It feels so weird seeing this thread not gaining any traction.
Maybe most people are distracted by the Acosta news or experiencing a post-midterm lethargy, but I hope you get enough people out there to protest this mess.
I wish you all the best!

3100 people attending the protest in Salt Lake City so far tonight. That's a good sign to me.

The president has asserted that he is above the rule of law, and we have people discouraging others from pursuing the one nonviolent response left to them. Actively depressing the turnout to this event is tantamount to collaboration in the ascendancy of fascism, full stop.

If you ever sat there in history class wondering how good people could have stood idly by as the Nazis took power and rolled across Europe, this is your moment. Will the students of Biodome #7241 read about you a hundred years from now and wonder how American bystanders could have been so weak and complacent? Or will you enter the history books as someone who refused to yield? I know which one I'm going to be.

Get your asses out there.

And wanting people silenced for not agreeing with you is totally not fascism. Gotcha.

The events all being at 5 PM local time probably does not help. I would guess a good portion of posters on here work M/F 8-5/9-6.

I hate Trump as much as the next person, but is this really gonna do anything?
Show solidarity with people that we won't let it go unnoticed. Idk makes me feel much better than just having a few complaints on a message board and then moving on.

There's a looooot of gop congressmen who held onto their seats by the skin of their teeth, letting up on the gas makes them feel safe, if they feel vulnerable they're less likely to follow this idiot blindly.

I mean if a poster's contributions to discussion around this event are well in line with what an alt right sock puppet would say, they should shut the hell up or be shut up, yes. The endless false equivalence between fighting fascism and actual fascism is exhausting.

Shit like:
MoveOn is a shadow of what they were previously. I think these protests are going to be widely ignored.

is ignorantly counterproductive at best.

It's put up or shut up time.

If you value democracy, you have to go to one of these. No excuses.

Way to blow your load early. JFC. The whole point is to make one huge demonstration the moment Mueller gets fired or otherwise becomes incapable of finishing his investigation. That hasn't happened yet, AFAIK

You are looking for a big spark and telling people to watch and wait for a particular thing. Trump and co understand that people are watching for that, and are trying to slip around it. Your statement is proof that their strategy may work.

Regrettably most people here think complaining online and going out to vote every other year is all they can possibly do.
Did you see the volunteer thread?

Coordinating this on a dime after mid terms is surely a difficult task for the organisers.
Hopefully the demonstrations are strong and have good attendance numbers.

And having some one in control that can pretty much starve the investigation isn't that? You realize they can obstruct it this way without having to go to those lengths that are mode obvious and avoid the big protests. Which if they are smart they will do that. Besides, it's a bit too late once they get to firing him.

But guys, maybe we should wait until Trump declares himself King before we protest. Don't want to be too premature.

Actually thinking about it. Maybe we should wait until Baron is declared ruler before we protest.

Also there is a light breeze out today. Maybe we should wait until the weather is better. That way turnout is higher.

What is involved in hosting or coordinating one of these protests? I naively think that the work was already done by having the rapid-response website and specific triggers set up a long time ago.

Go to the website and see if there is an event close by, if not you will have the option to host one. Basically just saying where.
I don't get off until 4:30pm at the earliest. Not sure if I'll be able to make it.
If it happens it will be longer then 5 minutes, and you can come late. :)

Most people would rather post Mueller memes than actually do something.

This is why it really bothers me when people on here say that Avenatti fights the wrong way. Here's your opportunity to fight the "right way" and most would choose apathy.

We deserve Trumpland.

Five pages, I hope the protests itself aren't this devoid and anemic. Rise up people!

The projected turnout in Cleveland is supposed to be ~1500, but who knows how many there'll actually be. I'm hoping for the best!
