Very disappointing showing. Especially after no sunset overdrive update or PC announcement. Seemed like nothing bar the acquisition of a company.

Killzone 2 & 3 were great games, 2 especially. Shadow fall was ok.

I hear this all the time from MS, it's like they keep saying great things will come but they are still in the same position. Games like Quantum Break & Sunset Overdrive were cool but they need more of that. I am looking forward to seeing what Playground games can pull off in their next title, a new Fable would be amazing and I hope it gets a bit budget to really make it the best it can be.
Well, I disagree about those KZs, but it doesn't really change the point. When the studio was acquired, its portfolio was weak, those games came later.

I really hope Fable is a serious, AAA open world action RPG. I fear it'll be focused on co-op questing, less on providing a huge, immersive single player world to explore. I think it'll be the big test of if Game Pass has effectively killed MS making single player focused major games, as I fear.

If the Initiative is making a Tomb Raider-rivalling Perfect Dark, that could be really exciting. So far, MS haven't shipped anything this gen that's spoken to me. Quantum Break with its cheesy bullshit live action. I really don't like Insomniac's work at all, but they're at their most unbearable in Sunset Overdrive's writing and style. But it doesn't really matter as long as MS make the better console. As long as Sony's console is weaker and sounds like quad-copter attacking my TV, I'm going to be playing everything I can on the X.

Every generation I hope I can get away without buying all the systems, and every generation I'm wrong.

if PS5 and X2 are relasing at same time, power advantage will be negligible as they are both dependent on AMD for tech .Not to mention that some of the patents for Navi GPU is co registered by AMD and Sony .
looks like both are releasing 2020. so both will be within 10 to 15% of each other which means nothing when we are talking about 12 TF vs 14TF . (one will over clock the same GPU adn gain a bit of power advantage to have bragging right which is great but wont mean much in actual game difference)

but if sony launches 2019 then for sure MS can be stronger in 2020 due to 7nm+ node.

I'll buy which ever is more powerful. I'll buy a ps5 for exclusives at a certain point. I don't think ms will be in a rush to put a console out and I expect it 6 to 12 months after the ps5. Probably will cost more but I'll pay a premium for an x quality console. It's going to be interesting.

I have absolutely no shadow of doubt that the next Xbox will be more powerful. Let's see what that gap is.

Ms built it up as such, didnt major nelson tweet something it's not e3 level but close?. That and the build up had people's expectations raised.
Literally the only evidence that people have of MS hyping this up to be a massive event is a misinterpreted tweet from Major a couple of hours before it started.

Actually no. What is going on here would be like season ticket holders giving shit to fans who only attend a handful of games a season when they give their opinion at a fan event.

Or the pub regulars that whine about the people who only go out at New Year.

Seems odd that criticism is deemed only the privilege of the hard core fans - and they never tend to criticise anyway.

There is not much that they would be able to add if all they are doing is launching 6 months to a year later. In 2016 they already knew what the console was going to release with when it came to specs.

Yeah this is classic, the clearly xbox fanboys trying to push the notion that anyone disagreed that this poor event was not able to be fun for anyone but fans. LOL

I thought the show was ok. It was certainly one of the better Xbox inside shows. I think the kingdom hearts 3/ final fantasy segments messed with the pacing of the show and kind of dampened the energy, but apart from that I was pleased with the content.

Sea of thieves arena looks great, and hopefully it lowers the amount of trolls in adventure mode.

Forza horizon expansion looks incredible. I will certainly try that.

Hellblade on gamepass. I can't wait.

Pubg on gamepass. I already have it, but now all my friends will have it too.

I actually really enjoyed the hype levels of the crowd, it looked like a lot of fun being there and I actually laughed at the 'sea of thieves' chant.

It's always interesting to have read these kind of threads in the lead-up to a conference, and then compare the tonal shift afterwards if it turns out underdelivering. (I'm not personally saying it underdelivered, but seemingly a lot of people felt it did?)

Suddenly you're basically called an idiot for expecting anything worthwhile, when mere days ago people were in hype mode with their speculating caps on, dreaming about the potential for the wildest reveals and announcements. I didn't see anyone poo-poo-ing that kind fervor and excitement then, but hindsight is always 20/20. It's the easiest thing in the world to drop in here and act like everything went exactly like planned and that people were delusional if they expected more than a two-hour Gamepass advert. It's even easier to dismiss all the criticism with a snarky holier-than-thou attitude of 'i'm just laughing, never change ERA' etcetera. Those comments really get the worthwhile discussion going, surely.

