They keep saying "and so much more"

Why do I feel like this just means like 3 other things.
That's fine, as long as they are three things of consequence. We could have predicted everything we've seen so far, but it's the stuff that we can't predict that is going to make or break the show. If the three things are Ninja Theory is there with a new game and we get two new studios, we're going to be pretty happy tomorrow after the show. If the three things are a DMC 5 Xbox One bundle, early access to Fallout 76 DLC, and exclusive cosmetics for Anthem, people will be upset and rightfully so.

I am starting to think otherwise my friend. Lets be real, MS is notorious for doing things backwards. We can all talk about it tomorrow after XO

If they didn't have something to announce, they would have done just another Inside Xbox episode and they wouldn't be flying a bunch of management to Mexico City for this event.

Upset? Why? Why would people feel so entitled to big news that they'd rightfully be upset? It's not like they've said "Take the day off work. We promise you, it'll be worth it! We're bringing the megatons! ".

It probably won't have announcements of multiple, previously unknown 1st party games...and that's fine.

Hopefully they say they're discontinuing efforts into the s*** game and make something decent

That is a garbage comment. The game world is really cool even though it hasn't been for me yet too much, but I for one am interested to see where they are taking things since they said a rather significant new thing was coming to the game.

There are plenty enough who love the game and keep playing it and it fits into their Gamepass model perfectly. So I doubt it. Even if they weren't hitting their metrics, they'd probably want to support it for at least another year or two, before scaling it down to merely providing support. Only then would the team be able to move on to something else.

I refuse to believe there won't be at least on huge surprise and/or some unannounced reveals.

Straight up. I don't think that's what you bring back X0 for.

Otherwise they could have just called a FanFest or Inside Xbox: Mexico.

I am starting to think otherwise my friend. Lets be real, MS is notorious for doing things backwards. We can all talk about it tomorrow after XO

I mean, it's Phil Spencer's word on the line considering he specifically said they wouldn't bring X0 back without a good reason. Now, as to whether you'll enjoy it is an entirely different story, but I at least expect a caliber of announcements that would be worth the X0 name since that's what we've been told.

It'll be interesting to see what the show format looks like though.

Man I feel like that was already announced

Haha that's the power of marketing deals at work I guess. Metro: 2033 was announced for Game Pass only a short while ago. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I keep thinking that. I also think why would someone here (i think it was a mod) said that Xbox fans will be happy next month (Nov)

None of it makes sense.

However, I still have a feeling XO was going to be bigger when it was announced and maybe somethings fell through.

It's not an entitled to expect a company to deliver on what they promised. Phil Spencer said they wouldn't bring back XO for nothing and if it's just a longer Inside Xbox, that's a failure to deliver on that promise.

Is all about perspective.

Some people here already think XO is awesome based on the confirmations so far. Others are excited to go and play the latest games this weekend.

That alone can equate success for Spencer
For me.. thats.a big MEH.

But will see.

It should release on Christmas Day next month. Because it's the exact game I'd love to be playing over the Christmas break. And I can't wait much longer, I'm getting really impatient for more Ori.

Now THAT would be one big surprise. Just imagine that.

Yeah I agree man, that game is a day one buy. After the greatness that was the first one I don't doubt this developer.

I feel like people had high expectations with the thought of "Microsoft is gonna buy R* and Insomniac " where they should've been thinking like "Microsoft is buying Armature and heart full of games ( indie to AA studios )

I think that's the biggest point. We just need to wait and see. People can either sharpen their pitch forks or send love letters to Phil AFTER THE SHOW TOMORROW. Until then, all we can really do is speculate. Honestly, one or two major announcements are going to be the difference between the pitch forks and the love letters. I personally think Microsoft will have one or two really cool things and most people here will be satisfied, but who knows?

IF that is true, who ever handles PR and those Twitter tweets leading up to XO is doing a horrendous job.

Nothing confirmed has got me excited for the show. (Except CD3)
Everything else seems copy and paste format from previous Insider shows.

Maybe it is not like that... but they sure don't do a great job hyping people online.

Showing like 20 different games (including first looks), 13 or more Game Pass titles, showcasing keyboard + mouse, bringing some stuff to PC, possibly announcing new studios and games, all this at an event where players can actually play a lot of unreleased games and participate in all kinds of cool Xbox-themed events, tournaments and such?

I mean, we've seen much worse stuff at E3 by big publishers tbh.

Almost all those games we all know about. I don't need to see more Metro gameplay. I don't need more State of Decay gameplay. Crackdown 3 is the only one I feel like would have relevance because it's gone through so many iterations, but I still feel like I've seen it before. These are all known quantities.

The DLCs will be interesting. Forza Horizon has never had a bad DLC and they've all been wildly different from the base game so that will definitely be worth seeing. Sea of Thieves will be interesting to those people I guess. I still don't get why this needs an event though. None of these things got events before that I know of.

The game pass titles will be games we already know about. Why adding them to game pass warrents an event announcement I don't know. Netflix doesn't use new movies and shows as a bullet point for an event.

