I get that people want easy to replace RAM, but you have to cut Apple some slack here, they're fitting an entire laptop sized computer into a case the size of a cookie tin, of course it's gonna be stacked top to bottom with tech and it's not going to be easy to get into and it's not going to be like a laptop where everything is nicely spaced out and you can just put a connector on the side with a removable panel.
The T2 chip is also being used to lock down so other OS cannot be installed. There is a Windows 10 exemption with Bootcamp, but apparently the user cannot turn this off.
- Picked up my iPad Pro and Pencil2 this morning (Asia, so it's already near end of business day here). It's really phenomenal how light and thin the 12.9" model is compared to the OG Pro. (And maybe some of that is just not yet having the OG in one hand and this one in the other, but the size difference is unquestionable) Silver is not as nice looking as on the website, but honestly, it's fine either way. I think Gold would have sold the most if it was available...
- Apple Store hack worked yet again. Just wait until launch day, order for ISPU, go pick up later in the day to dodge the line. If you don't preorder in the initial launch window, it's a great way to avoid a 12-14 day wait on shipping. (Pencil for whatever reason took a couple of days to become preorderable in Asia) Maybe in the US you could do ISPU on preorder but here that seems to be an iPhone only thing?
That's fine. They could have been more clear with their communication. As-is, they can expect a ton of returns.

This is apparently not true, and I haven't seen any reports off apple geniusses turning away people because of user replacable ram (unless that was the cause of the failure, which is possible).
In fact, secure boot should work with windows, but not with other OS's. Seems like a game of telephone kind of mistake to me.
This is where I read the Linux bit: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/06/apple_mac_linux_woes/
I hope that it is not true, but it isn't something I pulled out of my hind quarters.
The RAM reports appeared on Macrumors forum.
Do you have to wait until the store opens? I want to do ISPU for a Pro but the store isn't open yet and the option does not exist.
iPad Pro was available online this morning, so not midnight sharp but somewhere between 1 and 6 am. The Store app asked me to update and once I did I could order. The Store App shows a preview of your delivery options once you pick the options down to WiFi, and it was either
Delivery: 19-21st
Store Pickup: Today
The only people making mistakes was the inexplicable lineup outside of people wanting to just buy an iPad straight up. They had a separate lineup inside that was for ISPU...
Hmm thanks for the tip but my Apple Store App still says Store Pickup unavailable.
From my experience in the past, they usually put it up just a few hours before opening.Hmm thanks for the tip but my Apple Store App still says Store Pickup unavailable.

Yeah I'm going to keep checking every 30 minutes or so, but I guess worse case it'll come up at 10am.
Got my brand new iPad Pro 12.9", Pencil and Keyboard Folio over lunch time with UKMail and DPD. Loving it so far.
I also upgraded to an iPhone XS this year and it took me a day or two to get used to not having a home button anymore. I think at first it feels strange because you're so used to certain things with the button but after a few days it becomes clear that swiping is actually faster and more convenient when different swipes allow you to unlock, see apps and switch apps. I'm not sure I'll ever use any of the physical buttons on this iPad as I've turned it on and turned the volume all the way up. I can do everything else I want now from within the OS including changing volume, brightness and the space bar on the keyboard will be my way to 'wake' the iPad to start using it.

Your civil war background is nice as fuck.
Yeah, the Bootcamp Assistant enables the boot loader to trust OSes signed by a particular MS certificate, but not a different MS cert that some Linux distros apparently use.

Not something I am concerned about personally, and definitely worth it for 32GB. Not sure I want to mess with it for the 16GB savings.
Well f*ck.. Recieved my first iPad Pro (12.9, 256) yesterday with all the accessories (pencil/smart keyboard). Installed a few apps (good notes, spotify ect) and turned it off with 45 % left. Used it for 30 min this morning, folded the cover so it was put to sleep. Two hours later when I open it, nothing happens. Try to turn it on again. Nothing happens. Connect it to the power cable. Nothing happens... So yay? Been talking to the support for two hours and first they told me that they were gonna use one of my two uses of apple care + and I was like hell no?! Why?! This is a hardware fault so after many turns and people they connected me to some person who made a recall-errand. Gonna send it back next week but have two wait 2-3 for a new.. Sigh.. Just my luck! Hope yours lives longer!
2-3 weeks? What?
Either take it to an Apple Store and get it replaced then and there immediately, or send it in tomorrow when the box arrives and get the new one two (working)days after that.
Any word on the base processor for the Mac Mini? I run Lightroom and GarageBand for recording and that's about it in terms of heavy processing. Think it should be sufficient? Will probably throw 16GB of RAM in there to be safe.
Got it, thanks! Think I'll just go with that then.It should be fine. Unless you're doing huge amount of track effects and the like I haven't run into significant slowdowns in Garageband since literally the G5 era. Not too familiar with Lightroom's optimizations, but I don't think it's heavily processor-bound and some of its video-accelerated stuff doesn't work in mac anyhow.
Yeah, you should be fine with that setup. Adding an SSD to my 2014 Mini made the biggest difference with GarageBand/Logic. Now they don't crap out at all.Got it, thanks! Think I'll just go with that then.
Pumped to finally be able to drive a 4k60 display and it have to pay out the ass for useless laptop features/Touch Bar, etc. glad the Mini is back.
Just to note, these things are likely so new that even Apple Stores don't have replacement stock just yet.
Zanosuke, where did you buy it?

A quick update!! So I had prepared it for a return when I read my forumpost on macrumors about my experience and one of the users responed to my post regarding which reboot-code the customer service had given me: "short press Volume down, then up and then hold Power" and he was like: "If it's like the iPhone X, it is volume up, then down, and hold the power button.". Unpacked my iPad, tried it and voila, it booted!! Battery was almost drained (which was strange since it had been a brick) but seems to work! Charging now..
