What do a Constable, a pink Critter and a Mummy have in common? They're coming to Nintendo Switch! The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, The Raven Remastered and Sphinx and the cursed Mummy are coming to Nintendo Switch early 2019!

THQ Nordiq: "I can't hold all these IPs!"

Haven't played any of these. Looking forward to learning more about them!

THQ Nordic is putting in the work getting stuff on Switch, it's delightful to see.

Knowing they hold the TimeSplitters IP too...we can only hope...

Sphinx is actually pretty good for a zelda-ish game. Enjoyed it on Gamecube.

I've been playing Sphinx on PC for the past week and it's a pretty good Zelda clone with some platforming mixed in. If you miss pre-BotW 3D Zelda like I do then you should really consider getting it.

Nice, I'll gladly pick up Sphinx. I watched my SO play through the PS2 version a few years ago and she thought it had held up.

Oddly enough the Switch is first console in getting the remaster ported to the system.

Not at all. Not only is Nintendo the biggest market for mascot adventure/platforming games, but Switch was specifically named as the potential destination for a release when they bought the IP.

My only question is who's behind the Switch version.

Sphinx! Well there's a game I didn't think I'd ever see again. Purchased it for the GameCube at some point during that era and it surprised me by how good it actually was. Pretty decent Zelda-clone with some fun and sometimes hilarious moments with the mummy segments.

God dam it, I'm so use to seeing THQ Nordic acquire IPs, that I automatically assumed after reading THQ Nordic, that the rest of the sentence was going to be, "acquires -".

Ohhhh Sphinx! Do I play it again and risk my nostalgic fondness for it being ruined by a game that hasn't aged well? Or is there a chance it still holds up?

Time to replay "The book of unwritten tales 2". An amazing point & click adventure with a long campaign and a terrible cliffhanger ending which will never be resolved (probably).

It's insane how The Raven keeps on living. Game came out some 5 years ago and as far as I knew it went by without making a splash, then out of nowhere a remaster and even a Switch port later on.

Legit shocked Rad Rodgers wasn't among the announcements, since it was most recently listed at EB Games and rated by the ESRB over the past month.

Book and Raven were leaked before via Brazilian ratings, as I myself found. :P

I will be happy to support THQ-Nordic as soon as they drop the stupid Switch tax

Bought Book of Unwritten Tales 2 for the Wii U a couple years back.. havnt played it despite it looking like my cup of tea. Probably should play it...

Would be even more delighted if their Switch content didnt always include a heavy Switch tax.

I think This is the Police 2 and upcoming Pillars of Eternity 2 have the same price across platforms which should be agood sign for other upcoming games from them I'd say, hopefully this is the case with these ones.

But outside of those they have been the worst with the Switch tax.

why not do darksiders 1 and 2 instead? those will probably sell more than whatever they've brought to switch so far.

Nice. In for the Raven, need to see what Sphinx is all about as far as difficulty, will wait for reviews on unwritten tales 2 (I love point and clicks but this one apparently did not review well when it came out).

In a perfect world, Sphinx will sell massively well and produce a sequel.

Did they fix the game breaking Sphinx bug?
Are you referring to the bug where if you reloaded a save at a one-time location you would be permanently stuck? If so, yes. That bug was seemingly only in the NTSC version. The PC remaster is based on the PAL version. As answered by the developer on Steam:
There's a lot of legend and lore surrounding this bug which I would like to clear up. For instance, it wasn't present in the European (PAL) release of the original game that was published on February 20, 2004.

It was fixed back then, and the recent PC port is based on the latest code they had. They also improved many other things; including performance, out of map skips and monster spawn points. That's why speed-runners like the original USA version (NTSC) better, because the PAL version is so well rounded that they can't use many of the original collision defects to parkour and skip half of the game by diving into the skybox. One person's bug might be another person's feature. :)

TL;DR: Yes, it is patched.

The length is really outstandig, took me by surprise. The first isn't short either, but after 2 was funded etc I expected it to be rather shorter instead of longer.
Could use a little patch though, the PC retail version is kinda strange. Has a few bugs and is missing puzzles the digital version has. Weird. :/

Hell yeah, in for Sphinx. Played it on GC and absolutely loved it. They don't make action adventure titles like those anymore.

Sphinx? Holy shit, really?

I thought that was one of those mascot attempts that was doomed to obscurity.

I don't understand how THQ Nordic hasn't gone bust yet. Buying the rights to tons of old games, rereleases of old games, a couple of commercial failures, and, well Darksiders 3 next. Which as much as I would love to hope does well is probably going to flame out with a whimper.

Sphinx is a lot of fun, eurocoms best game. Been playing the pc version off and on this year and it still holds up
