Dems winning the House is pretty consequential all things considered. That's one less firewall surrounding Trump; there will be real investigations launched into his wrongdoings and conflicts of interest now. I didn't get everything I wanted tonight, but I take solace in knowing the orange turd is going to be that much more miserable for the next two years.
Yeah, at least I can take solace in that as bummed as I am.

Michigan here looking very blue, legalizing marijuana, laws against gerrymandering and new voting laws give me reasons for hope.

LeftERA.

You were looking for your candidate to rally behind, right?

And there's the House! Florida scared the shit out of me to start the night (doesn't it always?) but happy to see everything else straighten out.

Now let's get Pelosi out and find an exciting candidate for 2020.

Let's turn this ship around.

Even though Dems won the House, its hard to me to give a damn given how much my local life is going to suck in Florida with DeSantis and Scott.

So Beto lost! Fuck! I mean I lowered my expectations for the Senate race at this point, but having Cruz lose would have been fantastic.

You fought the good fight Beto. Would be happy if he ran for 2020.

Best hope is the House now.

We got the house, with a whole lot left.

Blue wave is real, at least for everything not the Senate. Bodes well for 2020, where the senate map is better for Democrats.

Congrats to those who showed up to vote. Imagine what would have happened if you didn't.

For New Mexico:
Torres Small is now behind Harrell with 31% in. Disappointing, but the rest of the races (including Governor!) are looking good.
Torres Small was a long shot anyhow.
We're also looking likely to create an independent ethics commission, which is real good news! Hopefully will crack on some of the corruption experienced here.

So I guess reinstating those 1.4 million voters in Florida should go a long way to helping in 2020. Too bad about the Senate loses.. but the House win is big if Mueller has some juicy tidbits for them now.

If 40%(!!!) of the felons in Florida are black men, as reported up thread, then it will make a very big difference. I think people sometimes neglect just how racist our criminal justice system is.

Chicago
Florida is stressing me
60k needed for Nelson
2 Repbulican counties still to come in (Collier at 95% and Volusia at 99%) but 8 Democrat counties still to come in, with 4 of the biggest at 97/98
Is 60k something that can be recovered?

It's possible, but odds are lower than low.

Gillum got destroyed in the racist/rural parts of the state, like straight landslides in DeSantis' favor.

Yet in Dade, Gillum isn't winning by how much he should be winning by. I feel like too many young people sat out once again.

Shit is fucking depressing. Gillum isn't that far behind.

By the way, can we finally stop acting like polls are meaningless? They were pretty spot-on, on the whole.

I do not understand white people in the States. How can they lean so heavily towards voting for the disgusting thing the Republicans have become?

My biggest hope is that Canada's multiculturalism keeps us from suffering the same fate as the U.S. is suffering through.

I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to see Ted Cruz's hideous mug again, really disappointed that Beto couldn't pull it off :(

Damn! I really thought Beto could pull it off, man he was so fucking close! He's definitely going to be a name we'll be hearing again, no question about that.

I really want to see Cruz get fucked. Holding out hope something happens in the final count. Or maybe he'll just be embarrassed for the next two years.

I view Beto's loss almost positively. We would not have won the Senate even with it, and I don't think there's anyone even close to as good a candidate as he for the 2020 run. I think he could really win it.

(Just so we're clear, "almost". It's still bad. Fuck Ted Cruz.)
