Much rather see this award given to someone like futureman gaming, that makes truly interesting and fresh content. Dude never fails to entertain me. He has such positive vibes and is a great role model too.
You can be a gamer, be trendy and make other things like streaming. As i said, Charlie "GamingBrit" Cade makes funny and informativo videos and is a gamer, Mark Brown create glorious educational videos and is a gamer... I understand that streaming is hot now, but with so many many and being so visible, having streamers that uses racist slurs is nearly asking for another adpocalypse to gaming related content creators. It's probably because it's just "Trending Gamer" but badly repackaged. I doubt they really considered actual (as in, non-gameplay, no offensive meant to streamer fans) content creators when they were choosing the award. Wouldn't be surprised if the name was changed last minute, either.
Where did you hear that? Why do you think it was Era?
But as a content creator at a show entirely about fan service, it would make no sense to exclude the guy with a fanbase that size. Are you going to use Hollywood as a barometer for not protesting platforming shitty people?
Yes, people still watch him, that does not mean he *needs* to be a part of an award show or be nominated for anything, it's entirely arbitrary.
"We at TGA take a strong stance against discrimination and as such Ninja will not be in contention for this year's award"But as a content creator at a show entirely about fan service, it would make no sense to exclude the guy with a fanbase that size.
Did he said he doesn't like woman or he doesn't want to play with woman? Those two are very different.
Not wanting to play with a woman doesn't mean any discrimination, maybe it's just his personal opinion, why even force someone to do something he doesn't like? Isn't that wrong?
Well, if he doesn't want to play with black people, then it's ok
If he doesn't want to play with a Muslim for any reason, so it's ok, why upset about something like that?
For example, Did he said something like he doesn't like black people because he think black people are bad? Did he said that?
If he is a racist that always talks bad in his stream so his twitch should be closed long time ago.
It's not up to me to force him to eat something he doesn't want it.
In the ends, people are voting for him, people who made him popular.

So, let's get this out of the way. Ninja is going to win this. It's not even a contest.
And this is a problem.
Ninja is a problematic streamer who fosters a toxic community, and he will join a long line of problematic gamers that are chosen to "represent gamers".
How is this ok?
You want this to be the face of your industry for million of kids?
You want someone that cant promote women because it might send the wrong message?
Yet another streamer that says racial slurs without a second thought?
Geoff, I know you mean well. But this award needs to end.

I'm not sure how to make this more clear - I quoted a specific user's post and changed it from one group to another to highlight the absurdity of the statement.
At no point did I attempt to attribute the quote to Ninja. You may want to brush up on your reading comprehension.
And to me, nothing is more illuminating of the gaming culture than how quickly they attempt to dress down any person, game, or company the moment they get an opportunity.Nothing is more illuminating of the gaming culture than being contrarian for calling out discrimination. Speaks volumes if it and you.
I mean, I can understand the frustration? But it's a kid, you shouldn't get to that level on one over a videogame.I'm sorry but that kid deserved that. I don't watch game streamers but I'm gonna guess they use all manners of derogatory language. I'm glad he screamed on the little shit.

Who is this in reference to?And the Women & Minority Hater / Adderall Abuser of the Year Award goes to..

Any kind of actual data for that?I just googled it and was going to respond - now I see you posted it.
Ok, really bad choice of words. Really bad. Terrible as it sounds, It is a historical fact that Nazi scientists did advance medicine and there was some good out of it, and the first part of his claim, I was going to write that it wasn't so bad. But after he said "so, some good came out of the holocaust" - I think that's a really bad choice of words. Really bad. I doubt he's a Nazi or anything, but a really, really bad choice of words. I am part-Jewish and my grandfather survived a death camp, and still I wouldn't find stating historical facts about US using Nazi scientists insulting - but, the sentence "so, some good came out of Holocaust" is really dumb and dangerous. Even in that context.
I mean, he's a piece of shit for that as well.Attacking Boogie over that quote is ridiculous.
The guy publicly "celebrated" on stream the fact his ex-girlfriend died of cancer. That's why he's a shit human being, not a stupid sentence about being in the middle and avoiding radicalization.
I kinda agree, but the kid called him a "fag"... I can see why. And it seems he doesn't tolerate that shit, so good on him. And ninja probably being someone he looks up to (ugh, this happens every generation. "I don't know what the fuck is up with kids these days") maybe he won't go around calling people names like that.I mean, I can understand the frustration? But it's a kid, you shouldn't get to that level on one over a videogame.
i would add digital foundry retro to that list.Yo, when's Super Bunny Hop gonna get his award?
Or SuperButterBuns? Or Ahoy? Or Joseph Anderson?
TwoBestFriendsPlay? GameGrumps?
Perhaps its you who needs to brush up on some reading.
lol you quoted a poster with a hypothetical...
What if Ninja had said...
"I just dont stream with black people"
Vs.
What you claim he actually said..
"I'll only stream with men because of my awesome pheromones and also my wife doesn't trust me and I'm scared of my dumbass fans misconstruing things"
Your misrepresenting the reality of what he actually said, i don't care about your hypothetical, i agree that both statements do sounds absurd, but the issue is he didn't say either of them unless you can find me a video or article where he says... "I'll only stream with men because of my awesome pheromones and also my wife doesn't trust me and I'm scared of my dumbass fans misconstruing things"... if not than my original post stands.

