It's not a bad question honestly. A Venom movie without Spider-Man still sounds dumb. I don't think anyone can deny that it's a surprise it's performing so well.
I mean, a solo Venom movie is outperforming the Justice League. There are no rules anymore.
Nah always knew it would do well if the movie had good word of mouth. It was always obvious that people liked venom with or without Spiderman some people just refused to believe this.
I just hope People that watched Venom also go to watch Spiderverse, considering the post credits.

I'm still shocked the movie is doing so well considering how mediocre it is. It felt like The Dark Tower. A short, bland, unambitious, limp attempt at starting a franchise, and it ended up making true blockbuster money. Probably one of the biggest box office surprises I can think of.
What's interesting about this to me, is that I assume that Venom is a mostly new character to Chinese audiences, since Spider-Man 3 happened before the Chinese box-office explosion. (I might be completely wrong on that, please feel free to correct me.) So the idea of a Kraven or Morbius movie might not be that ridiculous, and the fact that they don't really have the pre-established fanbase that Venom has may not matter at all in the end.

Star Wars doesn't have the built int nostalgia for older generations and their kids didn't grow up on it like the Western world.
Loved the movie so I'm happy to hear it's doing well. Didn't expect that I'd like Venom without Spider-Man but now I just want him to keep having solo movies
Such a garbage ass hanger on character. Ah, well at least he stays away from the Spider-man film franchise for least one more movie.
People thought the movie would be trash, which it is. Nobody said it wouldn't make a bajillion dollars.
Oh I can believe it (I've read Venom comics that don't feature Spidey), but still, not to this extent.
If you had told me two years ago that movies about the Justice League and Star Wars spin offs would bomb, but Venom would make bank, I would have been quite perplexed. I still am, haha
Sony sure is making the most of it. I'd be down for Miles and Spider-Gwen movies.
Now that was a bad movie that I didn't enjoy past the first act, Venom at least was enjoyable throughout and I didn't feel like it wasted my time.
I gotta admit I didn't expect Venom to draw huge numbers, Sony must be happy.
