It's just something that happens. MS does something good for itself, Sony is painted as incompetent for a few days or weeks, and then it goes back to a complete lack of concern again, once people realised that the drama was baseless. In some cases, Sony acts and we get a better product or service for it, but when it comes to studio acquisitions the blowback in these threads is such wasted energy.
I should play The Order again...
Played it at launch and enjoyed it well enough. I hope RaD comes back to the AAA space. I can't get enough of narrative driven games.
The XO show was really boring, the studio acquisitions were the coolest announcements, I am just confused why they decided to do a big show for what could have been announced in a written report. I am very excited for the VGAs though, so pumped to see DS and maybe TLOU 2.

I can create a thread about if Sony should buy studios too tho
That's the jokeÄh you already did that....

Annnnnnnd that's why you cancel psx when you ain't got shit to show.
Dreams launch or beta date.
Tlou2 gameplay.
GoT gameplay.
DS gameplay.
Wild gameplay and some concrete infos.
Sony Manchester announcement.
Would have been a very good PSX imo.
I hope we get to play as Joel in Part II. Even if only for a short while.

Still no beta date for Dreams.
I dont think there would be enough time to have a different gamellay trailer for DS, TLOU2, and GoT. It just comes off as an illusion that the games are further along than they really are. Plus it would look like padding.
Who knows when we will see Wild again, but i agree it could be at a PSX 2018
Expecting Death Stranding at the TGA's, as usual. Dreams too considering it had a trailer last year.Dreams launch or beta date.

It's easy to imagine a PSX like the above, but the reality is all of the above are hundreds of man-hours to prepare and the reality is maybe Sony wouldn't be ready by December to have those content in a way that's new, exciting and would draw views.
Take Medievil reveal trailer from last-year for example. That trailer was clearly put together in last minute since it was discovered that trailer had non-game assets involved. If TLOU2 trailer was just "E3 trailer, but played a bit differently" that wouldn't be exciting at all.

But actual participants really liked it. Even without big announcements. It's like a fan meet-up.
I heard something about DS is already in polish phase.
And why no beta date for Dreams ?
Because we know that already before december ?
Oh ya, I definitely expect Joel to finally appear in the next trailer as well as the infected.Time for Joel to make his grand entrance. Obviously he'll be a lot more detailed, but I don't expect him to look dramatically different compared to the last time we saw him. That is unless something has happened to him in terms of being physically scarred by an attack.
I glanced at the DS thing earlier in the thread, but it's a game i could see release in 2019.
As for Dreams, they have had lots of streams this year, but no beta date. If PSX 2018 were to be, the best we could hope for would be a beta release date and launch 2019. Its just at that point where I think they showed too much Dreams, so people could be more eager for beta than another trailer.
"Dreams beta available right after the show" and everything would be fine.
They could play Pong for the rest of the show and I would still be satisfied ;)
Yeah, it was brutal. 20 minutes worth of announcements spread across two hours. Not as bad as their Gamescom show this year though.
There's more than enough third party and indie games coming to PS4 to easily fill up a 2014/15 style PSX show, Sony just doesn't seem to be interested in hosting that kind of show anymore. AAA or bust.Annnnnnnd that's why you cancel psx when you ain't got shit to show.
It's a pretty silly take anyway. InXile and Obsidian weren't bought to compete with Sony, they were bought to compete with Steam.Personally, I would ill-advise against it. It's not like anything changed from yesterday to today.
Shawn has given his comments on first-party acqusition, and it's the typical 'nothing to announce at this moment.'

An interesting point to note though: Excluding Sony's potential new San Diego studio since it hasn't been announced yet, Sony and Microsoft now both have 12 studios.
Could have still have had it to just get some of the PlayStation fans in 1 place, try new demos and meet the developers. Have a few panels too.
Probably want to save all of this for E3. This is what they've got before PS5 becomes the focus.Dreams launch or beta date.

The thing is microsoft's number is unclear to me, they count global studios publishing which is not a studio per se, also mojang which only does minecraft stuff (so far), on the other hand, playground games is effectively two teams (not just one studio) doing two different genres, located in two different places, so in the end they might have 13 or 14 studios depending on how you count some of this stuff.

If you're talking about San Mateo then I'm excluding them, XDev and MS Global Publishing because they aren't development studios, they're support/external development studios.
