I hate Trump as much as the next person, but is this really gonna do anything?
The president has asserted that he is above the rule of law, and we have people discouraging others from pursuing the one nonviolent response left to them. Actively depressing the turnout to this event is tantamount to collaboration in the ascendancy of fascism, full stop.
If you ever sat there in history class wondering how good people could have stood idly by as the Nazis took power and rolled across Europe, this is your moment. Will the students of Biodome #7241 read about you a hundred years from now and wonder how American bystanders could have been so weak and complacent? Or will you enter the history books as someone who refused to yield? I know which one I'm going to be.
Get your asses out there.

The events all being at 5 PM local time probably does not help. I would guess a good portion of posters on here work M/F 8-5/9-6.It feels so weird seeing this thread not gaining any traction.
Maybe most people are distracted by the Acosta news or experiencing a post-midterm lethargy, but I hope you get enough people out there to protest this mess.
I wish you all the best!
MoveOn is a shadow of what they were previously. I think these protests are going to be widely ignored.
Show solidarity with people that we won't let it go unnoticed. Idk makes me feel much better than just having a few complaints on a message board and then moving on.I hate Trump as much as the next person, but is this really gonna do anything?
I'll protest for you. Take care of your son :)I would be there if I didn't need to be with my son in the hospital.
Please go protest for me Austin.
And wanting people silenced for not agreeing with you is totally not fascism. Gotcha.

Most daily protests have been largely ignored, but they've been happening so frequently, and at very local levels in both Democratic and Republican majority areas. They have been effective.MoveOn is a shadow of what they were previously. I think these protests are going to be widely ignored.
Way to blow your load early. JFC. The whole point is to make one huge demonstration the moment Mueller gets fired or otherwise becomes incapable of finishing his investigation. That hasn't happened yet, AFAIK
Regrettably most people here think complaining online and going out to vote every other year is all they can possibly do.It feels so weird seeing this thread not gaining any traction.

over 1300 signed up in Long Beach so far. I'm cautiously optimistic.3100 people attending the protest in Salt Lake City so far tonight. That's a good sign to me.

Go to the website and see if there is an event close by, if not you will have the option to host one. Basically just saying where. What is involved in hosting or coordinating one of these protests? I naively think that the work was already done by having the rapid-response website and specific triggers set up a long time ago.
If it happens it will be longer then 5 minutes, and you can come late. :)I don't get off until 4:30pm at the earliest. Not sure if I'll be able to make it.
I didn't know if the last minute nature of it or the shooting in CA would make the organizers postpone the protests.
Man, if we had to postpone something every time a mass shooting happened in this country nothing would get done. It's sad.I didn't know if the last minute nature of it or the shooting in CA would make the organizers postpone the protests.
