You know what? In the end all I care about is I have fun with the game. Graphics have gotten to the point that in general long as it is good enough it won't hamper my enjoyment of the game. And I'll fully admit I have a high tolerance for jank (Though I admit Bethesda games are on the limits of what I tolerate and I tolerate them because the game is fun enough to overlook it). And frames per second? I literally don't notice and I like it that way (I'm glad that I don't notice that because I'd rather focus on more important stuff).

Fallout 76 is fun for me for whatever reason. I think it's cause I love exploding and crafting and having to search for stuff to craft and survive (I love that I'm excited to find stim packs or purified water or aluminum). It just hits the right things that made survival mode fun for me in 4( and survival mode made 4 a better game for me then 3 in spite of it being a weaker rpg).

What will ruin this game for me most is if the player base ends up being a lot of griefers.

Hell, I see potential for a really fun base game used in a private server for a dedicated rp group.

So yeah, whatever.

I respect your support for the things you love, sincerely.

However, I just want them to put more resources into their games, I want their games to have better animation, better engine and most important of all, better QA. I am sure you would want that too.

My post might sound like I am attacking Bethesda, that's because I am, because I want them to do better, I want them to know that this isn't acceptable.

I don't think there are too many shades of "harsh" at our disposal as fans, in this case, it's either 0 or 1. You buy or you don't buy. Fans have been offering feedback on the official Bethesda forums, in various degrees of harshness, since forever, with very minimal results. They do read the criticism, and then only change what they think needs to be changed, otherwise Skyrim would have had spears, open cities, spellmaking and plenty other things via official patches, and the engine would be dead and buried since 2005.

Hey all.

I haven't played the beta at all and I obviously can't now. Still going to buy the game because well...it's Fallout. Trying to decide on PS4 vs PC. I've heard some mixed things with the PC version performance, but the pros are that I would be able to play with my wife (who would also buy on PC). If it's bad performance, I might just do PS4, as I have more friends there anyway.

Thoughts?

PC performance is good if you have a decent computer. Most of the complaints about the PC version are lack of options we are used to like FoV and advanced graphic options. They are on par with the console version which is the issue. Game should still perform better on PC though.

Just chiming in to say I mostly agree. Framerate and stability wise, game seems fine. It's just the lack of options that's really frustrating.

I'll also note that changing the display style (fullscreen, borderless) was really finicky and required a few restarts, but I didn't have to worry about it once I got that set in the first beta session.

The bethesda client still seems really pointless (90% of it just opens links in your browser) but the game hooks into Shadowplay just fine and I could take screens/video using that without issue.

Edit: Framerate does tank for some reason when certain UI elements show up and I'm not sure why. Like trying to load a holotape into a computer. Dunno if it does that on console versions as well.

PC version is vulnerable to cheaters. The PS4 version might be better for long term gameplay, because it's much harder to cheat.

But the PC version will have mods and modded servers and stuff.

I'm fiddling around with this right now, and one question: It probably doesnt make much sense to include perk cards like Gunsmith etc. I need for crafting in the build, right? I can just swap those in when I need them. Same thing with lockpicking and hacking.

I guess it depends on how much you value the convenience of having them on at all times or having to swap to them when you need them. Min-max = don't include them (but make sure you have enough points to slot it when you need to.) I'm lazy though so I plan on a build where I'll have gunsmith, picklock perks, and hacker perks on probably all the time.

To be honest, I might not even specialize in a weapon so I can just use whatever.

Yeah, the build I made before asking looks like this:

Fallout 76 Build with 9/9/10/5/15/5/3

Getting enough stuff to craft many different weapons I want is more important to me than being really good with that one weapon type.

So just FYI... I ordered the gamestop Xbox one X Rdr2 and fallout 76 edition and just got the keys for Fallout 76.

Two keys. Gamestop has been screwing up and the originally sent me two keys for the beta. I thought it was a screw up. Now they just sent me two keys for the full game, and they worked.

So you may see some discount keys kicking around soon. Haven't really noticed a lot of people talking about it yet because the email just came like 30 minutes ago.

Really depends what you after, i made these builds before. I'm mostly focused on being able to carry the cards I'd want to have on me *at once* at level 50. The rest is just flavor you can switch in when you need it, assuming you have enough points. Like the better crafting condition *and* the perk to craft you want for instance.

Shotgun Build
Non Automatic Pistol Build

Yeah, I went over my earlier build before and replaced everything that doesnt need to be in at all times. Looks like this now:

Between crafting ammo and how much you find I personally wouldn't opt for Scrounger. Plus it annoys me that I need to pay attention to use an extra button (and extra few seconds) when I search an ammo crate else Scrounger is just wasted.

Well, I'm gonna try it and if it's too much i can always swap it for something else like the Mysterious Stranger. Or the Tormentor card, that one could be good as I'm mainly gonna use rifles.

Started my preload on xbox. I really enjoyed the beta sessions. Both solo and with friends. Every time the warning came up that the session was ending I just wanted to keep going. Excited for the full release.

Cool, I canceled my Best Buy preorder because I wanted to get it from the Bethesda store instead for the older Fallout games and since I paid with PayPal it refunded to my PayPal account. Except now PayPal is sitting on it until the 13th. And since the Bethesda store doesn't accept PayPal the earliest the money would show up in my account would be the 14th, after the preorder has ended.

