It may be important now but in the long term, they're going to need a steady flow of first party games.

That's why Netflix has massive increased spending on their own content each year.

Granted, games are different. I think Microsoft will continue to rely on getting indie games on the service and deals with other publishers like Bethesda, THQ, etc.

Correct. Just like Netflix relied on WB, Paramount, Fox, etc in the beginning, MS needs 3rd party support for the time being.

Once MS is firing with amazing first party in a few years, 3rd party will slow down just like Netflix did with their own content.

Thats the biggest clue.

Maybe this XO is about showcasing Gamepass. Which is why the GP twitter is loading something towards XO.

I always said it, MS has to make some deals like Netflix did with other studios to enrich Gamepass.
That's probably more important than acquisitions IMO.
Yeah, the show will revolve around Game Pass. Likely partnerships and acquisitions.

Anyway back to the that cryptic tease. Blue Manchu?? Zhuge playing with our feelings man (and probably enjoying it!).

Bro you just come off as negative with the way you're say shit

I'm only allowed to be positive?

I'm talking the way I am because, as an Xbox fan, I was lead to believe one way, but now as info comes out I really disagree with the hype.

If you cannot handle someone not liking something because you just want to see unrelenting positivity around it, you are straight up a fan boy. I figured we were better than that.

I'm not complaining to complain. I'm trying to help expectations be more realistic. If everyone is still excited, great. More power to em. But I'm a fan of Xbox and I don't feel like the kinds of things I care about matter in this instance. Being a fan of Xbox doesn't mean I have to like everything they do. Why would I care that Sunset Overdrive isn't play anywhere if I wasn't a fan of Xbox first part games generally? I wouldn't, and i wouldn't bother posting. But I an invested because Microsoft has brought me some of my favorite game experiences ever.

Then why would I post in this thread for the last two pages?

I wouldn't know. My scepticism is rooted in the assumption Microsoft would keep a tight lid on this so not even well connected insiders like yourself would know all the details.

But if you got it like that

giphy.gif

then I've underestimated you.

If the show does go to plan as you know it, please do let us know after it goes down Saturday.

Maybe Zhuge is hinting that Card Game is going to be coming to Xbox Game Pass as part of Mouse and Keyboard support, not that Blue Manchu is going to be acquired.

I'm just glad my hype level is just as low as it can be. With some of the recent comments it really doesn't sound all that great. After certain tweets a few weeks ago it seemed hype worthy but now I don't know.

I just hope Obsidian is confirmed, so that we can finally shit up about that, lol.

Also, wtf is Blue Manchu?

This topic is on steroids.

Just two days guys. Just two days till we know...
….if the Obsidian deal is finalized
… if Playful will indeed work on a Microsoft IP
… if Age of Empires and Rise of Nations will be Xbox games
… if Crackdown 3 is going to be game to look forward too
… if Hellblade, Cuphead, We Happy Few, Forza Motorsport 7, etc. are coming to GamePass
… if Project xCloud will be available for testing starting next year
… if Microsoft has bought any more studios
… if Ninja Theory is indeed showing off a game
… if Matt Booty wil indeed bring that booty.

I think MS likes the bigger stage

(Who doesn't)

Thinking about XO, I think it makes more sense to announce further acquisitions at E32019.

No it sounds like you hyped yourself up to XO being the best thing to happen this yr and when it seemed like stuff YOU wanted werent going to be announced, you bringing the energy down on something that supposed to be a positive event for all Xbox players by bringing in negative energy because of you'reyour disappointment

I don't believe that anyone in this thread knows the full XO18 plans, as nobody knew the full E3 show either. Just because someone has heard some info does not equal complete show, hence the big surprises thing noted by Xbox.

No that is not what happened. I was hoping for some interesting things. Significant surprises. New things. Yes I have things I care about, but anything that would make it event worthy I could understand.

But this literally sounds like a longer Inside Xbox. I don't understand how that's hype. Even Crackdown 3, which I am excited for, it's hard to get excited for some gameplay that looks better. Like interested? Of course. Excited? I mean...sort of. Since we've already seen a lot of crackdown 3 for like years now, I don't understand getting hype over yet more footage.

Hype for me comes with high anticipation when I don't know what to expect. I know what to expect from Crackdown. Seeing a better version of it is...nice. But why does that need an on stage event? A trailer would serve the same purpose. That's my point.

All of these announcements, to me, seem like they would be just as well as one off tweets or YouTube trailers. You delay and hype something when its big. I do not see what is fundamentally big about any of this.

I've seen a few times, specially lately, people doubting about what people verafied, mods... know, and made me wonder what would be the point of that system if we doubt of their knowledge when they state something (unless they state is just for laughs or an opinion).

