Does MS think that they are going to take these crpg studios and transition them to making AAA RPGs within the next 5 years?
I mean, I'd argue that Obsidian have historically been more of a AAA RPG studio than a CRPG studio--their first ever game was KotOR II, after all. They only went back to doing throwback CRPGs 'cause all their AAA deals fell apart.

Were there any new announcements?

Honestly that was a terrible show and I'm not sure why I watched it, but I can't lie I want an Xbox One more now than ever and Microsoft's future feels really bright so, I guess it was good?

Don't overlook those sales either. 100$ off every console over holidays is very enticing.

I watched a 2 hour long advert for Game Pass for the hope of 5 seconds of a Fable 4 logo png file and I'm still disappointed.

Only caught the last 30-ish minutes, the Major Nelson ad was easily the highlight (Obsidian was pretty much already confirmed by Jason, so hard to really be surprised by that). Can't actually remember anything that was announced before that ad.

This show could've been better.

Thought it was fine. I posted several times over the last few weeks that my expectations were not high to begin with. I wanted to see the Forza 4 DLC and that looked great, wanted to Crackdown and that looked good and SoT which also was good. Everything else beyond that was gravy. The confirmation of Obsidian and in addition to the other studio was a surprise to me. So overall it was a fine and glad I did not have lofty expectations that some of you had.

The only good thing out of that show is that I guess Obsidian won't have to close down. I hope that they get to make something great and I fucking hope its not stuck on the W10 store.

Well... that was dull. You can tell they're clearly more focused on the next generation at this point. DLC/Gamepass announcements do not make for a good show.

I appreciate the effort, but this would be far better perhaps if they ran it shortly after / before the next gen Xbox is released.

Holy shit, that was horrible. I expected a Sony PGW-level show with at least one new game announcement but nope. This should have never been tied to X0.

An abysmal showing. My expectations were non-existent, but this managed to be disappointing.

It was an absolute train wreck for me.

Couldn't be terrible if it sold you on Xbox.

I have no idea what InXile means for Xbox, as I've never seen anyone hyped for any of their games. Xbox fans will now obviously hype up their studio's games - interested to see what they make going forward.

Matt Booty said that he doesn't plan to mess with their independence and is allowing them to retain their culture, so if what Chris Avellone said about the upper management of Obsidian is true then that's a "welp", but they've made some good games, so... very uncertain.

That was a pretty disappointing show. Somewhere Geoff Keighley is laughing with all his exclusives.

Not a great showing. Some nice announcements but it didn't deliver on what I was hoping for.

I was hoping for more original Xbox games being added to backwards compatibility. Some bigger name games with mouse and keyboard support - although they hit Fortnight.

I was hoping for X enhancements to Xbox One games too.

I have never ever saw something like this. Who was responsible for this schedule. I mean WTF
ANY announcement could be done per blog post or so. It's of course great for the people there to play games and so on but for us. This was so fucking shitty after E3. Jesus

My biggest dislike is that they showed too little from the smaller games, like the ID@Xbox games. Lots of talking about games in general, but not much showing them off.

Gotta give Kudos to Matt and CapCom for how they showed off DMCV. Great way of both talking about it and showing the game.

Chris Avellone kinda shat on Obsidian. Was this a good idea by MS?

This all Microsoft could get, mediocre studios on the verge of bankruptcy looking to sell fast for a buck

Well at least the developers got a secure job now and more funding so that's a good thing

Still I honestly can't see any of these studios ever producing anything big like kind of God of war or Uncharted level

Does MS think that they are going to take these crpg studios and transition them to making AAA RPGs within the next 5 years?

I think it's the opposite. They are taking two fairly established devs with dedicated fanbases and a style of development/game that has been working and adding that to their portfolio to pad out GamePass. Not everything on a sub service is going to be able to be a huge budget AAA, or a GaaS. You need that variety, not just in genres and game types but in budget and scope.