I experienced really bad stuttering on my PC while running it on a 2080ti and 8700k. Couldn't find a fix for it during beta but that doesn't mean everyone has a problem, your mileage may vary. Also I'm quite sensitive to that so some may not even notice it or it doesn't bother them as much.

Honestly, I have other things i'd rather them focus on than the performance of the game. Get better writers (or get rid of Emil honestly, seems when he's not in control they have better writing... DLCs like Far Harbor for example). Focus more on better RPG mechanics (more ways to solve quests other than killing, better dialogue options, NPCs actually responding appropriately to the dialogue you pick).

Performance of the game is the last thing that bugs me about Bethesda games honestly (I love them in spite of their flaws but I could rant about their flaws). And some things I would not trade for better perfomance. For example I know it's a small thing and this is kinda why I'm threatened by them building a new engine cause it would be an easy thing to leave out that would make it easier for better performance: I love that each object is actually an object I can pick up and place down and the game (tries to) remembers where I put it (I love finding trophies in the world and decorating my house with them and I love when you drop items they look like an item, not some representation of the "dropped items here"). I love that containers work both to put things in as well as take things out (vs. just being loot boxes like for example Witcher does). I love that each character actually has a routine and isn't just a random NPC that spawns out of nowhere (Though rockstar does a good job of still making them feel real when they do that. But for example RDR2 actually seems to have NPCs that aren't just random spawns and it's great, they do a better job that even Bethesda cause they remember what they feel about you and it isn't just an instant kill if they see you or really like you and it's not based on karma but how you treated them individually). And that when you kill htem they have on them what they were using/wearing (soimething I'm disappointed in in F76 where I"ve noticed that isn't always the case). Apparently that also makes performance take a hit doing that. It just makes the world feel more real/fleshed out. I don't care that it doesn't have big towns or lots of NPCs, I wouldn't sacrifice having each NPC be a unique NPC for that. Witcher felt so empty to me despite all the NPCs cause it was obvious most were just filler to make the world seem big.

If they have to sacrifice the above stuff to make performance better, it isn't worth it to me. Seriously. Performance is something I only want to see them improve as long as it doesn't sacrifice things I do like about their games. And I think there are things I would much rather see them improve on like story and RPG (something their engine can do fine if they'd actually focus on it).

It ran like shit for me unless I ran it on low. I figured it was my 6 year old CPU. My friends with more modern rigs said it ran pretty great for them but yeah but of a toss up.

So I have been playing the beta on PC and haven't had any problems but a friend of mine wants to play on PS4. I have a PS4 Pro and would like to know from any of you that played the beta on a PS4 Pro how it ran. Does the new VATS system use aim assist at all since it displays in real time?

Dumb question as I should've checked during the Beta, but can you have multiple characters? I'm still undecided on if I want to keep my Beta character, but would like to keep him as an alt if possible.

You can make multiple characters, just go to the main menu and choose the character option. Just don't name them the same as your other character as people have reported it has erased the original character when they did that.

I'm not even going to bother getting anywhere near the review thread, lmao. If the games gets anything above a 75, it will get shit on because it doesn't deserve it. If the game gets anything below 75, it will get shit on because it deserves it. So I guess it's all the same but with a different context.
Yup. Watching human psychology at work can be pretty revolting.

It's gonna be one for the record books that's for sure. The upside is it keeps most of the nonsense away from the OT.

I agree. And I'm in love with Bethesda RPGs. Let's not act like there aren't issues with the game.

Anywhonanny, I'm constantly thinking about this game now. I'm off this Wednesday so I will have all day to play.

Things I hope for:

1. Better performance.
2. Better loot tables.
3. Higher stash limit
4. More cards

You are high or drunk.

Now you're just being incredibly rude. I also did not experience much in the way of framerate or stability issues after playing in multiple betas long enough to hit level 17. I only encountered a couple framerate dips and one server crash, which I knew to be a server crash as it kept trying to reconnect me to that one and was failing but switching servers worked just fine.

It's a PC game, there's going to sometimes be wildly differing levels of performance for different hardware configurations, especially pre-release.

Not sure how to respond to this. I was near constantly at the framerate cap and never froze or crashed so idk what else to want there. The games buggy, but it didn't manifest for me in terms of framerate or stability. With the caveat that I added at the end.
Same. And I played on an i7 2600k at stock speeds. Ultra settings on a GTX 1070 at 1080p, mostly 60fps but built up areas caused FPS to drop a bit. The game is far from a looker though, so I can understand that some people might be disappointed that it isn't permanently locked at 60fps/1080p I guess. I also didn't play the earlier beta sessions so maybe they gave a poor first impression to people with performance?

I won't be buying the game, but performance certainly isn't the reason why. Lack of content, dated visuals, far too many bugs, and lack of private servers with full mod support, are all far bigger issues for me than the game's performance.

How can I uninstall the Fallout 76 beta? Windows control panel opens the Bethesda launcher, which then says "You don't have access to this game". (you don't say, duh) No option to uninstall it. How do I do it?
