Thatchet absolutely loathed women. She didn't promote any to the cabinet during the ten million years she was Prime Minister. Girl power!

Sporty Spice, the best Spice, probably doesnt like May. I'm well versed in the political leanings of the Spice Girls.

Rich women that live all over the world and have the life of dreams don't realise how this affects the rest of us. Disappointingly expected. At least we know who's part of the Brexit Festival line-up.

Not a coincidence that they're at the average crossover age between majority voting Labour or Conservative in the 2017 election.

They're literally the generation who grew up with Thatcher and you either hated her or idolised her.

Turns out they're Tories, and Brexiteers at that! Oops!

And that same year, Victoria, now 44, said the EU had been a "terrible trick on the British people", with Euro bureaucrats "destroying every bit of national identity and individuality".
Rich coming from the member of a has been pop band that wholesale copied US pop band style and put up a Union Jack to make it British. The EU has been the biggest boon to preserving national identity by giving local cultural and economic oddities access and protection. These people need to stop pretending that what they mean is simply base racism.

The most milquetoast ass shit. "Everybody hold hands that'll fix everything". "Stop being mean to the tories, that's the real problem".

A bunch of 40+ year old millionaires telling people what we really need in society these days.

Posh is the good one after all. Yas queen.
you might want to re-read the quote in the OP from this "Victoria" woman.

edit: nvm, she's a remainer (now)

"In response to the leave.eu campaign who have today tried to put a spin on quotes made 20 years ago about keeping or losing the pound, I have to say strongly my comments were not about this referendum and should not be misused in this way!" she wrote on Instagram.

"I believe in my country, I believe in a future for my children where we are stronger together and I support the remain campaign."

Yeah, their myopia isn't exactly new by any stretch. In that sense, it almost hurts more to know they haven't wised up since then. :/
