Back in August, Falcom president and CEO Toshihiro Kondo said the next Ys game "will not be a remake, but a brand new title. It will be about Adol and it will be set right after the events of Ys VIII."

Also by September 2019, the company plans to continue proactively promoting multiplatform development using its licensed content worldwide, further strengthen digital sales and downloadable content, and deploy smartphone titles such as Hoshi no Kiseki and Ys Altago in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao.

Thanks, Gematsu.

Their financials can be found in a link in the article. Them "promoting multiplatform development" sounds pretty big.

In that sense, yeah, you're right. I completely misread that.

Devil Halton's Trap
Romn game here we coooooooooooooome (and probably the next Tokyo Xanadu).

please bring the other ys games to switch too
That's on Western localizers. Falcom's not planning to do any more ports of their own in the foreseeable future, mainly because they're working at full capacity on their new games. Still, I doubt that XSEED, NISA, DotEmu, and the rest will pass on Switch ports in this market.

Ys V remake time surely?

Nope. This interview was from a recent Dengeki PS volume, hinting their future pipeline. ( I translated it )

I still haven't played 8 since NISA bungled it so bad, and the PC port still sounds rough so I'm not picking it up until it's cheap. I'd like to think 9 will turn out better but my expectations are pretty low.

Since Falcom is presumably closer to NISA than they were with XSEED I wonder if they might license it faster and have a quicker turnaround for the English release. Especially if they are going to deliver a Switch port for Falcom.

If you have a PS4 just play that version. Runs great, and the translation is passable now with patches.

Had no idea who Falcom was before playing Ys VIII on Switch this year, and now I want to try out all their other games!