The game pass guy is watching us

Game Pass sees everything...
Let's see who can come up with the best studio speculation

Can you simply define in a scale from 1 to 10 what hype or enthusiasm level should we have?

It's pretty simple.

Do you like Xbox?
Do you like MS's currently released first party games?
Do you like MS's upcoming titles?
Do you like third party games currently affiliated with Xbox?
Do you like Xbox Game Pass and Xbox BC?
Do you like ID@Xbox games?

If you answer yes then there will be plenty of stuff here for you.

Judging from the leaked pictures of the set, it seems very similar to Gamescom 2018. Just Inside Xbox SuperSize.

Hmmm I see.

When XO18 was announced for a while I thought this was going to be something like PSX where there's several first party announcements, new IP etc but it seems doubtful it can really be called something like PSX. It's too early for that too. These new studios are just starting at MS.

All this game pass stuff honestly doesn't do that much for me but that's because I don't really have game pass. Of course it's possible that some games I missed out on will be on it but a brand new game will excite me more to be honest.

Ah well, unless I heard it wrong during Inside Xbox where XO18 was announced, Phil did say there would be first party announcements and specifically mentioned Fable too as in how that first got announced during XO years ago. There's definitely gonna be a surprise or two.

I could use news about a new studio there too. And I'm definitely looking forward to their upcoming games that we know about. But does this include upcoming games we haven't heard about yet? Like Ninja Theory's game? Ah well, we'll find out soon enough.

Why do you people keep asking this?

It has an achievement list for Windows 10, separate from the Xbox version. We know this because those sites (like True achievements) pull directly from Microsoft API or whatever it is. This is why we so often have trophy and achievement lists before those lists are announced, and sometimes before the games themselves are announced (like with Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon iirc).

This means

pretty conclusively

one last time

1. It is coming to windows 10, whether it comes to steam or not

2. It is not Play Anywhere. This means achievements/crossbuy/cross progression.

3. It probably won't have cross progression with Xbox out side of Play Anywhere. It could but I feel it's reasonable to doubt.

4. We don't know if it will be crossplay. I'm worried it won't, but we won't know till Saturday at the earliest. If it is, we don't know if it's Xbox/w10 or w10/steam or a combo or what.

This is disappointing to me, in addition because it would indicate Halo: The Masterchief Collection, will probably not be Play Anywhere either, which is something I really really would like to happen.

Is that clear enough for everyone? Or will I have to repeat myself 10 more times? I'm pretty exasperated.

And I could be wrong. I would love to be. But right now, based on how we know these things work, this is how things will probably play out.

Totally agree.
But when they say something they supposedly know what they talk about because they can prove having access to relevant information.(Again, not if they make clear they are joking or it's a guess/opinion)
There's also telling what they omit telling.
Either because they know and not say for a varieaty of reasons or don't know/are not sure about

I think the key to this entire event is changing the publics view on Crackdown 3. The redemption story of this games possible turnaround would set the tone for the future of Xbox. No iam not saying this game has to be amazing or Xbox is dead or that they havent already made a huge turnaround because they have. I just think this is a big opportunity to get the public perception of Xbox back on track and if they can do that everything else they talk about would just be bonus for me.

Well, hopefully it comes out in a way that you like in some way hahah
For me I'd be glad just owning it on PC.
I ended the campaign and all missions and DLC and I'm not really a completionist so I just pick things I see when doing random stuff so I'd probably just start a new character

I mean, it's not on par with the old shows. It's that simple, really.

ZHuge has just now basically said what it will be. What he said is not on the level of previous X0s from what I can tell.

This is a longer Inside Xbox. That's it. I don't understand why that's hype.

ZhugeEX said the exact opposite. This was his response to someone linking previous X0's to set expectations.

Pretty much. Don't go into this thinking it's E3.

There is some cool stuff. But most of it is updates and new stuff for already existing software/services.

He said previous X0s are a good reference point. Also, regarding the responses to your post Chettlar, I don't think you deserved the typetof response you received. I'd also say some people are frustrated by the roller coaster that is this thread and people misinterpreting other posts.

Could be a new package including the DLC that's Play Anywhere and X Enhanced, similar to the Zoo Tycoon re-release edition they did.

Looking at that image on the TA listing it seemed Overcharge was quite prominent in the logo, so maybe an edition called Sunset Overdrive: Overcharged?

OR it could be as you say and just a stand alone PC edition XD. My money is on that.

Doesn't he just mean a Shadow of the Tomb Raider kinda game? A game where MS has/had a deal for/with the publisher?

Doubt microsoft will do another RoTR deal. It didnt pay off for anyone involved

Also when i think "third party associated with microsoft" Dead Rising comes to mind way, way before than tomb raider

It just feels like he's saying two different things then. Because what he's saying doesn't feel comparable to an X0 to me. Oh well.
