Found the shots at the party, I think I'd just been through the area once and forgot about it
Sierra stuff was rather easy, but some Robert related stuff is harder to pull. Can't seem to get him to go to the aquarium.

I only have one tiny complaint.

I am playing on my TV in 1080p and the writing on the interaction prompts such as "Blend in as xxx " and "Disable xxx" is tiny - if there is an option to increase this that I am just not seeing then I apologise.

Not that I've seen. It's really weird that the UX took a step backward on that when they could have just reused what they had and it would work fine.

Yeah, even after Miami, which was already huge and complex, Colombia is pretty intimidating at first.

But like you said, once you prod and poke enough there's plenty of openings which is great. Working my way through some of the opportunities at the moment which are pretty cool.

Don't think I managed to get Silent Assassin yet though, as I usually get carried away and fuck up at least a little bit, so nice job there!

Once I found the Shaman, everything fell into place; this was after a long hunt for some goddamn glue (these games really scratch that "old school adventure game" itch) which I found, but couldn't figure out how to bring the "bus" to the meet. You're led to believe Santa Fortuna is as heavily guarded as Colorado, but it really isn't, and the main town is *huge*.

I'm intrigued by the Hitman games, but they've never really clicked for me. It usually ends with me screwing up after spending 20+ minutes in a map that makes me quit. Any suggestions how I should approach it?

Menus are a nice improvement, especially the target photos.

You can manually save and reload at any time. The game also auto saves every couple of minutes. So you won't lose all your progress if you screw up.

Also follow the mission stories to learn the maps and get easy but unoptimized kills.

I had a similar issue on 8GB of RAM. Upgrading to 16GB fixed my issues.

Are auto-saves broken for anyone else on PC? The game indicates it's saving, but they don't actually seem to overwrite the existing auto-saves.

Any word on how long the game is roughly? Obvs play styles will differ but anyone finished it yet?

Casting my mind to how long I took per mission I would estimate maybe 5-6 hours for all the new missions - but that barely scratches all the opportunities & challenges for each map.

Combine this with contracts and self-imposed challenges and this is a game that could last you forever.

Even though it was a bummer when we learned that none of our progress would carry over from Season 1, it's crazy how much I'm enjoying replaying everything after spending 100's of hours on the first game. I've barely played the new content, only done Hawke's Bay so far.

What does not carry over from S1? Contracts? Escalations?

Also, what is the difference between contracts and escalations?

Escalations are missions made by IO that increasingly get harder the more you replay them. They range from level 1 to 5. Level 1 of an escalation might ask you to kill the target then level two will add a new objective - say, hacking a laptop or killing the target with a specific weapon or whatever. They're really useful in learning a map's layout.

Contracts are just user-made missions. They introduced them in Absolution and I'm glad that they're back in 2016 and 2 as some of them are really fucking fun.

I kid you not I spent 3 hours straight trying to get into the top five for this contract. It's been a while since I've played 2016 so I'm probably out of the top 10 but it's really fun playing these contracts. They give the game infinite replayability.

Here's a video that GuLe made of it. He makes it look so easy lmao.

It seems to be his panic room. I scared him with the supercharged fuel or whatever when he fixed his model car and target lockdown initiated with him running into the aquarium directly under the giant shark.

My first run through Mumbai went shockingly smoothly; I more or less stumbled into one opportunity, and I was able to take out another target fairly cleanly without relying on a story. I really like the map from just that playthrough.

Save before doing an action that could discover you?

In reality, Hitman games are games more of exploration and observation, than taking action on them. Knocking a guard and hiding his body is easy, it's more a question of where to do it, when and what. The first hour or two in a new map is me just exploring around, seeing what interesting stuff and possible approaches there are, and only after that time I 'start' trying anything.

How do I set a default gun? I don't want to switch to chrome ICA19 every time I plan a mission.

Unless I am missing something, they seemed to have moved the IAGO invitation in Paris... Anything else like this in the original maps?

Don't think of the Hitman games as stealth games. Think of them as a collection of puzzle boxes. And like with such a puzzle, you turn it around in your hands for a bit, look at it from different angles, shake it around to hear for moving parts inside, then slowly begin to push and prod at different parts to test the limits and mechanisms of the puzzle. Maybe you have to reset and try things from a different angle or in a different sequence, but each attempt is more experimentation and learning how the puzzle works until you can solve it consistently

That's a Hitman level. Explore, observe, listen, push and prod at the systems, which disguises are needed for what areas, what items and tools are available where, what can you interact with, where your targets are located, what actions do they take, who do they talk to and interact with. And then slowly begin putting plans in motion, each attempt a new lesson in how the level operates. Every player, both new and experienced Hitman fan, starts out stumbling and fumbling through a new level on the first try. Every level is a unfamiliar unpredictable puzzle box to learn anew. Only through failure and experimentation and improved repetition do you begin to master a level

Pre-loaded the game on steam and it is only 8 gigs? So if i get it right buyers of the gold version get to play the game right now, but buyers of the normal version don't even get to pre-load the full game?

You can pre-load the game 2 days before release depending on your copy. I'm playing on a friend's account who has the gold edition (thankfully) but standard edition players will have to wait until tomorrow to start pre-loading.

Screwing up is part of the fun. You have a master plan then it goes horribly wrong but you keep going. The easiest way to take out a target is to shoot them but of course there are ways that are much more fun and interesting. If you mess up, just keep playing and finish the mission. They are meant to be replayed over and over to see new things.

Do you guys think there is a good chance that progress from season 1/2 will carry over into season 3 if there is one? I hope it's not the same situation where all of your progress is lost.

There's probably a better chance of it carrying over. It just depends on why they weren't able to, or didn't want to in the first place.

If they stick with Warner Bros, I could see progress carrying over. I think losing Square was the main reason they introduced the Legacy pack and made us start over because it will carry over into H3 thanks to WB.

I hope so! I want to unlock everything for fun but the idea of losing everything again is off putting. I guess whatever happens though, I'm still having fun playing.

Spent around 2 hours in the Miami level this morning so far and hit Mastery Level 7. There's so much to do, glad I didn't spoil myself too much on preview videos.

It's really a bummer this wasn't episodical because holy shit this would go even further than Season 1 on taking advantage of it
These huge maps really should have a month or even two all to themselves, it's amazing lol

I'm with you, I loved the episodic nature of the last game, I put in easily 20+ hours on each map between releases. I'm trying to offset them dropping all of the maps on me at once by not moving to the next until I hit level 20 on the current on (or 5 in the case of the beach house level).

I feel kinda bad I'm just jumping level to level to see the campaign through but I will definitely replaying this for sure. The story missions are pretty great, really enjoyed Columbia.

I really wish I could upgrade to gold right now. Hell I would almost settle to just be able to pre load it properly instead of being stuck at 8gb.

It's so weird to want to give a corporation money and they won't let you.

I never buy digital from PSN due to shit prices in Uk but I threw my £80 gold version because they deserve the money.

The extra days nice bonus

yeah I agree, episodic was the way to go for this franchise.
now you're "done" with the game in under 10 hours, sure there are still countless things to do and I will, but I will never reach the 100+ I had with season 1.

it also bothers me more than it should that season 1 unlocks, progress and achievements are simply reset. that was a very poor decision. at this point I would have even preferred it they kept it completely separate.

Given that all the episodes downloaded individually, at least when I preloaded it, it was clearly built with it in mind. It's a shame it didn't work out for them business wise because creatively, it works really well.
