8bitdo-10.jpg

http://www.8bitdo.com/gbros/

- The GBros. wireless adapter includes the home and screenshot buttons which are missing on the Gamecube controller.

- It has three ports: the two proprietary Nintendo ports on the sides (one for Gamecube, the other for Wii/Classic Edition controllers), and a micro USB 2.0 on the front.

- It works on Android, Windows and Mac OS also.

8BitDo confirmed to Ars that only one controller works with this adapter at a time. Meaning, you cannot connect both a classic GC controller and a Wii-connector controller and expect both to work on your Switch at the same time.

I was hoping that'd be a secret double-controller perk, but alas. Still a slick-looking and reasonably priced gizmo; what is lag like for other 8BitDo Switch adapters? I imagine that'd inform what to expect from this one.

If it works without too much input lag, it could be a good way to use your Gamecube/Wii/SNES/NES controller in handheld mode.

You can pre-order the GBros. on Amazon (it will be released on December 7, 2018)

Pretty cool that this allows us to use the NES/SNES Classic controllers on Switch...

Though, "old wired controllers" means Gamecube and Wii controllers.

It has one Gamecube port and one Wii port.

Pretty neat anyway, might grab one to use the SNES Classics.

NES and SNES classic support sounds great.

A bit worried about it being future proof with N64 classic. I'd love for essentially every Nintendo controller to work on switch

Wish they (anybody really) would just say fuck it and make some replacement joycons with proper controls in the right places.

The adapters are neat, but for me just dancing around the issue.

If they make a wireless 4-port Gamecube adapter that converts all four controllers to native Switch controllers it will sell gangbusters.

Sounds VERY interesting! This would also let me use my Tatsucap stick on Switch too!

Plus I'd be able to use my NES controllers on ANY game, making it instantly much more useful than the Switch version of the NES controller!

They show it being used with NSO NES games, but neither this adapter or the SNES and NES Classic controllers have ZL and ZR, and you can't use those buttons on controller 2 to access the settings either, so that's kind of false advertising. If your controller doesn't have ZL and ZR, you can't do everything you need to do in NSO NES.

Does it not work in docked mode?

Playing in front of the Switch like that doesn't look comfortable at all, not to mention you'll be drowning in controller wire.

That's really cool. They've been doing really well with supporting a wide range of controller options on different devices and this definitely fills a niche. Good shit.

You're right.
They should add a shortcut for ZL+ZR on the adapter itself or something.

Was looking at this morning when Wario posted it. It's damn sexy but stupid conversion+shipping+import fees makes it like roughly 32.5 CAD per 1. I don't know if I wanna shell that much on it since it would only be for one extra controller. It would be clutch in the sense that I would have access to an extra controller while on the move without lugging a dock with me. As it stands I'll just have a pro and my joycons on the move which is at least good enough for two player.

Assuming the input lag isn't bad, I'll absolutely want one to play Smash with a GameCube controller. Unfortunately, my room setup means that the wired adapter doesn't work for me.

That's kinda cool but I can't help but think the GC controller port replicator is a better use of one's $$$ especially since it's got 4 ports. I like the idea, but not enough to really consider buying one. I do like the classic controller d-pad, but the SN30 Pro is more my tastes and not that much more if you don't already have a compatible controller.

It's a cool thing, but I don't need one. I don't play NES games on my Switch and I already have my WaveBird out and ready. There is also the current unknown about input lag.

I'm considering not only getting out a wired controller for Smash 5 but also my old plasma TV.

Probably gonna go with this instead of the PowerA wireless gamecube controller. I'd just love to be able to use a GCN controller in Smash's tabletop mode, and this seems like a great solution if it works well.

Oh shit.
The Wii Classic Controller (the regular one, not the pro) was my go to Smash controller. I might need this for ultimate.

8Bitdo just keep delivering.

iOS support? This can't work without a jail broken device, surely? If this had MFi support, that would be a game changer.

I bought the DIY kits for the NES and SNES classic controllers, but if this works well, I may just revert them back to wired and use this (especially if the rumored N64 classic uses the Wii plugs)

I might as well cop. I got a couple Wii (including a cheap Hori stick), SNES Classic, and Gamecube controllers around and the Switch could use all the controller help it can get.

The Powera gamecube controller look like a 1:1 match for the original GC pads minus the improved dpad. But they all lack rumble, a major oversight imo. Absolutely must have vibration support for me to even consider these. This adapter look like the ticket to me :)

Hey, I think I'll want one of those! I've got gamecube and classic controllers that could do with more usecases.

Sucks that there's only one port each, but this is still really cool. Now I can use (S)NES controllers on the Switch without buying overpriced wireless versions.

Already doing all of this with the Magic NS adapter (and more). If this had a ZL+ZR button I would maybe consider buying it.

Edit:
I also have the mayflash gamecube to wii mote adapter.
