So if we count bundles Spidey is gonna do over 5 million in the US alone this year probably
Yeah Benji's hesitation on platform rankings means to me that someone is unexpectedly in the lead. Would be pretty crazy if the RDR2 XBX deal put Xbox at the top.
The Switch absolutely will not outsell PS4 in 2018.
The Switch will also be down YoY on a per-month basis, which I got laughed at for predicting before 2018 began.
Its more this time of year things start getting weird.
Promotions are different at different retailers. Inventory levels are different between them. The clientele starting changing gearing up for the holidays.
The data just starts to look a little bit harder to read. Just like last year I've said what I can see in my end but cant account for the whole market even if I can a decent share of it.

Switch is currently is only -3% YoY, it's expected that November and December will quite stronger compared to last year.
arachnophoneyaYeah if/when Sony do another Spider-Man sales update it will be massively downplayed by certain people.
1. those people will ignore the huge sales that happened outside bundles and 2. they will also ignore that a lot of the bundles are sold because of a particular interest in the bundled game.

To be clear we are only 1 week into November tracking and Switch is soaring already
Anecdotal but... as a father of two young boys I definitely travel in circles where there are a lot of kids (swimming lessons, daycare, etc). I've noticed these past few months a massive uptick in Switch sightings. Daycare usually the kids have tablets or 3DS but now I'm seeing Switch everywhere. Even two kids by the pool had the lime green Switch last night. If I had to guess it would Fortnite be tipping the scales... If last Christmas was about the hardcore gamer snagging the Switch, I think this Christmas is the one where mom and dad are gonna get their kids the Switch, especially with Pokemon and Smash.
Nope. It was one of the best tho.
2013 - 2.00m
2014 - 4.68m
2015 - 5.73m
2016 - 5.20m
2017 - 5.44m
Neat. We saw something similar in the UK, where switch seemed to increase quite noticeably judging by the increase in sales referred to by Christopher Dring. Will be interesting to see if Japan sees similar increases. Can you say anything about how pokémon is doing? To be clear we are only 1 week into November tracking and Switch is soaring already
2018 YTD (as of September) : ~2735k
Could 2018 be the best year for PS4 in US ?
It'll be >3M with October.
2M November alone is happening too.
Absolutely lol
Was thinking the same thing, like what is he basing it on?You're not convinced that it will be with Pokemon launching in November and Smash Bros. in December?
due to microsoft's overwhelming success with the rdr2 promo, nintendo is planning a similar offer with $ 100 discount on the switch when you buy a labo kit. From what I saw the One X was mostly pushed by the trade promo at gamestop + the $100 off with RDR2.
That and Super Mario Party are the most impressive legs for the month for sure
So if we count bundles Spidey is gonna do over 5 million in the US alone this year probably
Sorry, i didnt mean to trigger some sort of bet to happen. I was just saying that you cant be 100% sure about something just like how i wasnt sure if the NS bundle and pokemon launch is enough to keep up with ps4 spiderman bundle.

No way in hell does Switch sell less this Q4 than 2017. Absolutely silly to even suggest that. The Switch absolutely will not outsell PS4 in 2018.

2 things to remember though
1) The trade promo only worked on the One X that didnt have the game. Did not work on NBA or Fallout
2) Most stores did not have a lot of stock of the game less One X bundle so that hurt the potential sales.
Once those systems ran out, people lost interest in just getting a One X with RDR 2.

Xbox One had like a dozen SKU's selling during that deal. You can't use one SKU not reaching a certain rank as evidence for anything.I've tracked Gamestop online bestsellers list for PS4 and X1 since X1 RDR 2 started at 25th Oct. and it lasted till 3rd Nov. Neither X1 console with RDR 2 didn't reached top 50 in 10 days, while PS4 RDR 2 bundle was at top 10 ( 6th and 7th place till 2nd Nov. ), just below PSN cards and RDR 2.

Also, unless Sony has the $199 deal in December, expect it to get destroyed by Switch. 2017 already showed what is in store for PS4 sales if they only have the $199 deal in Black Friday week + Cyber Monday. December alone can make up all the difference between Switch and PS4.
