You have answered your own question there son...unless there were some leaks about a Scarlett/First Party reveal I'm not aware of?....No? Didn't think so.

Also, the "it was a mess" quote is clearly referring to his segment, not the overall show. I mean, unless you think a dev invited to a console event would actually refer to the event as a "mess" afterwards?

Not liking the show as it was is fine, opinions and all. Not liking the show because it didn't meet your unrealistic expectations is disingenuous at best, even those hyping the show didn't expect Scarlett or First Party stuff.

Be realistic, I was disappointed I didn't get to see Ashen or Below as I felt these could have been shown. But I'd also hyped myself up for X enhancements for ME 1, 2 & 3 but I'm not disappointed they weren't announced as it wasn't really on the cards that was just on me.
Not everything is leaked. Surprises are often kept, so no I'm not wrong in this instance. Are we wrong to expect anything, if the publisher doesn't reveal anything and nothing is leaked beforehand? That makes no sense. You're saying that for something to be reasonably expected, it has to either be hinted at by the event organiser or be leaked, and no other scenario as in a first-party GAME show, where no first-party GAMES are announced? I say that's bs.

And yes, devs have occasionally outright said negative towards others in the industry who they work closely with. Just look at Kamiya-san who openly said negative things about Microsoft during a time where they were the publisher of his game, so I don't think it's outlandish for someone with much less of a contract with MS to openly comment about what they think. In this case it looks like it might have been mistranslated to "mess" instead of "chaos", though, so we can discard that - it wasn't even my main point, it just ended my point.

Eh, from what I've seen of your posts, you don't really come off as an Xbox fan. Hell, just Ori 1 and 2 being announced on gamepass was enough to make the entire event worth it for me.

Good for you, but as a fan, I already own it on disc, cause I supported them and even imported it cause it never got physically released here in Europe. So much to that.
(2 is already planned to be bought on disc too, if that hopefully gets released)

And yes, these are fantastic announcements, no doubts about that. But also, kinda expected.

I never said it was. I said the amount of TWEETING may be near E3 levels. No where did I claim that the show was equal in tonnage to E3 announcements.
Thank you, Major. Apparently this response from you was extremely necessary as some seem to struggle with basic reading comprehension.

Well that's how you top your Black Friday ad. A Ron Burgundy spoof.

I'm probably gonna buy an Xbox 1X after this show and get Game pass.

The announcement of Gears 5 and Halo Infinite at the E3 are what convinced me to get an X (already had an S). I've already got my investment back with 4K Gears 4 (best looking game I've ever played) and the enhanced version of Battlefront 2, but it would have been nice to see that progress is being made on those games and have some assurance on whether they are coming out next year to begin with.

More first party studios means more first party games which means more games launching on Gamepass.

That seems like a good reason to be excited for studio acquisitions.

I dunno not really.
Like they might make a bad game. Saying we bought this studio doesn't really make me excited at all. If they show off a good game that's much better.

The black friday ad was one of the best things Ive seen all year. Now that I have won my AZ senate seat bet I'll probably pick up the one X, although I'll admit that playing Bioshock Infinite at 60FPS is one of my main reasons why

So don't get hyped and expect things that could very easily not be showcased?

I wasn't expecting much and so I wasn't necessarily disappointed. Seeing crackdown 3 again was fine but I'm kinda at a point where I simply don't care until I can actually play it. The studio acquisition itself is great cause Obsidian deserves a bigger budget to play with but I still don't see how these things are worthy of being mentioned in a conference geared towards gamers. It's honestly a little odd.

Plus the fact that Gears 5 wasn't even teased a tad was really disappointing. That franchise is huge in Mexico, it made perfect sense to have some type of Gears presence. All in all it was extremely forgettable and wasn't worthy of a 2 hour conference style event.

Gears has an X018 panel tomorrow.

No, I'm not saying that. I myself expected to see something from Ashen and/or Below, as did you. That is a realistic expectation that didn't end up happening.

Expecting Scarlett/new FP reveals is not remotely realistic for an event that was clearly described before hand as a special episode of Inside Xbox at a FanFest in Mexico.

MS sent out information on what would be shown, with the addendum of "some suprises", did you really expect MS to reveal Scarlett in some form with no fanfare whatsoever, under the umbrella term of a "suprise" at an inside Xbox event? Really? I'm not buying it.

