Let's be honest here. The only reason to not call this a "Blue Wave" so far is freaking Florida.

It's not even close to a wave, it's a tiny blue ripple. Far smaller than the red wave midterm for Obama. It's pathetic and sad, but it's what I expected. The current democratic party is toothless, and so are too many of it's voters.

So what does it mean that the Dems have won the House, but Reps still hold the Senate?

I don't understand how I came in expecting to take the house and lose the senate, most likely getting that, and yet am still disgusted at these results.

Well Florida and Texas failed us, but it looks like the mid west is pulling through. GOP got wiped out in New England.

Sad about Beto. He should run in the future.

However, Dems taking the House is still a decent win. I'll take it.

This thread is very confusing to a non-America so I'll ask a simple question. Have you guys unfucked yourself or are you still fucked?

Dems controlling the house hamstrings Trump passing any legislation whatsoever.

But they have have gained seats in the Senate, which sucks cause our Collins/Murkowski wall against really terrible shit is meaningless now.

It's over +8%. The fact the Senate is weighted towards rural areas is not the fault of the voters but the way our government is set up.

A view from my bar tonight

Lots of booing and lots of cheering. Hard to keep a handle on what's going on while working.
Where's this at?

Well, whatever they try to do has to go through the Senate, which Republicans have actually gained seats for tonight. The nominated speaker is gonna have to convince Republican senators to vote on shit.

None of that matters. Trump is now, officially speaking, a lame duck president. The only things that will get through are routine bills like the budget and his administration will be investigated out the ass.

Bigger picture.

A Dem nearly wrestled the senate seat in Texas.
An openly gay woman was elected.
Kansas turned blue.
Illinois turned blue.
A lot of races that Trump won in double digits either lost, or won by a smaller percentage.

The Dems just landed a gut punch to Trump by winning the house. Investigations are going to flood this Presidency.

It's been a good night.

Didn't Trump insult Ted's wife and hes still on stage with him acting all buddy like? How are woman okay with that?

"I heard that he said something about groping women, and I'm thinking, Okay, No. 1, I think that'd be great. I like getting groped! I'm heterosexual. I'm a woman, and when a guy gropes me, I get groping on them! I grope them back. Groping is a healthy thing to do. When you're heterosexual, you grope, okay? It's a good thing. Try it. I wonder if Nixon groped Pat."

Dems winning the House is pretty consequential all things considered. That's one less firewall surrounding Trump; there will be real investigations launched into his wrongdoings and conflicts of interest now. I didn't get everything I wanted tonight, but I take solace in knowing the orange turd is going to be that much more miserable for the next two years.

... yeah? Your initial response to me seemed to be you disagreeing with me calling the Blue Wave bs. And it was. Everyone that said the Dems were gonna kick ass and take names like the GOP in 2010 was delusional. All I'm saying. Agree with your above post.
Ok. We agree to agree then, lol. Maybe I read something wrong the first time, I can't remember. I'm tired :-P

Yeah, Trump's legislative agenda is fucking dead, and that's fantastic.

Beto should get cracking on that 2020 campaign immediately. Nothing energizes a Democratic base like young and handsome.

There really isn't anything stopping republicans from railroading a bunch of legislation through before January. I'm expecting health care to be repealed before January and whole bunch other stuff to go through before they lose the house.
