Honestly this makes me wish it becomes the kind of chaotic, mindless nightmare that only the game community creates and understands. You kinda read stories like that from old MMOs and it was always cool as hell.
The "not encrypted" shit especially seems to have been proven wrong already.

I'm so upset, I've played and loved every Fallout game available for console (from Fallout 3 onwards). I have bobbleheads, a pip-boy and a Fallout lunchbox on the shelf behind me. But after my soulless experience in the B.E.T.A. I felt I had to cancel, but I can't say I'm happy about it.
That different studio still helped with the netcode of F76, so most of what is in that original reddit post being true seems unlikely.
They can't even refute it outright.

I wish it was at least FO4, it feels like an even worse version, it looks uglier, plays worse, ui is shit in your hands.
I pre-ordered it, I was looking forward to it; I said to myself I don't care about other people in the world I would like FO so much I can wander about in my own head.
Even they fucked that up and I cancelled last night. :(

Chairmanchuck Might wanna add this to the OP, as this post has at least direct Wireshark Screenshots and such.
If only all of these hacking and cheating-related headaches could be solved by... I dunno... letting us play offline?
