I dont know the story here, but in my 14 years of Steam I have not once been kicked from a game due to Steam being down, or rather ever been kicked from a game for any reason associated with Steam.
So uhm... If everything is going smoothly, I guess I'll become a dad next year.

Performance is one big issue but it's also filled with tons of serious gameplay and technical bugs, that game clearly needs a couple of patches asap, right now I'm too afraid of breaking something to continue. See ya in a few weeks or months or on PC.

At the old place we had multiplayer EU4 sessions, which were a lot of fun.

here's it, i think this "just don't buy this videogame" thing is essentially slacktivist feel-good bullshit, specially the kind you're suggesting, the individual anonymous boycott, which is gonna achieve nothing but merely stroking your own conscience. i can sympathize with that because i didn't buy life is strange before the storm (which is a much easier game for me to give up, since life is strange occupies a tiny space in my life compared to league) and felt quite proud about it, but i've yet to see anything good come off it. i don't think square enix even made a remark about the shit they did
you calling me a defeatist which is very weird to me considering i've participated in protests and demonstrations since i was 14 and i've faced tear gas, batons, riot trucks and live rounds from the police on more than one occasion, so i've definitely have a history of fighting back, i just disagree with your methods. the only way shit gets done in the real world is through ORGANIZED, massive protest, and deleting gog from your computer is none of those. if i was aware of an organized movement (note: i didn't say boycott) with organized action, real demands and a unified voice to tell rito to fix their shit i would very much like to see how i can be a part of that, but i think you're misguided if you think me not playing the game will have any effect on anything
for example, i very much disagree with the idea that my not eating meat has meaningful repercussions for the treatment of animals because the fact that i can now go to a hipster food place and get an eggplant sandwich is no indication that animals are being less subjected to horrible living conditions and torture. if anything suggesting that my dumb "i just don't eat meat because it's gross" has any impact on the real world feels kind of a disservice to the people that have been actually actively fighting for animal rights for decades
hell even the rockstar employees asked people not to boycott the game so you don't even know if you're not actually hurting the same people you're trying to help by boycotting the damn game...
i'll admit that demonstrations themselves also have a very small success rate (tho this is hard to measure) but at least i got my butt off my chair and i've seen enough success cases to believe they're at least worth trying. where i come from, we've toppled governments with active demonstrations (and sadly shed too much of our own blood in the process), so i know when things i do matter, and i know it takes a real effort and sacrifice to make changes in the world
obviously on a personal level i really like league, since it's pretty much the only game i play, so giving it up would be a very distressing thing for me to do, and ok, who ever said morality is painless, but again, i find individual, anonymous boycotting both hypocritical because it's selective and ineffective. i just won't eat meat but i'm ok with wearing these cool threads that were the product of child labor! and clothing is a necessity but idk my cousin makes her own clothes so i guess if we really cared about children we'd all just make our own clothes right? this is the problem with consumer morality, you end up being a hypocrite no matter what you do, you can always say you could just "give it up" but i think it's not hard to see how incompatible that is with not being a fucking hermit
furthermore on this morality stuff, if you ask me, a (not the, a) real reason things don't change is because people think liking an amnesty international tweet or donating $4.20 to charity on a giantbomb livestream counts as doing their part. or not buying the witcher 3. it doesn't.
but no one has the moral authority to ask these things of anyone. i think it's easy to understand not everyone is willing to be the one that punches the nazis in the face, even if that's the 100% right thing to do, but we don't think everyone that doesn't punch a nazi is actually endorsing nazis, do we?
let's pls realize we all choose our battles, and while yours and mine may differ, i'm not any less disturbed and horrified by the shit that's happening at rito. if anything i'm probably more since it's likely i'm the only one that's actually personally invested in the game and the company that makes it (you know, besides all the doto haterz)

Will there seriously not be any pre-load for Hitman 2 for early access tommorrow? Even Ubisoft gave a pre-load for early access for Odyssey.

Yeah, it's definitely the game's server fault. Some weird check-in with steam server API I bet. It kicks everyone from the game with "error #### code: lone wolf" or similar to that anyways. When we got it twice we both get kicked at the same time to the title screen and alt-tabbing reveals we both have "no connection" on our steam, which Google also confirms is down. It's annoying for sure, and the worst part of the game so far. I'm having fun though but neither of us paid full price tbf. $60 would be steep but it does get meatier than the beta.

I never really played Kingpin beyond its demo, and the starting area is harsh. I love going back to these quirkier shooters prior to the Half-Life mold dictating what most shooters should be like. Exploration, objectives, backtracking, weapon mods, a character sheet. Kingpin's a weird game, and the enemies have eagle vision. Sneaking in the vents and overseeing a poker table of bad guys? They all see you through the vent slits and start shooting. It's the kind of game that doesn't let you have full health very often, and I'm playing on medium difficulty.

Get the battery, come back to the bike, cutscene where I drive off with said bike. Next area begins and I'm inside a sewer (???) with the bike gone (?????)

Yeah. Pre-load data is saved as DepotID_depotcache_ChunkNumber.csd in SteamApps\depotcache, and you can view depot info by typing app_info_print AppID in the console.

Once you get the shotgun, things go a little more smoothly. I did find the transition from Poisonville to the sewers to quite odd myself, but I'm enjoying going back to it again after so many years. Didn't realize Xatrix/Grey Matter was merged into Treyarch. Maan, if only the CoD games were like this.
HITMAN 2 Base Content is 13GB, so definitely just that.