A major positive for me was Phil saying he's going to beef up Windows support. I also like that Xbox isn't going to force PC developers to make console games.

I wonder sometimes if Twitter and gaming forums are actually a net positive for the video game industry with all of the constant negativity about everything, which is really sad when we are all talking about playing games. For my family we enjoyed the show for the following key items:

  • Crackdown 3 Wrecking Zone mode looks really unique and fun, glad to see that it is dated for 2/15 instead of launching on the same day as Anthem and Metro Exodus, will definitely be putting a lot of hours into the campaign and multiplayer it seems
  • Crackdown (which is now X enhanced to native 4K) being free through November 30th was really cool, as honestly I never played this original game for whatever reason and will have to check things out with the new one coming
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Xbox Game Pass was big for me, although honestly I may even buy this one too to support a smaller developer that makes incredible games
  • Void Bastards (and on Game Pass) definitely looked like something very different which I like, and it is cool that it is coming to console on Xbox first
  • Secret Neighbor - my boys were excited about getting to play this one on Game Pass
  • Sea of Thieves new Arena mode - I will admit that I personally haven't been as into the game yet, but this shorter type of engagement mode where I could play with my boys does sound like a way for me to try it again
  • Forza Horizon 4 DLC - This game is so amazing already (only Red Dead Redemption 2 has me taking a break right now), and this DLC looks incredible, will definitely be buying this
  • Keyboard and Mouse Support - Just liked hearing about plans for support, although my boys went crazy when they announced Fortnite support here because they play that game and are partial to K+M on FPS games
  • InXile and Obsidian studios - These are megatons for me because RPG gaming is what really got me into video gaming in general on PC originally, so seeing Xbox put this kind of diversity (far more variety on the Xbox first party studio side now than Sony for example) into their continued financial commitment to first party content was amazing
  • Devil May Cry 5 'Void Mode' - This "training" mode looks absolutely perfect for me, as I am not the greatest at learning combos and such in these types of games

Well that major guy already announces the gamepass games via twitter? was he busy or something? At least E3 announced new games lol what was the new game announced at this?

Yeah Microsoft has still a lot to learn on how to produce events besides E3.

Inside Xbox and X018 are basically fluff events, with no major announcements, skippable if you aren't an hardcore Xbox fan, while on the other hand sometimes fans of Nintendo and Sony have bigger expectations for the Directs or PSX than their E3 shows.

Well yeah, if you're putting on a show you better have something important to say. Some company's even skip a year if they don't.. I mean.... this gen I feel like Microsoft is the youngest sibling giving a wet mushed cookie to mummy and daddy, hoping to get some attention.

You say that but Sony aren't desperate to release the PS5 first with how the PS4 is selling currently, no rush at all.

I think it comes down to fanboysim to be honest. Sony fanboys disguises themselves as Xbox fans during events like these, and tweets and posts negatively to make the event look bad. The opposite for Sony events. Tons of examples in this thread alone. Unfortunately I cannot give you examples, as that might get me banned, ironically.

Yeah i won't read the thread because i'm sure it's a cesspool of shitty console warriors

I didn't like the event at all. I'm happy and hyped that Winter of Arcade is back (a different summer of arcade) and i'm pretty sure Below is taking part in it, and i honestly CANT WAIT FOR THAT GAME jesus i want it

Ori 1 and 2 on Game Pass was really cool, too

Also, Obsidian and InXile not having budget issues anymore make me really hyped for the future. The Forza expansion looked amazing. Didn't like the arena patch for SoT, didn't get interested in the State of Decay content and overall it was a mess of a show pacing wise. Also, shouldn't have named it X0.

Can't wait for TGA.

Hell blade and Good Life (this one was a surprise!) going to GamePass is great news.

I liked the event. Lots of announcements, added value for GamePass, some indie showcase (a new Ooblets trailer would've been nice!) and more studios.

Cool stuff.

Edit: Also, more mouse and keyboard talk! Can't wait to see how it is implemented, hopefully developers use it.

Looking back and sleeping on it, I think the game objective of this X018 was to push Gamepass. It's very clear.

I mean, there wasn't any major gaming announcements. We were expecting Gears 5 or maybe Rocksteady game reveal. Nope, nothing. It was only a 2 hours Gamepass advertising exercise.

