That's bonkers.

It's probably not showing signs of slowing down either.

On mobile paid games I never seen not number 1 on Android or iOS.

The ERA realm being so good ensures I will keep on playing. Thinking about getting it on iOS so I can play on my phone in addition to my PC and tablet.

I'm sure Windows, iOS and Android make up the bulk of that but it'd be nice to see platform splits.

I would love to see a breakdown of the platforms. I'd say 60 million alone from iOS and Android.

How's the modding scene doing these days? I played back in the days of Feed the Beast, ATLauncher, Resonant Rise. Are there still quality mods out there? Would be fun to sink some time back into this with some friends.

The Harry Potter mod is legit.

So is the Jurassic World mod, the Godzilla mod, Twilight Forest, Orespawn,....

Slap on the shader mods and you got crazy awesome sandbox play.

A good game is doing good. Here's to another 10 years.

Yeah, there are some pretty good ones plus some mod packs that are awesome. Feed the Beast is now intergrated into the Twitch desktop app (Yes, that Twitch) as Minecraft Mods, and it works pretty dang well too. Super easy to search what kind of mods you want in your world, and also super easy to enable and disable the mods.

I wonder how that Minecraft Dungeons game will do. I doubt it will ever have the reach the OG Minecraft has, but it could be a big hit.

Has Microsoft not done anything to monetize the existing player base? They could be making so much money with micro transaction, some sort of premium subscription, or just release a ton of expansion like The Sims. It seems strange that Microsoft would pay so much for it, then do nothing with it other than port it to a bunch of different platforms.

They have skins, texture packs and some kind of custom maps or something. They also have realms which are private dedicated servers hosted by them.

I still feel like Minecraft shouldn't be under MS, they did not earn this beautiful thing that was created. But they've done right by it so, meh...if they are truly just trying to leverage the brand and don't care how you jump into the their gaming systems (through Xbox, PC, IOS whatever you can experience this game anywhere) then maybe they were the correct company to buy it.

If it was under Sony maybe it wouldn't be as open?? Definitely not Nintendo.

So, it shouldn't belong to MS but it's in the best hands? Thinking.gif

Cracking numbers. Looking forward to Dungeons personally!

It's scratches the Lego itch in virtual form. Don't worry yourself too much if it's not for you.

Automation is what does it for me, rather than the whole "making pretty things with blocks".
I never really cared for LEGO even when I was a child. I initially started playing Minecraft with my kids, but ended up sinking hours upon hours by myself once I discovered redstone.
Still play regularly.

Minecraft is a great IP, but it is in a strange place for Microsoft. Namely it benefits most from being spread everywhere on every possible platform, and does NOT work as an exclusive title under Xbox.
This is simply what happens with most GaaS games. That they make money by not being exclusive. So even though MS might want to leverage Minecraft to boost Xbox, they know that it would cost them too much money after already paying so much for the IP.