Ahoy's video on Polybius is one of the most interesting, well edited documentaries I've ever seen.Give that award to Ahoy. The level of care and detail and time that goes into each of his videos is just incredible. There are so many other positive creators out there, even ones that say fuck. I don't think the award needs to be tossed out, they just need to reconsider who they put in the nominations.
MrBtongue too
It isnt using one quote. Its literally, actively, and continuously discriminating against women. If you think because he doesnt use swear words on stream that somehow makes him a great dude that supercedes the fact he is actively discriminating against women that speaks volumes about your own outlook on the matter. No amount of work he does in the community is going to distract from the fact he is openly legitimizing the gaming communities desires to bar women from gaming. And to me, nothing is more illumination of the gaming culture than how quickly they attempt to dress down any person, game, or company the moment they get an oppurtunity.
I'm not going to act like Ninja is perfect, but I'm going to at least have common sense and see that he attempts to maintain a quality stream and has done a gajillion things for the community. In real life mistakes happen, and I will not be using one quote or two minutes of youtube that highlight his mistakes to invalidate his thousands of hours of successful contributions to the culture.
Ahoy's video on Polybius is one of the most interesting, well edited documentaries I've ever seen.
That's to say nothing of his Brief History of Graphics, Nuclear Fruit, or hell, even is Call of Duty weapon guides.
Everything that man touches turns to gold.

I didnt try to rationalize misogyny I only tried to clarify that discriminating against women isnt misogyny.
So because he plays hours and hours of games a day that somehow forces him to say shitty things? I don't get what that has to do with anything. Is he under too much stress from playing games so he has to bust out some women-hating or the n word every once in a while to let off steam?Guy streams himself playing games for hours and hours every day and people pick him apart with cherry picked clips and quotes to pretend he's a terrible person while ignoring everything else he does.
I don't care at all for let's players or whatever but this complaining seems ridiculous
Woolie going ham on stage after winning would just melt my heart.Would love to have Woolie nominated and win an award its why these awards are kinda lame because I don't really see channels like that get nominated.
Maybe you can explain more because I don't watch or follow Ninja. But I remember him saying that he doesn't stream with women because of how the community reacts, creates narratives about their relationships etc. Which is a dubious reason, but one considering what I've seen of these communities and popular YouTube channels, that genuinely could be a toxic input to his relationship with his wife. Was there more than just that, or is that the crux of the argument that has formed against him? Because if so I get it. But it does seem a tad hyperbolic for how you're stating it.It isnt using one quote. Its literally, actively, and continuously discriminating against women. There is no good reason for discrimination. "It makes things easier for me" is certainly not one.Maybe you can explain more because I don't watch or follow Ninja. This over and over again...What content did this person create again?
Oh wait, none and we all know it.
Everyone slips up. He has changed his ways and doesn't swear anymore. And the "women-hating" aspect is debateableSo because he plays hours and hours of games a day that somehow forces him to say shitty things? I don't get what that has to do with anything. Salivating for his down fall is right up there with despising someone, maybe even worse.
His argument wasn't even about toxicity, it was that people start "shipping" rumours over him and those women. And this bothers him. But it doesn't even bother his wife. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Maybe you can explain more because I don't watch or follow Ninja. "If I have one conversation with one female streamer where we're playing with one another, and even if there's a hint of flirting, that is going to be taken and going to be put on every single video and be clickbait forever," Blevins told Polygon.
It was his decision alone to keep his streaming partners men-only. "That was not even her. She had nothing to do with it."
Literally the Mike Pence defense. His argument wasn't even about toxicity, it was that people start "shipping" rumours over him and those women. And this bothers him. But it doesn't even bother his wife. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Somehow the narrative got twisted about Ninja just being overprotective of women from harassment and toxicity, presumably to make him seem like the good guy (it'd still be lame because he'd be throwing women under the bus instead of, you know, using his influence and wealth to reign him his shitty fans), but it's not even the reason he chose to exclude women. It was literally because he wanted to avoid "gossip".
