Actually, Sou Da, you just don't understand how 20 pages of a monster raping the lead character is a deep commentary on the Lovecraftian universe and its themes.
The last issue was giant masturbatory conversation about how Lovecraft stories should end while the world was ending. Several issues before that had a character that was constantly reminded to the reader to be 13 being graphically raped by the main character.

At the very fucking least I can say that he's really bad at horror.

Yes, let's take two works from a prolific writer and extrapolate that he or she is a hack. Are you serious?
Calling someone a hack is a tad hyperbolic tbf

Sou Da so by your logic, I read two, well three, of your posts and I think you are one of the stupidest posters on era. Does that work for you?

And have you read early Moore, or do you just want to flog the same texts over and over? What a dumbass...

Moore's swamp thing was decent horror

To add on, the crow transformation in particular will stick with me for some time

Can we maybe stop getting so hurt by a person's opinion on a writer that has nothing to do with you? That'd be great.

I would say Alan Moore is a hack, but he has passed his period of peak performance. It happens. Frank Miller has a series of genre-defining runs, but his name and work no longer excite me. Chris Claremont defined the X-Men, but his name on a book in 2018 is an easy pass. Gerry Conway was a top-tier creator with a great Spider-Man run under his belt, but he's B and C tier today. The same is true of Moore. I can respect his contributions without thinking that he does great work now.

(He doesn't.)

The difference between Alan Moore and Sou Da is one is a writer who doesn't care what someone on a message board says about him, and the other is a fellow member of this board.

Calm down, hoss.

.
This is my point; get some historical/textual context and argue for an oeuvre, not just the latest texts.

Read From Hell and tell me Moore is "really bad at horror." I mean, it's like you are actively trying to have shit opinions and cherry-pick evidence.

How else will they learn to correct their stupid opinions? And were we talking to you?
You've used the word opinion twice, yet don't seem to get what it means at all.

And stop being so aggressive toward people.

Some opinions are more valid than others; e.g., ones that deal with the entire complexity of an artist's work/career, and ones that look at a few texts. Are those opinions (interpretations) more valid? I think not.

Sure, but Sou Da is allowed to have his opinion, even if you disagree with it. No need to get aggressive with him.

Finished reading through Hungry Ghosts earlier today. Fun little collection of horror stories. The premise holding them together is that a group of rich patrons and a bunch of famous chefs sit down after a charity dinner and decide to play a game of Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai. Very cool set up and each of the artist for the stories told have come in with a great art style. Some of the 'adaptations' of the monsters work well and some don't but there are a couple of stand-out stories for sure.

And just for VanWinkle - A super well made HC btw, even though it is a regular trim size. Great paper quality and has a bookmark ribbon too!

Alan Moore's far from a hack, he's just a dick. I can't imagine stanning for him so hard you wind up insulting other people over it.

Haven't posted any hauls in a couple months, so figured I'd post what I've gotten. The only thing that's missing from shit I've gotten is Tell Me, Dark which I bought back in September 27th and was supposed to get here 2 days ago but still no dice. Germany's shipping sucks, y'all.

The great irony with Moore is that as much as he hates the Big Two, he did some of his best work while working for DC. His work afterwards hasn't reached the same heights imo, though I would not go as far as to call him a hack. Didn't he switch to novels or something like Gaiman? Either that or become a Archwizard.

Mmm. I don't know that I can agree with this. What I've read of Swamp thing was good(just the first trade), but it's not Top Ten or Tom Strong. The ABC concept in general is brilliant to me, and its a testament to his absurd talents he was able to churn out so much quality work.

Woah those manga in that first pic look awesome. Didn't know they released them in such large volumes. How is Blade of the Immortal and Samurai Executioner? Are most of those still in print, aside from the lone wolf and cub?

I just finished Lone Wolf and Cub, so I haven't gotten around to reading Blade of the Immortal and Samurai Executioner just yet. Blade of the Immortal is still in print and super easy to find, I got those volumes from Instocktrade. Samurai Executioner seems to be out of print but not TOO hard to find.

I got volume 3 and 4 from IST.
https://www.instocktrades.com/TP/Dark-Horse/SAMURAI-EXECUTIONER-OMNIBUS-TP-VOL-03-(MR)/JUL140144
https://www.instocktrades.com/TP/Dark-Horse/SAMURAI-EXECUTIONER-OMNIBUS-TP-VOL-04-(MR)/OCT140140

And 1 and 2 from TFAW.
https://www.tfaw.com/Graphic-Novels/Profile/Samurai-Executioner-Omnibus-Volume-1-TPB___444266

It seems I might have gotten their lost copy of 2, though. But they still got 1, 2 and 4.

You can easily get volume 2 from ebay right now with this being the cheapest:

Nice, I know next to nothing about them or I would pick them up before theyre gone. I might pull the trigger on those Trigun Omnis though lol.

What are those under the Blade of the Immortal omnis?

Looks like Goodnight Punpun.

My recommendation for the Koike series would be

Lone Wolf & Cub (GOAT) > Samurai Executioner > New Lone Wolf & Cub

Those are Goodnight Punpun and at the very bottom it's 20th Century Boys.

The Trigun Omnibus are pretty as shit, however, Trigun 1 and Maximum 3 are pretty pricey. The first you find it at around $50 but I don't mind too much since I still have those they released in 2003 and then there's Maximum 3 which some dofus listed it at, like, $200 so now everywhere has it for insane prices. I've seen it listed at $2000 in some places, yes, with 3 zeros. Shit's dumb.
