What point is he making? Is he trying to make fun of the "single player games are dead" narrative? Is he trying to say more Multiplayer games should be added?
I don't imagine there's any rule but the list was determined by jurors. Expecting the gaming press to listen to all audio tracks to determine "Actually the Russian version of Arthur Morgan is pretty good" is completely unreasonable. For best performance...is there a rule that only english voice actors can be nominated?
I think that would be pretty sad
Just gotta mention, that list of noms for Best VR Game is a hefty indicator of why I'm investing in PSVR this year. There's no ignoring it anymore.

Throughout this gen, games only edge each other visually because of art direction so they go hand in hand. To have good graphics they have to have good art direction.
Can we stop with the "single-player are dead" ? It's basically become a straw-man. I haven't seen anyone say that in years.

Nothing really of note from any of them besides Ninja (who has a binder full of stupid moments), though I'm not too familiar with Willyrex. Of that bunch I'd give it to Lupo or Poki. Can someone breakdown all the stupid shit the nominated "content creators" have done (so far)?
also if Octopath doesn't win best Soundtrack then it'll have been robbed
(also wtf is up with no XB2 options? are they just specifically focusing on 2018? i hope so)
Mmmmmm I finished both games, and I don't think that the "text walls" that are presented before the real final boss in OT are enough to compensate for the lack of chemistry between the characters or the isolated feel of the stories. If you could finish DQXI and say that it was a rehash of previous games and had absolutely no merit as an interesting narrative then I don't know what to say either.
But this is the same forum where Octopath doesn't meaningfully connect the stories together because no one bothered to actually finish the game and see that that is flat-out untrue. So I don't know what I was expecting.
Not particularly surprised myself but at times unsurprising injustice needs to be commented upon :P.I believe you, I just think that it doesn't surprise me at all.
I'm honestly not sure what he was expecting.
The Game Awards are largely chosen by the major traditional Western press outlets.
Here's how they reviewed the biggest multiplayer games of this generation:
- Fortnite: 81
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: 84
- Rainbow Six: Siege: 73
- PUBG: 86
- Rocket League: 85
- Overwatch: 91
- ARK: 70
- Battlefield 1: 89
- For Honor: 78
- Warframe: 71
- The Elder Scrolls Online: 71
- Destiny 2: 85
- The Division: 80
I don't get the impression there's an overflowing love of these titles among the voting base that would give them a shot of inclusion.
There are a couple exceptions, but it would likely take a lot of retirements (which, as most prominent journalists at traditional sites are 30-50, is like 15-20+ years from now), or a notable expansion of the voting base for that to change.
Pretty much what I expected aside from Celeste and AC: Odyssey.
Not played Celeste myself but I'm not quite sure why so many underrate Ubi games. They make some truly exceptional games that always seem to get underrated because of who they're made by.
AC Odyssey fully deserves that nomination.
Yeah I have to agree. I'm just looking at the VR list like damn... that's actually a lot of quality games on PSVR.Just gotta mention, that list of noms for Best VR Game is a hefty indicator of why I'm investing in PSVR this year. There's no ignoring it anymore.

Looks like Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee simply didn't make the cut and won't have a chance to be nominated for next year's awards. I'm sure plenty here will be happy about that. What is the cutoff date for games to be eligible this year?
Games eligible for The Game Awards this year must be available for public consumption on or before November 16, 2018. Titles that are released after this date will be eligible for The Game Awards ceremony in 2018. (Similarly, games that were released in December 2017 are eligible for this year's awards).
I doubt it's an official rule or anything but the TGAs, like The Oscars, are Western shows and, as such, focus primarily on Western interests. It's not sad it's just the way things are; the amount of bilingual people who would be able to adequately judge both Japanese and English performances (not to mention other languages) is too small for non-English nominations to ever be viable.
Nevermind didnt realise Hollow knight released 2017.Bummed Hollow Knight didn't make it, but good list regardless.
Hollow knight came out last year.Yeah Celeste making it but not Hollow knight doesn't make any sense to me.
Fuck that game, any game that slows down player progress to encourage buying XP boosters can go fuck itself. Fuck AC and fuck Ubisoft.
Publicly available date cutoff. I imagine the jury outlets have received review copies of this week's games.
why not call it best english performance? I think it is strange to call it something if you limit it to a certain region.
and no, the oscars have plenty of nominees for foreign performances....bad example on your part.
I don´t even know why it would be so hard to get a list of people who are convincing in their performance. Listen to certain communities...the cream always rises to the top. It is pretty boring to see the same names year in and year out (imo).
JSTN got robbed from best esports moment of the year. absolute clutch 0-second goal in RLCS Season 5 World Championship.
Good to know. Can you get me an edit on my avatar like your game of the year tag on this picture?
I'm off my laptop for tonight so on mobile now. If you still want it tomorrow morning I can send it to you.
