This is exactly what this thread is talking about. Tone down the saturation, have a very slightly realistic-esque artstyle and all of a suddenly it's not so bad, you guys are hypocrites. Those armors are garbage, but people tend to look at the character original design to judge them. and the original default designs in xeno 1 were pretty good imo.
Xeno 2 character designs are bad by default save for few.
I was counting blades when I think of characters since they can talk, have personalities and even side quests, but maybe that's kinda cheating.
But yeah Zeke, Morag and Nia designs are pretty good.
Aside from Sharla, I like the rest. Especially Dunban. His design was great.
Xenoblade 2 isn't even more anime than the other Xeno game. It's just better animated. Xeno series has always been very anime.I'm not saying that one of them don't have it, being JRPG you're sure gonna bump into that. It's just too much anime cringe for me on XBC2 and i'm pretty tolerable with it comes to anime. I like anime and jrpg is my favorite genre. It feels like the generic Tales of, not on Berseria/Vesperia level even, it doesn't help too many mechanics. That and i'm expecting something better from Takahashi, XBC is the best jrpg last gen and Xeno franchise is special to me. I can understand though that they have to do that in order to appeal to a wider audience, FE sadly went that way too.

Xenoblade shouldn't even be part of this, it's way worse than the other two.
Persona 5 is definitely the best, DQXI is fun but the overall package is just a quite a bit weaker and feels more dated.
Main story is 60-70 hours. If you like the gameplay and you want to do side content and explore the world, it's more than 200.
I just beat the "final" boss in DQ11 with some draconian modifiers a few days ago and that fight was one of the most intense turn-based fights I've ever done. Frequent party swaps, changing up strategy as the bosses changed their moves, and this is all after I did some major reworks in everybody's skill tree to prepare since my first few attempts were failures. Even had to learn a few new strategies to win (like using a Rab skill to defuse enemy Pep & getting Erik prepped up for massive boomerang damage & then moving him out of the active party and swapping him back in at just the right moment).
The game was made easily due reasons... if you chose the standard DQ difficult then the battle system is one of the most engaging battle system in a RPG.DQXI is good, but is dragged down by shit music and even though it's retro appeal is still part of the charm, the battle system isn't that engaging.
I've tried twice and I just can't get into P5, haven't tried DQ11 but would like too....although I'm in no rush.
XB2 is my introduction to the series and became one of my favorite games in a long, long time.
Remember that persona has crawled its way to 2 million(I believe) and DQ11 has maybe got like 500,000 people who could potentially speak English on this forum.Once again i'm quite shocked by the results of the poll. Reading some posts and entire threads on Era you would think Persona 5 is the worst Jrpg ever, trash, while Dragon Quest XI the best Jrpg of the generation.
Yet here we are with Persona 5 winning the poll by a wide margin. I guess those minorities shouting how much Persona 5 is bad are really loud.
About myself, i already played and completed two playthroughs of Persona 5, will start DQ XI in few days, won't play Xenoblade 2 because i don't have a Switch, so can't really judge which is the best.

And in that regard xenoblade 2 is only 500,000 itself from 2 million.
So the poll would never in theory be fair
Well, and keep in mind I myself have never played P5 but hear the complaints; most people who buy games never finish them and alot of everyones complaints start popping up the further you get in the gameWell, if Persona 5 really was so bad, even selling 2 millions wouldn't have changed anything. When a game is really bad or trash, like someone is describing Persona 5, most of people that played that game would agree and mostly nobody would vote it as best game.
I am really hoping for a switch portIf u have time, u should try XCX lol. It is also good but veryyyyy different. If u are a sci fi freak and gundam fanboy though. It will make u collapse due to how many nerdgasm u can experience.^_^
XB2 is the worse of Takahashi's game, too much anime trope, uneven aesthetic and graphics, and overly convoluted system which really needs some streamlining.
Was just about to say exactly this but good to see there are other people sharing my experiences.Xenoblade 2 is also great, but it suffers from severe anime cringe, content bloat and way too many interconnected systems for it's own good.

P5 is GOAT.
Play more. I say that even if I kind of regret putting 60 hours into a game that at the end feels unremarkable and bland, but the first 5 hours or so from DQ XI are easily the worst section from the game. If you like what you play from hour 5 to hour 10 or so, the game gets really better later.I'm only like 3 hours into DQXI, and I don't know if I'll ever get back to it.
Golden age 3.0More than anything else, this. What a great time to be a fan of JRPGs.
I'll likely try, probably with the help of the Orchestral Overhaul Mod. But such a boring start really makes it hard to put it on the top of the list of games I want to play when I know it's time I could spend on other RPG I have yet to start and are far more likely to be enjoyable from the start ( Torna, Etrian Odyssey V, Fire Emblem Fate, Persona 5 ).Play more.
