Anecdotally, I didn't get any drifting at all last night, in the two or so hours I played, compared to the demo, in which I got a lot. There's a lot of Tetris in this Tetris game. The demo levels are the most tame or low key of the ones I've played, in terms of presentation and novelty.

no more drift? very tempted to buy now...

Love the game but man, I cannot put more than a hour into it before it completely boggles up my eyes and I start seeing double lol. The Effects, the way they work with the HDR, etc kills my eyes in a good way.

I really want to support this game but I don't have the $40 right now to spend on this since I don't have a PS4 Pro or VR, I feel like the vanilla experience will be a little worse.

Picked it up last night and stayed up an extra hour to get some play time in. I'm 100% convinced now the types of experiences Miz is making are really best and fully realized in VR. Got maybe halfway through the journey and loved every level so far. Almost fell asleep in the headset in the menus, easily the longest single session VR I've ever played between PSVR and Occulus.

The first time I got a trophy in VR really freaked me out. Not a big thing, but a 2D trophy icon sort of appears between you and the game board, felt like it was invading my space haha.

Funny how I always envisioned the crazy realistic VR games as being the ideal experience, when in actuality games like this, Polybius, Thumper, Beat Saber etc really bring out the best in the medium.

Little bummed I can't pick this up until December, but I am really excited. The demo really exceeded my expectations.

i found the option to set the camera permanently zoomed in but the setting doesn´t do anything when retrying a stage, it still starts zoomed out...

does anyone know why this is a thing? is the "zoomed in" setting only for VR mode or is it a bug? setting does absolutely nothing for me, when i retry a stage i still have to zoom in with the analog stick..

User impressions got me hyped for Tetris lol. Looking forward to that audio-visual fest the most tbh.

this game is quite the trippy experience-with headphones you get quickly "in the zone" and the stages are mindblowing

Played through around half the campaign and tried a variety of modes. This game is amazing, it nails that Lumines feel of being "one" with the music while at the same time being a traditional Tetris game through and through.

Definitely going to land somewhere on my GotY top 10, which I did not expect at all. Phenomenal achievement by the Miz.

Alright so there were mixed impressions in the demo thread of the VR.

So what's the verdict from those of you whom have spent some time playing with a headset?

Wonder if I should go back and play on Casual. I'll try beating Journey at Normal and then do causal to see if that's more my style for this.

So two questions:
- how do you claim the avatars you earned from the event in the demo, or was that only for the demo?
- is anyone else having an issue where the headphone audio drops out for a few seconds randomly? This happened during the demo, too. Super annoying

While I certainly enjoyed Lumines I am not the biggest fan of music/puzzle games.

But this. This shit is something else.

I can't quite put it into words, but the experience is fantastic. It is brilliant. I don't have the words to describe the emotions I felt.

The sound effects, music and the visuals come together in a perfect way. i think the Mizuguchi treatment elevates Tetris to a higher level.
this game is art and a sublime experience, i am replaying stages on Journey mode again and again because they really nailed it, it all comes together beautifully.

have you tested other games with your headphones or tested the game with another controller? some controller have transmission issues which cuts out the audio.

i have no problems with audio cutouts but i had those with other games with my old controller, it has mostly something to do with transmission issues.

My bad, should have mentioned this is in psvr mode, so the headphones are connected through there. I have one other set of headphones that I tried that it also had issues with

There are two settings - Not zoomed at all and Zoomed slightly in. If you want it zoomed tighter, you'll always have to manually do it regardless of the setting you chose. You're saying it reverts back to not zoomed at all, but mine doesn't do that. Next time you try it, see if you can zoom out further. If you can, it's working properly. If you can't, it isn't.

Avatars dont carry over. Headphone dropouts are fairly common on PS4 when using headphones directly connected to VR or the controller unfortunately. Been that way all generation. I now only use the controller for audio when I need to use a mic.

T-spins are worth twice as much as Tetrises.

Lines cleared while in Zone don't actually add to the line counter, so they're essentially "bonus" lines. Capitalize on this and never sit on a full Zone meter.

The most efficient use of Zone is to fill up most of the stack beforehand while keeping a 2-wide well open, then pop Zone with either 25% or 50% meter. If you're particularly skilled at stacking, you can use this setup to obtain an 18 to 20-line Zone clear.

That Dolphin level was wild. I was like "FUCK YOU, DOLPHINS!" when I beat it. This game is special.

Why is there no restart option? I always hate when games do that, one little mistake and you have to forcefully have to fuck up to game over your game or quit all the to the level select and try again. I'm stuggling with the Pharaoh level and that level isn't fun at all to get do over every time, especially because that song kinda sucks.

I'm on a slim ps4 with a 1080p tv here, I really do feel like i'm missing out on a better experience, is playing it in PSVR that much of a better experience? I'm thinking about picking up one of those black friday bundles

Absolutley fantastic Game!
I feel like it´s slightly easier in VR, couldn´t beat the last Journey level on normal in 2D but beat it on the first try in VR.
Anybody feel the same?

Also the Launch Trailer is extremly good, love the editing!

Man, watching some gameplay footage, it's like Tetris, Lumines, and Rez all made a beautiful baby together.

I gotta pick this up!

Also of note, 1.04 update (746MB) will download when you first insert the disc.

Me couple of days ago:

After couple of hours I decided not to buy it now - the game feels and plays great, beaten all stages and marathon on expert, will try to beat mystery mode today - my main problem, at higher speeds I'm fully concentrated on playing area, and have no time to look around - and what happens around is the best in this game.. and I'm just missing it all the time. Unlike in Lumines, I can't see the whole picture, in both senses. I feel like to make Tetris was some kind of life goal for Mizuguchi, though, and I'm glad he did it.

BLAH BLAH BLAH bought it today, can't see whole picture my ass, who was I lying to.

Oh man, managed to clear 16 lines during Zone only to remember you have to do a whopping 18.

Managed an A on both Beginner & Normal on the first area in Journey. I heard that the Fever Mode or whatever from Puyo Puyo Tetris is back, that was rather fun, should give that a try.

Good news - there's two ranks above A and the max number of lines is 20 in Zone for an Ultimatris.

Not in my opinion. The headset is too grainy...makes you miss a lot more detail, even on 1080p tv

Yeah, saw the trophy list & you basically gotta SS rank EVERYTHING.

Even on Normal, things are starting to pick up in difficulty after the 2nd area, or I just really screwed myself & made it more difficult. I need to remember to actually use the Zone mechanic more often.

It's also key to remember that the Zone bar doesn't have to be full in order to use it. Also if the graphical effects on the blocks is throwing you off, you can go into options and turn on classic blocks.

Is Zone completely exclusive to the Journey mode? Would love to have it as a feature on some of the effect modes but I didn't see it anywhere in there.