Mouse and keyboard is mouse and keyboard. How is that hype? Good news for sure. But what exactly does that need stage presence for? Razor's gear...I guess. How is that hype though... This is a known quantity. I don't need to catch someone using M/KB on stage for the first time. Especially since...it's not even the first time.. Xbox already supports M/KB on several games.

Like. These are Twitter announcements and YouTube videos. How does any of this deserve a stage? Stages are for reveals and big announcements. Netflix getting new movies is not a stage announcement.

New BC games isn't really either. Maybe a supporting announcement if there's a lot of significant ones. A stage worthy announcement would be that a 360 emulator is going to PC. Or Xbox One S is getting 1080p BC games. Or that 360 games will support M/KB. OG Xbox games are getting achievements. Idk how feasible these are but these would be new features. These would get me excited. A few new announcements, while pleasant, is literally a Twitter post.

We will probably get one game announcement. One new thing.

This is a feast of horr d'oeuvres. An event of side announcements that literally have always been Twitter posts or filler announcements for other events. How am I supposed to get hype about this?

I know it's not always but that phrase is so often PR for "we only have like one legitimately good thing left."

I don't see it as a bad event, but to each their own. Not every time they go on a stage they have to reveal 5 new studios, 20 new games, a new console and so on. Sometimes they can just gather gamers from a country and celebrate gaming, by showcasing what's coming on the console in the next 6-8 months. And as we know, Microsoft currently doesn't have any insane megaton (probably) coming anytime soon, the biggest stuff we know or speculate about (a new Ninja Theory game, Halo, Fable, possibly Perfect Dark, etc.) are quite far away, likely next-gen, or end of next year earliest (like Gears). I'd love if they announced some megatons, but it seems unrealistic as of now. It's an event for people who are already into Xbox, and in fact it will talk about future support for already released games, or upcoming games we've already seen before but that are releasing soon. We'll see Crackdown 3, too, a game we haven't had a proper look at for too long now. We could get a couple new games, we'll get 13 or more Game Pass announcements, possibly a new studio or two... it's not a Sony E3 2015 sort of crazy announcements combo, but Microsoft knows better than anyone at this point how showcasing titles and CGI trailers for shit that may or may not release in the next 5 years is not necessarily a good idea (look at the early Xbox One conferences and see how many of those games died since).

Not pointing any fingers but...

Maybe if some of you were actually so concerned about surprises and reveals, you would have learned that following a thread dedicated to uncovering whatever plans MS has been working on before they can might not be the best idea.

It always gets me when E3 comes by and we have a bunch of people go "but where are the surprises?" or "this conference sucked, we knew everything already" even though they have had their eyes glued to a thread that partly exists to try and spoil said surprises everyday leading up to said conference.

Truth right here. The reason we know about some of the things they'll show is because we discussed to hell and back every tweet, every retweet, every teaser, people have been checking board ratings, achievement lists, acquisition papers, job listings, APIs, etc.. In this day and age it's so damn difficult to work on a game for years without as much a hint going out between ex-devs, APIs, job listings, external companies accidentally leaking something, a voice actor not knowing when it's time to shut up, etc. etc.. One can avoid all this by... ignoring speculation and rumor threads :P

It's kinda like sneaking in to a movie shoot, getting a sneak peek at the final scene, then complaining you already knew how the movie ends. I mean, you literally went there to know about it, so...

This + actually waiting until after the conference happens to have an opinion about the quality of the conference.

This makes no sense. I always follow the news and loved MS's conference this year, even though the only "real" surprise were the studios acquisitions and battletoads. It's good to know what to expect.

How am I supposed to get hype about this?

I mean, just don't?

I'm going in knowing what to expect. You should do the same.

I feel that it's still not very hype worthy except for SSOD so far. SSOD can't excite me any more obviously since that was spoiled. That's fine. I'm not knocking the show for that. If like idk MCC for PC leaked for the show (unfortunately it did the opposite) I would say that's a big announcement that a ton of people are waiting for. That's exciting.

I am personally interested in SSOD since I haven't played it. But I fear many won't because it's an "old game."

I'm not judging this based on whether it will excite me with surprises. I'm saying I don't feel hopeful the surprises will be great because the surprises that have leaked don't indicate a big hype worthy event to me.

I will be the first in here to say I thought it was a good show if that turns out to be the case. But I've been burned before by shows Microsoft sure seemed to think would be amazing including E3s.

Truth right here. There's 2 things I want to know about Xbox:

  • Whats coming to Game Pass?
  • When will I be able to competently stream anywhere?
3rd party games day 1 to Game Pass are equivalent to 1st party games to me. Equals the same thing. They'll be games I'll be playing without additional purchase.

I want to know when I'll be able to stream my games to my laptop. How well will it work? How much more will it cost me?

These shows people get caught up in list wars...and then 90-95% of the people tuning into 1st party list wars don't buy any of those games. Game Pass solves that value problem. Crackdown is more interesting at this show because I know I'll be playing it day 1. Don't have to count my pennies and decide if it's worth the gamble to purchase.

I forgot that I passively mentioned X018 being on at 4 tomorrow to my wife. I was starting to lean away from wanting to watch it live, but now she's made plans around it so I guess I might as well! Punch me one ticket for the hype train!
