Nope multiplayer only, although this always bugged me. They could have made a cut down version of the destruction for single player, to make the city feel aalittle less basic / static.

Games like Red Faction have been doing destruction for years, so it wasn't exactly impossible to include, even if it wouldn't be as advanced as multiplayer, well providing the multiplayer destruction is as impressive as they say, we shall see.
They confirmed a while back there's destruction in SP, too. Just not on the scale of the MP

It's funny cause all the way to that one E3 it got announced they did say that the campaign would release first and then multiplayer.

I wonder if the multiplayer might be an "available today as part of Game Pass" announcement at X018.

Technically it's 2 "games" made by 2+ teams. So it's highly probable they never integrated the campaign and multiplayer codebases... which is what has happened to many games before (ie pandora tomorrow)

It uses two different engines.

My initial thought is that they are splitting it up to add either the campaign or multiplayer to gamepass and upsell you the other part. But I'm happy to be wrong.

I wouldn't read into this.

EDIT: Oh, you edited the OP. Sorry, I had this open from earlier. Yeh, the mentions of 2 player co-op + wrecking zone are correct.

Shadow drop would be so good.

I just realized that a surprising shadow drop would get to me buy a game instantly, on which I normally would have no interest at all.

Just the excitement and adrenaline and the cool moment in the stream and reading the reaction to that from other people would make me do it in a heartbeat.

Something a bigger developer really should try out....

Althought not on the same level but Unravel 2 was launched during last E3.

The bigger the game, the bigger the risk with that kind of thing though. Big games with massive marketing budgets sell a huge amount of their lifetime sales at launch. They advertise the release date for months and rack up pre-orders and appeal to the masses so casual fans and mega fans alike know exactly when they can get the game. Retailers are a hugely important part of the release window too. Sega once tried to shadow drop the Saturn. It went horribly. Retailers refused to sell it as they didn't know the launch was happening. They gave preferential support and marketing space to the PlayStation instead. Nobody bought the console outside of the minority hardcore because nobody knew it was happening.

I think shadow drops can be exciting with niche products. But they're a massive risk for big products that rely on huge day one sales and pre-orders. It's a shame because it'd be a load of fun if it happened more.

Yeah. It got lost hard in all the E3 news. And the game wasnt like really special wich didnt help also.

How can you say the game wasn't that special? Also, do you have any sales numbers?`

You can't really just say it went horrible without providing sources for the statement.

Your posts reads like gut feelings until sources has been provided.

Would love to know how much money has been spent on this thus far disaster of a game. Seriously, just delay the game until it's 100% finished or just cancel the fucking thing.

Because it has a 77 metacritic. I never said it had bad sales. I just said it went horrible. It for sure didnt have the impact of what a shadow drop can have.
Hollow Knight did had that impact.

MetaCritic has very little to say how special a game is imo and also, what does special even mean in this case?

Not that much I would gather. The cloud thing was on the back burner after Xbox One launch disaster and not even a game, Crackdown was brought back from the dead and they rushed a campaign not far off from the original in design with a small team so cheap to make, sure the delay to polish and add more probably added cost but I don't think they've been making this game for 7 years with 200 + people. I still doubt the campaign was even a thing until the last few years and the cloud part tech demo probably didn't go far but they gave it another shot with a strict game mode. The development just seems on and off without a clear goal until 2-3 years ago, make classic Crackdown + quickly and have a multiplayer showcase for the cloud.

Hope it turns out well, I'm not expecting anything mind blowing but if they can echo classic Crackdown with some cherries on top, it should be quite fun.
