Really good episode. Doom Patrol has good chemistry.

Hopefully this main plot can move along now.

So far it's basically been Rachel getting passed from one member of the team to the next.

Agreed, I hope we get more consistency from this point on with the plot and not just "oh no, Raven is gone again cause *old person* left her with *new person* and we need to get her again before she goes wild again

Matt Bomer is Negative Man.
Brendan Fraser is Robotman.
Timothy Dalton is Chief.

So overall its an upgrade as far as talent goes its just odd to do a backdoor pilot for a show and recast 90% of the people. But I guess everyone besides Chief had their face covered so it won't be so jarring.

Edit: Lol. Disregard everything I said. Didn't recognize Bomer's or Fraser's voices at all in this episode.
that was matt bomer and brendan fraser on episode 4?
damn those are some pretty big names
not familiar with this doom patrol group, but together with timothy dalton i'll definitely check it out next year

I really really liked this ep a lot... my fave so far

The Doom Patrol added GREAT chemistry and lightness/team dynamic the show has been missing so far, which is a bunch of people getting lost and separated all the time

Not sure what is up with that CHIEF character

I am almost afraid that I may like Doom Patrol more than the core cast of Titans so far

I enjoyed the chemistry of Doom Patrol, and Niles is appropriately sketchy as fuck, but man, Cliff's head looks like it was welded on by a greasy drunk. They really need to up the quality there. It's 1960's Doctor Who bad. Presumably the girl they saved was Celsius from the run just before Morrison's.

RobotMan is my fave character so far of the Doom Patrol

Raven was in the middle opening a portal to Trigon's realm or what

I think there was a throwaway line mentioned by the Chief, how when he met each member... nobody wanted to be around them or save them from their condition that was killing them... he brought them back to life... they were "doomed" as people.

I am not familiar with their comic book origins sorry to say.

Loved the DP and am especially happy they kept the wrinkle to Rita from Giffen's run(being blob-like). Definitely helps her to feel more at home on the team.

Also I love the idea that the DP is old, an unnecessary detail I suppose, but it gives them a lot of character. Particularly Rita. Seriously, I can't applaud them enough for putting some thought into her. For those who don't know, the original Rita Farr was very bland and her powers(size changing) were never a problem that really ruined her life so she never really fit in with Larry and Cliff.

So, is Rita going to also be Madame Rouge? That thought immediately went through my when Raven touched her. Would be an interesting twist on this classic bit:

Hold up I was reading episode summaries and they did the motherfucking Nuclear Family?

If they do the Force of July this might be my favorite DC show ever

They are coming up in next week's ep, as what seems like a proper confrontation with the newly assembled Titans team.

Best episode of the season, by far.

Hyped as hell for Doom Patrol.

Made sense that it was Geoff Johns who wrote this episode too.

Glad they recast the Chief... he gives off creepy vibes... James Bond will even things out

Is Rita's actress also recast as well?

I can't believe they pretty much nailed the Doom Patrol.

I loathe the CW DC shows, most of Marvel Netflix puts me to sleep but I'm really, really enjoying Titans. And now I cannot wait for the DP series. Bring it!

What future Titans stories do you think we'll see or would you be into seeing? I NEED Deathstroke/ Terra/ Judas Contract.

If the CW DC shows were reimagined for Netflix without their network restrictions... one can only wonder their fullest potentials... even though they are doing well as is... the crossovers are insane

They've been teasing Deathstroke and Jericho, so I think there's a decent shot that we'll get them in Season 2.

Live action Judas contract would be awesome, as long as Terra is over 18.

It's weird to think that I am more convinced of Doom Patrol as a functioning team with history, than this new team for the Titans after multiple eps... feels like they are running away from each other and not connecting well... hopefully next ep fixes that once and for all cuz we are already at the half way point for the season next

to be fair haven't actually functioned as a team yet.
Like you said, the end of the episode is the first time they all share the screen together.
Though you can already see different dynamics forming.
We do need a Gar/Kory centric episode though.

Geoff's been wanting to do his own version of the Doom Patrol for ages now. We got a glimpse of them back during...I want to say his Teen Titans, interestingly enough...but there's never been a focus on it. Still, this is a really strong version of them. It's interesting how free this show is to incorporate characters every episode--Hawk and Dove two weeks ago, now Doom Patrol. I like DP better--Hawk and Dove felt like the corniest pair ever tbh, while Doom Patrol really gets the vibe of a creepy family across well.

In three weeks we'll get Jason Todd, and the last episode I believe has Donna Troy. The guests go a long way towards making it feel like a DC Universe rather than a CW-verse, and the lack of CW's brand of romance is useful.

But yeah I'm all in on this Doom Patrol. Robotman and Negative Man are charming, Elasti-Girl has a lot of pathos I hope she can overcome, and Niles is a real fucking creep.

Speaking of creeps, Dick Grayson is all kinds of fucked up. My man beat the brakes off some jerk hunter in front of his kid. Dude needs help lol

I'm liking this a lot more than I thought I would. They're taking their time building the team, and I like how they're staying true to DC comics. It's a big nostalgia rush for comic fans seeing how they're handling the different characters.

This Titans show is a lot more violent and edgy than the "teen" Titans I'm familiar with, but I'm OK with that. This show looks like a keeper.

We probably won't know how big this show gets till it shows on Netflix cuz I think a lot of people aren't going to sub to DC Universe for a show that looked very dubious in trailers and buzz beforehand
