Pikachu doesn't know how many years he has left on this earth and he's gotten real weird with it.

I'm impressed the main kid isn't a white guy. And it looks way more expensive, polished and clever than I expected. Genuinely looks good.

I'm loving everything about this. Sure it'll take a little while to get used to Reynolds' voice because of Deadpool but I think no matter who they chose the initial shock would have been the same.

Really really really can't wait!

Interesting they cut the trailer in such a way to remind the viewers about their childhood goal of being a trainer. This will I think hit a lot of 20 somethings who grew up with Pokemon and maybe aren't into it anymore.
Very clever way of including more age groups and demos than just the hardcore fans.

Everyone complaining that the Pocket MONSTERS look horrifying has been missing the joke for two full decades

Lots of fans are going to inevitably dislike the style of the Pokémon, but I believe literally anything is more inspired than gen 7 models.
I think it looks fantastic! <3

This YT comment gets it:
"Did these Warner Bros. mf's actually pull off a live action Pokemon movie."

This actually looks really good. I dig how the Pokemon look, Pikachu is really cute.
Jigglypuff being furry weirds me out though.

Looks fantastic. I don't even like Pokemon. Definitely excited for this now. Can't believe all the purists complaining about inane things like the length of Pikachu's hair. All these Pokemon look about how I'd expect them to.

Actually looks very interesting. I didn't expect that. Also, it has the undoubted best pokemon Psyduck, so that is a supreme plus.

I really really dig the art style. For some reason I was thinking this movie was going to take place in "the real world" so when I saw the "Sinnoh League" poster in his bed, I got chills. The world building in this movie is next level and seems to have been done by some really dedicated Pokemon fans.

One small gripe about Pokemon I've had, ever since I was a kid, is that it lacks any sort of contextualization. So, it's always on the player to imagine encountering a wild Pidgey or clearing space to have a battle with a random trainer. Attempts at introducing context to this world are usually pretty poor ala the mainline Pokemon anime which kind of breaks the world to present a weekly anime instead of accurately portraying the world fleshed out in the games. (That's why I liked the Origins anime so much!) This seems like a really cool way to present the Pokemon world in a realistic and believable way. The Detective Pikachu angle makes sense because it gives the story something to dwell on outside of Pokemon battles which probably wouldn't have worked with this visual style. So, you're not breaking the world in the way the anime seems to do. But you're still contextualizing and fleshing out the world we've spent hundreds of hours imagining since we were kids... and that has me really excited.

We'll see when it comes out but as of right now my hype level went from 0 to 100 after this trailer. Despite the fact I don't think the trailer itself was all that great, I really enjoyed everything that was in it.

Why is Jigglypuff hairy. Pikachu looks a little too hairy as well. Danny Devito would have been a crazy casting seeing the trailer now, but I would have loved it. Movie looks okay, will see since it can't possibly be the worst movie to watch next year.

Ok, this looks weird as all hell but damn it, I kinda like it.

Seeing a realistic pikachu with fur, is kinda jarring.
That Pika Pika scene though... I was on the floor laughing.

It looks bad, and yet serviceable. Which is still way better than I expected it to be, I guess.

Not having much of an interest in the Pokémon franchise prior to this I gotta say I'm impressed. This looks way better than I ever thought it would and if it turns out it's actually good I'll be catching this in the theaters for sure.

I'll be honest, I'm much more interested in this than a traditional Pokemon movie.

I love it!

First good Pokemon movie ever? First good Pokemon movie ever.

The art style is mean to be a little off putting. Having anything similar to the games would just be too weird and anything hyper realistic looking would be too dull. The animatronic look makes it feel real enough while letting you know this is a different world of magic.