It's fine with me, but not sure it was a good idea to hype it up this much.

There is no way around it. This event blew ass. I expected nothing and was still disappointed. The pacing and structure sucked, the personalities we're annoying. It was just a 2 hour infomercial on gamepass. That's neat and all, but for an annual Xbox exclusive event it should have been a little bit more.

I've watched standard Inside Xbox shows that we're better.

This thread is really amazing. Just reading sone of these posts. Sp much frustration and pent up rage. I can't wait to get home and play some red dead on the x.

Thanks for a decent show ms. I can't wait for the forza expansion it looks amazing. Keep doing your thing with games pass and bc.

Please patch sunset overdrive. Please! That's my one disappointment from this...no announcement.

What's crazy was that a couple of mods basically said what the show would be, we go a couple of tweets of what the show would be, then before the show started there was a detailed list of what to expect.

I mean, seriously, if you came into the show expecting more than the half a dozen, blatant notifications of EXACTLY what to expect, that's your own fault. If reading and comprehension is a challenge for you l, stick Find Waldo or Hasbro.

What Sony did or didnt is irrelevant to what X0 would end up being

Its a fan event that they detailed what it would happen on right before the show. Expecting anything more is totally on you. Thinking it was a press conference its totally on you (its a marketing show, like every other inside xbox was). Wanting Scarlett news and nothing but new announcements is totally on you. There were people here complaining about the fans and saying it would be better if they did it with closed doors when it's a freaking fan event to begin with. You people are getting mad, upset and disappointed because whatever you had in your heads didnt happen but it was never promised anyway

I would love to know if the State of Decay updates have made the companions and events better.

They seemed to focus on multiplayer when I really wanted a deeper simulation and systems. Hopefully this update brings that but I'm not to confidant with what they showed

You can't take it seriously, it's just bitterness and pent up frustration. Most people who are being overly negative probably don't have an Xbox or have any intention of buying one or using W10 but positive news for a platform they don't have access too will always result it embarrassingly childish comments. I think it's cute :)

So many defenders. I am a huge Xbox fan. It's the only place I play games. This show sucked. I don't care how much they telegraphed it, it sucked. Not just the content either: the delivery, the hosts, the structure. Everything was really bad.

You bought an x because of this event?

I already had an S. So I upgraded because of all the talk surrounding how Phil and MS are bringing the games back. I was hoping ghis event would solidify it. They showed nothing of the sort. Before 2013 i was a crazy Xbox gamer. I still have over 400 360 games and 3 consoles and they still set up.

Days of the 360 in November? Reminds to 2013? This is some amazing hyperbole.

YES, i was hoping they could go back to the glory days of the 360 pre kinect. What does being November have to do with that? And also yes, the way Major Nelson twisted his tweet, echoed the online requirement bullshit of 2013. You know whats hyperbole?

I have absolutely no shadow of doubt that the next Xbox will be more powerful. Let's see what that gap is.

I see now there is no point. I didnt like the show. Im not alone. They hyped it up to let me down. I hold no allegiance to any company and will call them when they do wrong.

Amazing insight. I couldn't care less though. Games will basically look and play the same on both platforms. There won't be bigger maps, double framerates, better AI, more foliage or denser NPC crowds. I personally have zero interest in the studios MS recently acquired. PS5 will be my next console most likely.

It's amazing adult gamers can care so much for what small spec difference there will be next gen. Just play on the platform your friends play on and which one has the most interesting exclusives and features for you. And enjoy it without worrying about specs.

Because I assume they want to gain more traction than they did this gen and for that to happen they'll have to match Sony's price or face a repeat of this gen.

Unless of course the next Xbox really is far and away that much better that the price tag is justified.

You see there is no point? Phil clearly said we brought the most powerful console out. Something we will continue to do. Do you think Microsoft will let that slide again? The Xbox was always about power from it's inception. Something Phil also re iterated recently.
If that's not important to you as a consumer that is completely fine. For me I like the best hardware available no matter who makes it. The x is that and I'm confident the next Xbox will be.

Why are we even going back and forth over this lol. To me it seems like you're the one that blindly went out and bought an Xbox and got triggered by this event. Feel free to put me on your ignore list and I'll do the same. Take it easy and I would advise selling your one X if you aren't happy with it.

I personally purchase something based on will I be happy with it now. If it's a yes then I'll purchase it. Then if a nice surprise like the recent superior x third party games come along, it's even better.