It is safe to say, if Scarlett is revealed in some form at an event outside of E3, EVERYONE will know about it.

And with respect to your first party game comment, we know what games are in the pipeline that could be ready to show, and that's Gears and Halo. It was made clear well before the event Halo wouldn't be there and Gears has a panel at the event tomorrow (again, announced before the show). Were you hoping for Fable? A game from the Initiative? We know these are too far out for reveals at this stage so I'm not sure what you were realistically expecting?

Like my pic said. I expected nothing.

It's not my fault that they weren't even showing the most obvious and 99% safe things like Sunset Overdrive or Age of Empires.
Sunset is coming to PC and steam, where was it? No X patch is mind boggling if it doesn't happen.
Also, a whole lot of keyboard compatible games but no Age of Empires? Like, what? How?

At least it wasn't a 100% disappointment, I'm very exited for the FF XIII trilogy X patches.

My suggestion/feedback regarding presentation to Inside Xbox hosts:

  • I loved the enthusiasm of the audience
  • Opening on Crackdown was the right note. Would've been better if there was explanation of the multiplayer game modes. (I am happy to hear Certain Affinity is involved. How though?).
  • Releasing the Game Pass stuff throughout the show was a good approach...though would've saved one of the bigger names for the end.

Negatives:
  • Show lost energy 2nd half.
  • Poor tempo. I think it's tough to maintain energy with so many interviews. A faster, shorter show that teases deeper dives with a developer interview session after the show would work better. The interviews during the show are not substantial enough to really be entertaining or informational yet they slow the show down. Worst of both worlds.
  • Chemistry of the hosts. As someone who's followed Xbox since it launched in 2001, I like and appreciate Major Nelson. There's something wrong with the chemistry of the group on stage. People don't compliment each other. Comes across forced. Feels too rehearsed. That was especially apparent when contrasted to the crowd. Hosts also didn't do a good job playing off of the crowd. Need some authentic, inspirational energy during a live show that's trying to create a more personal atmosphere.
Also:
  • Why tell everyone there's going to be two studio purchases to start? Kills the delivery. Now no matter what is announced, it's not going to be good enough. Inxhile should've been a pleasant surprise. People built up Sega by the end of the show.
  • When revealing the studios, talk more about what those studios are known for. There is a large consensus of reviewers who've talked glowingly about their storytelling and world building. Those are things that Xbox gamers have been wanting more of.
  • Know your audience - Couldn't give Mexico anything Gears? If you're doing interviews, nothing with Coalition? No announcement of Gears Tactics with mouse and keyboard on Xbox?

I mean it's pretty much what I expected alot of game pass stuff. It's getting pretty tough not to get in on that right now if you have a Xbox.

The no big new games isnt a surprise as I expect game awards to have some new stuff. This was a pretty decent filler of existing stuff. As a non Xbox console owner I am still a little disappointed on not much news on the PC front. But I don't have really an big expectations except maybe what PC game pass will look like. As long as they continue to put first party on PC I am happy and it looks like the brand will hopefully shine in the coming years.

Kinda boring, and all this announcement of new studios wreaks of throwing a bunch of money at things and seeing what sticks.

Still if nothing else, next gen I'll get an Xbox as a secondary console to play Gamepass for a good 2 months since its great value. But yeah, I'm not really an Xbox fan so all I saw was in 3-4 years it's going to be awesome, errmm maybe.
(game development)

Happy people are excited about the brand tho, just still doesn't look like I need an Xbox unless Halo is genre defining again or I want to play Forza.

I really like Major Nelson.

I was extremely disappointed with the Game Pass list. Only Hellblade and Ori 2 for me. I was hoping for bigger games than we got.

Do we have the full December list? I hope not.

The rest of the show honestly felt like a complete waste of time. Sorry.

Well good to know some of the Xbox folks browse these forums. You know, just in case I mistakenly mention how much I want a Banjo-Kazooie remake or an Alan Wake 2. ;)

Super underwhelming and with Sony skipping PSX, they had opportunity to blow people away. Instead we got that...thing.

I think Xbox will be pretty boring for the next few years. But man, when next-gen launches (which is hopefully in 2020), Xbox will have some big stuff prepared.
