Hey guys, can someone who hasn't played in a couple weeks get the start of the Ives quest today? Or did you have to get it that first week it was available at the end of FotL?

I'm trying to finish the 2nd part of the Cryptart Quest and I finished the first 2 Lost Sectors but there's this blue Aura thingy in this 3rd Lost sector that's not allowing me to go further.

Anybody knows what this is? Can the 2nd Step of the Quest still be completed?.

Both paths are blocked by the same Blue shield.

The one that teleports you and the other one that was inside the Lost Sector tunnel

It was said back when they gave more insight into the Annual Pass content that there would be "bubble" locations added in each expansion. I've been hoping maybe this means we get at least part of the Cosmodrome back (the connection of the Black Armory, Archon's Forge, etc just seems kind of... obvious, to me) for this. Considering the animation for going to the Dreadnaught is in the game (unless it's a REALLY weird leftover from bolting on to the older engine they switched to), I would almost expect that to be part of this or maybe The Drifter's expansion. Penumbra could then maybe be on Mars, because that means all of them would not be "new planets" and not even technically new in general, while giving us more places to explore, no matter how small.
I believe the wreckage of the Dreadnaught is the Jetsam of Saturn, so I don't know if all the predictions of that coming back can be true. I'd be fine with it if it did, that and Dreaming City are the best areas they've done.

On the other hand, if I paid $40 for an annual pass and don't get a single new planet even though the last two dlcs each had one, that would suck. Regular players have combed through most everything already, save maybe some of the more esoteric Dreaming City stuff. Give us something new to look at.

Pretty interesting bit of world story in learning that Old Russia is under quarantine and that Guardians are forbidden from going back there.

Did they actually say bubble locations? I'm dying for new information here.
It was...
IIRC, there was an IGN video where they talked to Cotton and Taylor about this and I distinctly recall the term 'bubble' being uttered.

So no new planets, but new areas in existing planets.
Yeah that. They said there would be new locations, but, at least in the text, very quickly wanted to clarify that they meant what they called "bubble" locations, not whole new planets. Whether we should read into "new" being used in this context to mean just areas added to existing planets (and we get stuff tacked on to existing ones ala ROI) or we get old areas from D1 on our existing planets (EDZ = Earth = Cosmodrome, Titan + Dreadnaught = Saturn, etc) remains to be seen. It would be an easy way to bolster exploration space without having to make entirely new content, plus it would be a shot of nostalgia like we're getting with this Thunderlord quest.

Can anybody help me?. I'm trying to do the 2nd Quest Step of Thunderlord and I'm being blocked by these blue shields and I don't know what to do.

Already cleared 2 Lost Sectors but I cant finish the quest step because of this.

Edit* Its the Atrium Lost Sector.

WTF, I don't recall that being in the Atrium. Are you sure it's in the Atrium and not another area? The decorations look like you went towards Maevic Square or the Salt Mines. The Atrium is the one underneath the chapel.

That's not the Dreadnought. During the Taken War there were quite a few ships that looked like that. It's equivalent to a Fallen Ketch or a Cabal Warship. If you travel to Titan with a sniper, you can still see Oryx's Dreadnought in the rings of Saturn.

I never picked up the quest on my Titan, but I still have the marker there. According to people on Reddit, you should have no issues picking up the quest line and finishing it all off today.

If you want some more clarity on what Bungie means by "bubbles", this set of slides from a GDC talk they gave is quite informative. When you get a grasp on how Destiny has been designed and where all the various pieces sit, it becomes more apparent in game where all the parts are located; how you load into certain activity hosts, and how they are separate from the actual location bubbles. It also becomes easier to see why certain exploits are possible (e.g. chest farming); why it's probably incredibly difficult for them to ever fix them; and instead better for them to just design bubbles with those limitations in mind.

That GDC presentation was phenomenal (watched it a couple years ago), and how they talked about the seamless matchmaking was super helpful for getting populated areas like Court of Oryx, Archon's Forge, EP, and Blind Well. Definitely worth a watch.

There's another interesting one too from Chris Butcher, worth a listen: https://www.gdcvault.com/play/1022106/Lessons-from-the-Core-Engine

Now that they've done a little of the work they should go ahead and release "Destiny Classic" on PC. Add the DLC on a schedule like throwback MMO servers.

Why the fuck did I just leech three tier 4 Blind Wells and walk away without my second seed of light. I thought that was supposed to be a guaranteed drop past tier 2.

I'm not happy.

Three raids. Nothing. One clanmate gets the bow twice today when he's already gotten it twice already. Another clanmate gets another Glittering key. I get 1000K Voices a third time, while one clanmate still hasn't gotten it ever.

Suck my ass. All of us got shit we didn't need. What a joke. Then I see people getting the ship, sparrow and ghost all in one run. The fuck is that about?

RNG.

Everything in the game needs "smart RNG." I will never back down from this.

I was thinking the same thing. Linear fusions might still be great for killing invaders, but I think LMGs are gonna be the meta for dedicated invaders. One missed shot isn't devastating anymore.

Nightfall loot has RNG protection. But nothing else does. Makes no sense. It's really infuriating. It took me forever to get Crux of Crota in D1 for Necrochasm and the Year 3 Thorn bounty. Way more time than any reasonable person should ever have to put out. Absolutely insane.

Militia's Birthright / Bite of the Fox

Luna's Howl

Thunderlord

This probably gonna be my default loadout for PvP. I'm not efficient with Rocket and drumloaded Grenade launchers so HMG fits my playstyle.

I think I legit like the Erentil better than Telesto for PvP. Telesto has that minor delay until the crystals explode that means I end up trading more often than I should. And once I got the hang of controlling the firing pattern Erentil can shoot further. I was winning ling distance engagements against bow users in one match, I wish I'd saved the footage.

What's the best way to farm for an enhanced fusion targeting helmet?

I'm just glad Thunderlord sniping days are back. Almost nostalgic about first D1 Iron Banner.

Going back to the Cosmodrome was cool, totally unexpected.
Thunderlord was an awsome reward as well.

Can't however shake the feeling that the lighting work on this particular section was extremely poor, specially indoors. Even when compared with the original area in Destiny1.

Had a solid night, grinded from roughly 1050 Glory to about 1650. Another night like that and Luna's Howl will be mine!

Nais!

Grinded for about 3 hours, got from 200 to 1082 :-) Not bad ... lost only once. It'll only get tougher. Reaching Fabled Rank won't be an issue ... getting those Quest Steps done in time will. Thinking of just leaving Luna untill the reset. Have to kill 50 people with handcannons, then do the Solar Step, then the Precision Shots ... god.
