Hell yeah, it's the best. The music, the food, the family, the snow, the feeling you get after shoveling your driveway and entering your heated home. It's awesome. Give it to me pls.

Nah, I wish. I increasingly find the holiday season more and more depressing. It's probably due to an aging and shrinking family coupled with the fact that I'm almost always struggle to keep my head above water financially this time of year. I've found that having money problems
and working on holidays really sucks the joy from the season.

Ugh, no. Same shit every year. At least with Easter they move the dates around lol. Boring as fuck now. Vapid consumerism, everyone buying presents, spending tons of money for no reason really. Cold and dark too. Roll on January.

Yeah, work and money are the killers of holiday joy. When I was working overtime on Christmas eve and in early the day after Christmas struggling to handle a small dept by myself, I raged hard at the next Christmas song I heard. When things are going well, I'll opt in but the non optional nature of Christmas combined with the relentless bullshit turns me off.

I still enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas since I get to see family and give/receive gifts. I love the atmosphere of Christmas as well and always have since I was a kid; trees, lights, music, snow, etc. I will say that Christmas has lost some of its "magic" as I've gotten older due to changes within my family. One Christmas was spent in the hospital with my father when he had cancer, and over the years since his passing, my family has become distant.

As for other holidays, 4th of July is nice since my older brother usually invites family and has a big cookout, and Halloween I haven't enjoyed in years since my hometown didn't really participate due to all the children (my age) growing up and moving out, and the last two places I've lived weren't in active neighborhoods (and having to come home from work exhausted).

The only one I love is the chrismas period, it makes the long dark swedish winter easier. Loads of focus on family, food etc. We havent done the whole chrismas present thingy in several years now exept the lottery (secret santa?) and it made it even better and not going crazy overall on the whole consumerism feels great. I just try to dont go all in on the music to avoid fatigue.

Nah. We're atheists, aren't having kids and don't like buying each other presents (try to limit consumerism) so Christmas has no appeal to us. We don't visit out of town family all that often either. I do often get some alone time which is nice as my wife often takes a trip with her brother sometime between/around Xmas/New Years.

Thanksgiving isn't a huge deal either. My wife goes to her families, I'm going this year and excited about it. Normally I pass as we have our field's big conference the week before and we hate boarding the dog two weeks in a row. The conference is in our city this year so that's not an issue.

That said, I'm a professor so I do like that period as I'm "off" the week of thanksgiving and 4 weeks or so in December/early January. I still work a lot, sometimes more, but on research, writing and things I want to do instead of being bogged down with teaching and admin work.

Halloween is really the only holiday I get excited for anymore. As I got older I kind of started to hate Christmas. I like putting up the tree and that's about it. The fact that Christmas shit starts going up in early November doesn't help.

The childlike glee of waking up on Christmas morning to open presents is long gone, but I still like the vibes, colors, music, movies... and until they had to fuck it up this year we were getting a new Star Wars every December, and that felt super appropriate given the season and enhanced the childlike vibes for sure.

Only two reasons:

PSN sales and other online deals
Girlfriend really loves Xmas and family time

More or less.

Depends on which holidays now.

Christmas is still fun because I get to watch my niece and nephews light up as they open up their presents.

I like it a lot more now that I:

1. Don't work in retail
2. Have my son to share it with
3. Bought a house
4. Don't have to travel between 4-5 homes constantly throughout the season

I don't get hyped or excited over holidays anymore but I do look forward to getting together with family and spending a day together eating and drinking.

I take 2 weeks holiday, sip Bailey's on the couch watching xmas movies in the evening and play with my kid during the day. I still love the holidays.

I still love Christmas, yes. Halloween is more my style though. Oh, and I love Thanksgiving because my wife is the most amazing cook in the world. She asked me the other day if I wanted her to make the same stuff she always does for Thanksgiving or mix things up this year. I'm like, honey you have 364 days to make anything else in the world. Please make the same stuff you always make. Everyone in the entire extended family talks about your legendary Thanksgiving feasts for a reason.

For the actual days, no, because I have to work them to make ends meet. I appreciate the time of year though, and I'm glad to see my family be happy.

I like seeing family and enjoy the time off but generally hate the gift giving part. The part of me that felt excitement for presents is long dead and having to buy gifts for people is always so burdensome. Also, I'm not Christian so the holiday itself means absolutely nothing to me.

I much prefer Thanksgiving if only because it's secular, has a positive and meaningful message when we ignore its problematic inception, and I'm not buying a bunch of crap for people. All I'm worried about is enjoying everyone's company and how much I'm going to eat. It's like Christmas without all the consumerism and religious crap I hate.

Little to none for me personally. I like the food and weather, that's about it. But at the same time, I'm glad such a universal break exists for most here, to spend time with friends & family.

Time off is always appreciated, especially since this will be my first holiday off as a full time employee (so I will be getting paid).

I'm a "Halloween" guy. I keep decorations up all year long. I've got a Friday the 13th themed living room and all. That said, I'm just as big a sucker for Christmas. My kids love 'em both, too.

This week I've been finding myself listening to a lot of old Laser Time Podcast Christmas episodes, and the occasional Christmas song. Was watching an AVGN Christmas episode playlist before work yesterday.

Money's a little tighter this year than usual due to my girlfriend just getting sorted in her new job after finishing school, so I've been having to help her out. I've had to tell the kids to keep their expectations in check. Usually I get pretty dumb with buying them stuff. They're pretty cool about it.

Christmas has always been a nice, mellow season to me. I enjoy its nostalgic, bittersweet side. Usually the kids and I will gather around and play some retro games. Mario and Streets of Rage 2 and such.

Of course, being in Florida, we don't get snow. We've had a few chilly nights already, though, and we look forward to the weather really changing in the coming weeks.

Yeah, I always get excited for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas but it's always sort of a let-down, too.

We still have Sinterklaas on December 5th, so Christmas only starts after that for me. Tree usually goes up the 6th or that week. I'm not excited for the presents, as we don't so those on Christmas but on Sinterklaas. I do love the decorations, the food and the days off. Can't wait to play some Smash next to the Christmas tree.

Absolutely. There's nothing like the feeling of Christmas for me. Every year I feel it in different ways.

The childlike glee of waking up on Christmas morning to open presents is long gone, but I still like the vibes, colors, music, movies... and until they had to fuck it up this year we were getting a new Star Wars every December, and that felt super appropriate given the season and enhanced the childlike vibes for sure.
I like and agree with this post.

I enjoy Christmas vicariously through my niece.
