MK8 is much more popular and a bigger system seller than either Odyssey or Zelda
How are those 2DS units? I've been meaning to pick up a new 2DS XL as I'd like to play Metroid: Samus Returns at some point, but I have so little time that it's hard to justify spending the money. However, an $80 2DS is kind of a no-brainer. I don't like how the regular 2DS looks though and I wonder how comfortable it is to hold...
Might have been more interesting, but Mario Kart 8 will sell more.
You can download levels (ones made on Wii U) but not upload them. There are also ~100 exclusive Nintendo-designed levels included, so it's pretty great even offline.
Second highest selling title on the platform, only beaten by Odyssey.
sure but it's also old af and very strongly multiplayer oriented. they could have had a mk8 bundle and another one with one of the games I mentioned.
Nintendo could have thrown singles players on the fence waiting to jump in a bone but they just don't care.
Citation needed. It's the second largest selling game on the system, and arguably the most accessible to all target markets.
It's a good deal. I feel like a $250 switch would have been better though, even though this is technically a better deal (if you're planning on picking up MK ofc).
I wouldn't say they don't care. Rather they want to maximize profit. They know people are going to buy many of their games even at full price so offering them to everyone for free would eat heavily into their profits.
Their thinking is probably- if those single player gamers on the fence aren't compelled by their offerings this holiday then maybe in 2019 they'll bite. Plenty of other people will be swayed by Mario Kart. I mean I seriously doubt that they won't sell every single unit of that bundle that they produce.
This deals are kind of lame? On the Switch you get MK8 for free and that's pretty much it (I mean, by now people expect their consoles to come with at least a game), the 2DS deal is kinda cute, ideal for the lil' bois and gals at home. The final deal are two pieces of plastic, lmao.

The MK8 bundle is a great offer, I was actually planning for it to be the first game I'd get on Switch, but ended up buying BotW because the store didn't have a copy of MK8 available. I was like of we'll let's check the e-shop, $60, fuck that shit. Let's Go will be my second Switch game and maybe I'll get MK8 along with Smash.
People were expecting no price cuts or discounts at all. This is a $60 discount which will go a long way.
They're gonna sell every unit they product of this bundle.
Just so that people know, even now Mario Kart is still having a 50%+ attach-rate each month in the US. For more than half the potentil buyers (closer to 2/3 actually) it is a 60$-saving bundle.
No way would they bundle smash for free . They know people gonna bye a switch for that already
I wouldn't be too sure. It has been proven time and time again that price is king during BF. It'll sell really well but won't completely wipe out stock like imo.
I know, it's just the marketing behind the bundle which is funny.
why bundle zelda or odyssey when almost every one who buys this one will get those games too eventually
Exactly, price is king. So people will buy this bundle and not any of their other bundles on Black Friday, hence it selling out.
I'm mostly talking about parents who don't know much about gaming, looking to buy something for their children. I know gaming people are used to buy consoles with no games, but I get that "normal people" would see a console with no game and go like "WTF", specially on Black Friday.
It still has to compete with the PS4 and X1 too though. The PS4 Spider-man bundle is $200 and I assume the X1 will have something similar.

ERA's ability to think outside their little gamer bubble is always limited.
Price definitely matters. I remember last year there were reports of available switch stock after black friday compared to the 199 ps4 which was sold out before we even got to friday. I expect more of the same this year especially now its 199 ps4 w/ spiderman. It's a crazy deal
