This years been so good I'd feel bad either way I think. So many incredible performances this year.
Judge, Clark and Yuri were all up there with the best ever for me. They all made their games much better thanks to their performances. Shame Otto's, Dutch's or BOY!!!'s VA weren't nominated too.

Dechart was a scene stealer too, one of the most charismatic leads of the year (and part time cool dude). Each of 'em could take a trophy home!

- Mega Man 11

Best Action/Adventure Game:
- God of War

Best Role Playing Game:
- Monster Hunter: World

Best Fighting Game:
- Street Fighter V Arcade (fucking this is on the list for fighting games, but no D:OS2 Enhanced for RPGs? More like Best JRPG lol)

Best Family Game:
- Super Mario Party (...I guess?)

Best VR/AR game
-Tetris Effect

Best Mobile Game:
- Donut County

Best Strategy Game:
- Into the Breach

Games For Impact:
- Celeste

Best Game Direction:
- God of War

Best Narrative:
- God of War

Best Art Direction:

Best Independent Game:
- Intro the Breach

Best Sports/Racing:
- Forza Horizon 4

Best Multiplayer Game:
- Fuck all of this noise, because Stardew Valley ain't on the list.

Best Ongoing Game:
- Fortnite

Best Score/Music:
- Marvel's Spider-Man (amazing soundtrack, but I would have picked RDR2 if it were an option.)

Best Audio Design:
- God of War (this game is on that next-level shit where its audio design is concerned. Nothing even comes CLOSE for me. Far and away the easiest pick on this list for me.)

Best Performance:
- Christopher Judge as Kratos (God of War)
- Roger Clark as Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption 2)

DO I REALLY HAVE TO CHOOSE???? They're both so god-damn good! I'm thinking I gotta go with Roger as Arthur, but it's really a tough choice.

Content Creator/Streamer Of The Year
- Myth

and finally

Game of the Year
- Red Dead Redemption 2

This year was pretty eh for me so I don't really care about the choices that much.

Though I do wish that Xenoblade 2 was nominated for best score and Dragon Ball FighterZ for best art direction

Cool to see celeste up there. Think I would have personally preferred seeing obra dinn over it as far as indies go though.

no DQ is a travesty

Torn between GoW and RDR2 at the moment. I think I'm at the end of RDR2, so I'm hoping that solidifies it one way or another.

I hope No Man's Sky wins just for the reactions that will surely result and because after all that team has been through and put up with since the game released I feel like they deserve it.

Celeste is my goty (I've not played any of the other nominees). The fact it actually got nominated is incredible.

Pretty obvious that RDR will win GOTY but I wish GoW did, it's honestly my game of the gen so far. It's so good.

I'd argue that it's the sort of approach that should be left behind and maybe that's what they're doing now, kinda defeats the point of celebrating an entirely new score from 2018 if the greatest hits from the past can just rock up and take a spot by virtues of a re-release.

And I say this with my favourite game OST also being re-released this year.

I can see that, but then, shoudn't that be on the rules? That ports, re-releases and remakes are not elegible?

Oh, the yearly cringe popularity contest?

But the nominees are not chosen by popularity. Neither are ther winners, 90% of the vote is for the juries.

So....? What are you on?

Celeste told a very specific story in a way that only a videogame could. I realized partway through it that the gameplay itself was telling the story. Pair that with the amazing dynamic soundtrack and you have yourself one tiny little GOTY.

I'm glad Celeste and Detroit got some noms, and I'd love it if Bryan Dechart got performance for Connor.

Ni no Kuni 2 appearing everywhere. Why. It's also gotta be Hisaishi's worst soundtrack. I didn't turn the music off in the first game, but didn't last long in the second.

Honestly surprised by all the Detroit nominations. Thought that game had gotten the usual David Cage-backlash.

What's the difference between action and action adventure games. I'd consider God of War as a action game as well how would Destiny 2 be nominated over God of War. I'm assuming it's just a way to get more games nominated in another category that didn't make it in the action adventure list?

Geoff isn't deciding the nominees, an international jury of 69 global media and influencer outlets is.

I was more meaning that it's Geoffs baby and the nominees and awards represent his show and gaming at large. I could have picked your nominees about six months ago it's that predictable.

It is what it is though a mainstream show trying to appeal the masses, where brand name and genre pretty much guarantees success.

I love GOW. Great Game. But it a very linear experience. I was done with it, and back on my shelf it went. I am halfway in RDR2, and my jaw is on the floor half the time. There's so much detail, I feel I wont even see everything. :(

It's absolutely bizarre that gamers have been conditioned into thinking this is a negative thing. It's okay for games to feel complete, and end.

Celeste being on the list shows that the biggest game is not always the best game. I've spent more hours in RDR2 than God of War by far. I'm engrossed in the world of RDR2, but god of war is a much tighter and better video game.

Well, Sony has been consistent with nominations for the last 4 years but they haven't won yet.

2015 - Bloodborne
2016 - Uncharted 4
2017 - Horizon Zero Dawn
2018 - God of War, Spider-Man

always the bride's maid never the bride.

Celeste is mainstream?

What would you change in the GOTY nominees list?

It's absolutely bizarre that gamers have been conditioned into thinking this is a negative thing. It's okay for games to feel complete, and end.

I love me single player games! I own a PS4PRO just for them. But there are only a few games that come out that break new grounds. I haven't seen so much detail in a game for a very long time.

Even if RDR2 was linear, you can tell there was so much work put into it. That will be celebrated and commended by many.
