There's a little bit of new footage and more interestingly some details on the plot from Rowling.

They've also released two tracks from James Newton Howard's soundtrack.

I ll go see it but likewise I'd rather not see too much.

It seems promising.

Saw the original airing on AMC, and it helped make more sense in why Newt was chosen to be involved to oppose Grindelwald. Previous trailers made it seem more of a direct conflict/subterfuge, when in reality it's just the direct continuation of the conflict over Credence in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Do we have an idea of why Credence means so much outside of being an Obscura? Dumbledore hints at there being more to him, but I can't recall if anything more was revealed along those lines in the first film.

Well at least they have an actual reason for sending newt against grindewald now rather than Dumbledore being " lol I don't wanna."

The trailer shows some writings in the sewers suggesting that
Credence is a Lestrange and may be related to Leta

Wow, that choir part that starts at 1:38 on "Salamander Eyes" is really nice. Looking forward to hearing the rest of Newton Howard's score.

This. This sounds really good so far. Also I agree it's time for a blackout. We're hitting that point where they're going to go to far and show more then they should.

I was really underwhelmed by the soundtrack of the first at first viewing, especially considering it came from such a pedigree as Newton Howard; but after a while it became just as wonderful as the John Williams scores for the first three Harry Potter movies. Can't wait to see what he does next with this one.

Is Grindelwald expected to live through this film and continue to be the villain for all films going forward?

I think I can do one movie with Johnny Depp but if it's 4 more movies then I don't know.

Grindelwald is alive in the Harry Potter films, so yes. He's not captured until the end of this film series.

I can't wait for this. Seriously every trailer/preview makes it look better and better. I wonder why Credence is more of a focus aside from him being a...

Can't wait. Going on the second weekend and not opening weekend. A pint glass from Mondo could've changed my mind to go opening weekend but I guess Alamo isn't doing one. :/

I'm so tired of this everything gets darker shit. When the project got announced I hoped for something whimsical with Fantastic Beasts and not Depp with funny hair.

Credence is somehow gonna end up becoming young Voldemort, I'm calling it now. I'm guessing this form of Credence will die at the end of this or the next movie and his soul will end up in the kid that will eventually become Voldemort.

Seems like the most recent thread on the movie

I got to check it out last night, and it's an ok movie. I don't know the plan for the series (3 movies, 5 movies, 7 movies, whatever) but this was totally a set-up for the future movie. Kind of feels like the end of Matrix Reloaded. A bit more complete than that

IIRC the plan is 5 movies.

I think it'll still have its fair share of humour. The first film was dark at times, but it also had giggle water and Newt performing a mating dance.

Tone was the first films biggest issue, one scene you have Newt doing a mating dance followed with a chase through New York Central Park, shortly after we have Newt and Tina sentenced to death and about to be executed by a creepy black tar pool that they only barely escape from. Tone is all over the place, and I'm concerned it might continue here.

I mean, Harry Potter is kinda like that on the books. Fun times with Ron and Hermione doing stupid classes and then Harry's introspection of why everyone he loves dies and pain and suffering caused by Voldy/Snape.

I'm still a little bummed they didn't get Jared Harris to play Dumbledore. That would have been the coolest fucking nod ever and he can play a guy that's both charming and menacing at the same time.

Oh well. I'm still going to watch it of course. I just hope there's a battle in it as epic as the one between Dumbledore and Voldermort in the Ministry of Magic. Oh and they'd better go in hard on the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. You cannot say the reason Dumbledore let him get away with so much is because he loved him and not show that.

I think there's a brief shot of Dumbledore looking into the Mirror of Erised and seeing Grindelwald? They really need to play off that more otherwise it'll feel like Rowling only made Dumbledore gay for brownie points.

I really enjoyed the first one but I feel like this one is going to be significantly better. I'm predicting 86% RT.

I can say that there's a bit more overt, but never outright stated in the movie.

There's also a legit reason why can't move against him
