Oh yeah, speaking of DCEU, Aquaman is next month, any projections on how that is going to do.

Are people even going to take Aquaman seriously? I feel like they are going too far in the other direction to try and make Aquaman cool with Mamoa so far and his bro attitude.
What other version of Aquaman were you exposed to? His character and lore is taken seriously in animated movies and comics. Besides Mamoa isn't super serious in the role. He jokes a lot and is having maybe too much fun in the trailers. A movie that constantly has to make us aware that his powers are silly would get annoying. I think audiences are more open to the idea of just even liking Aquaman. If it bombs it will more than likely be due to it's association with the DCEU and/or the movie is reviewing badly.

I know a far bit of Aquaman, obviously the super friends one is the infamous one that's tainted him the most, I also recall a lot of the "Trying to make Aquaman the most badass thing ever" phase, with stuck like that time he got a hook arm. And obviously we have Aquabro from Momoa at the moment who I'm not convinced by.

This is the best version of Aquaman, fight me on it.

Including the opening, it's just not listed yet; sometimes BOM does or doesn't update the 'as of' total properly and it still reflects the unupdated totals (i'd know since I've tabulated it for things like BP). In this case the total is accurate, just not the listing per country (that gets updated on tuesdays).

Even without China the film is good for another 20-45m total, China could go as low as another 60 million with basically no legs, or add at least 110m. Either way 800m is very likely and 750m is locked.

Venom coming within 10% striking range of tying Spider-Man Homecoming (880m) and Thor Ragnarok (853m) will be something. That's something to think about when saying that Venom was beat by X movie.

Doctor Strange is falling next at 678m. Winter Soldier is done at 713 million and Guardians 1 is very likely to go down at 773m.

Off the top of my head I think the only MCU Stand Alones left standing will be Spider-Man Homecoming, Guardians 2, Thor Ragnarok, Iron Man 3, and Black Panther.

But if China goes apeshit 1 or 2 of those could fall. We'll have to wait a few days to see what kind of trajectory Venom will have, but the strong numbers even on Nov 11th are very encouraging.

Are we sure this Robin Hood movie isn't part of a international money laundering scheme?

AMC text me to get excited for Robin Hood. The marketing has been terrible.

Jamie Foxx looks like he is pranking some naive kid into doing some crazy shit

Gambit always had potential as did Venom Era has a very skewered perception on the mainstream popularity of characters most commonly many people on here think there own bias against these characters translate globally. Even when such characters have already proven their popularity.
Gambit was popular in the 90s cartoon so it could have done great like Venom .

I still can't wrap my head around those Venom numbers, or how it beat Justice League.

The DCEU was horrendously mismanaged.

Yeah. It Gambit ever happened, it could've done well. There's enough cultural cachet around the character.

Honestly if they don't bungle Spawn, I could see that being pretty successful.

Venom was legit way better than the JL. So I can't be mad that it's doing well. Sometimes it's okay to have fun watching a schlocky, uneven movie.

Also, they need to stop trying to make Claire Foy happen. She's great in the Crown, but I can't say I've liked her in anything else.

Venom ain't topping Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman, though. Justice League, like Solo, is its own messy situation.

We have to draw a line somewhere

I'll go a step further and say they could make a shot for shot remake of the 90s Spawn movie and it'd do decently well. Keep the CGI monsters with static mouths and all.

Blumhouse is funding Spawn. Good or bad they'll make their budget back and then some. That movie is gonna be cheap.

I just remembered Jamie Foxx is Spawn

Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner are the two leads. And reading up, it'll be directed by Todd McFarlane himself.

Which, if IMDB to believed, is the first non-music video he'll direct. Unless Korn Freak on a Leash and Disburbed Land of Confusion are something else entirely.

Are you sure about that? Lol

Suicide Squad is at $746M and Wonder Woman is at $821M. SS is for sure getting toppled, and WW might be as well depending on China. All in all, Venom is going to come close to WW at minimum when it's all said and done.

Suicide Squad never opened in China.

Don't think the Deadpool movies did, either. Actually has me wondering if that Holiday version they're making will release over there. Never got what the issue was with those. Suicide Squad and I want to say Ghostbusters dealing with paranormal stuff kept them from opening in China.

I tried to watch The Grinch last night. I made it about 2/3 of the way before I left. It's not terrible, but I was just really bored after a while and I didn't care to finish it to the end.
Sounds like an Illumination movie. The truest form of bland, inoffensive, disposable entertainment. Sucks that they get Mario, but then it's not like it would have ever been Pixar or WDAS.

I am so happy for Venom.

I had so much fun with that movie, a lot of it sucks, but the most important parts (Hardy) are so good.

It's too bad we never got a sequel to the 2011 version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo when it seemed like most on board wanted to do it.

Edit: This new one is directed by the guy who did the Evil Dead remake and Don't Breathe? Hard pass.

Yea I really like what David Fincher and co created, it's a shame they did not continue.

Surprised The Grinch didn't have a larger opening weekend, maybe early before Christmas?

Way to early, the 30th would have been prime. A christmas movie after black Friday shopping has to be a thing

I always wondered who he pissed off to have the career he has had. Dude is too talented to be getting CW villain gigs

I think he just came to early when Hollywood had their quota filled with Denzel and Wesley at the time. While at the same time missing the martial arts kick with Chan and Li in a year or two.

What I'm surprised is no HBO or Showtime series has picked him up yet. He seems like one of those guys destined for something good over there.
