Might be obvious stuff for any Muslims or people more knowledgable about Saudi dealings and dictactorship, but Hasan delivers thr rebuke to MBS' "reformer" Vision 2030 in such an entertaining manner. It's creepy how many outlets gave Muhammad Bin Salam fluff pieces when he came over to the USA while one of the worst humanitarian crises and wars occurs in Yemen. Also goes into the tech companies with Saudi shares (Uber, wework, Wag, etc).

Pretty impressed with Patriot Act so far, first episode on Affirmative Action was really good and well researched too.

There is already a thread about Patriot Act if you want to read it but MBS deserves his own thread.

US military CENTCOM apologised for the racist language "Negro blood" showed in the segment.

USA bombs on Yemen (last one was a Lockheed Martin MK82 bomb), no apologies yet.

wow incredible segment.

Hasan is doing his thing here. Had no idea about Saudi money in US Tech industries. And that was a good catchup of the Yemen situation.

Will def be watching his show

Americans even liberal ones don't care about all the brown people being blown up in the middle east. Hell, even in this video one of the graphs Hasan puts up shows that even the vile MBS has not dropped as many bombs as the Obama administration did in 2016. And Obama is celebrated on Resetera because he's cool and smart and speaks nicely. Who cares about all the people massacred under his presidency. Let's never forget that the Yemen bombing was authorized by the Obama administration and it's one of the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. It's MBS's war crime with American bombs and weapons that blow up school buses and murder children.

I love the gasp in the audience when he said Obama has bombed more in Yemen.

"Now's not the time to criticize Obama"

"LOL have fun with 4 more years of Trump then!"

"LoL yeah ok but Trump botched an operation lol"

"But all US Presidents have had imperialistic policies"

BBC has a great investigative documentary called The House Of Saud: A Family At War. It's just 3 episodes, and is essential viewing.

First episode is about Saudi links to fund Sunni terrorist groups like ISIS which would fight against Shia Muslims like Iran, spreading ultraconservative wahhabism across the Arab world, how Zakir Naik (and Peace TV) is tied to the propaganda to influence terrorist attacks, and how the weapons are going to Bulgaria -> Saudi Arabia-> Jordan -> Syria.

I remember thinking Al-Waleed bin Talal was like one of the most powerful people in the world. MBS turned him into a chihuahua.

I hope Hasan Minhaj doesn't step into a Saudi embassy in the near future cause he's definitely on their list.

Agreed. Brilliant, with the right amount of insightful, emotionally and logically true focus.

I don't dislike Trevor Noah by any means, but it feels like he's conciously holding himself back somehow. I can't really put my finger on it.

And any opportunities to expose Mr Bone Saw & company is absolutely needed and welcomed. Don't let these people squirm back into the shadows.

It's absolutely insane this isn't more common knowledge.
Well, the western media in general surely won't say anything about the US president contributing to more bombing.

Just started watching some clips a couple of days ago. He's ridiculously funny but it's amazing how dead the crowd is, though.

Finally started watching this show last night and my goodness what a great thing it is! I love Minhaj's energy throughout it. The editing and presentation are top notch too.

That Between The Scenes or whatever with feminism was the realist shit and I don't know why they don't go into that direction more often.

Hasan's delivery is a turn-off. He often speaks in punch lines, and always asks the audience for affirmation after a joke.

As pointed out America is massively hypocritical and it's infuriating as fuck. People and politicians in this country always going on about 9/11 and fighting 'radical Islamic terrorism' but bend over backwards for SA, then we have the bombing in Yemen, and when immigrants from Yemen come to America to word escape the shit they're going thru, gonna have a bunch of ain't shits crying about all of them pouring in.

America ain't no beacon for democracy, people who still believe that delusion are stupid as shit full stop

Episode has been pulled from Netflix (Saudi Arabia) after government complaints. Unprecedented.

https://www.theverge.com/2019/1/1/18163918/netflix-patriot-act-hasan-minhaj-saudi-arabia-episode

Is it unprecedented? Netflix has succumbed to other countries pressure to remove content before, Indonesia is an example:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/richar...cking-and-hubris-while-doing-business-abroad/

In Indonesia, Netflix ran afoul of the county's film censorship board for disseminating "inappropriate" content. Telkom, Indonesia's state-owned telecom company, blocked Netflix until it agreed to abide by local regulations. Ultimately, Netflix had little choice but to enter into a partnership where Telkom essentially dictates content

The problem is that Americans like to just gloss over this stuff. You cannot ignore America's hypocrisy in supporting tyrants and still try to pretend that they are fighting the good fight because they might also be fighting for whatever cause you do view as worthy to be addressed.

Fortunately it was only pulled from Saudi Arabia. I can still watch it no problem.

Tbh, I'm more surprised it ever aired there in the first place.

Aye, the Gulf monarchies get leery about anyone of Arab descent who is critical of authoritarian regimes or who gets democratically elected (see the smears against Tlaib and Omar, the new Arab-American representatives). They normally like to suppress anyone who looks like their subjects but who is empowered to speak out against them.

Trevor's focus is still to entertain rather than inform the audience.

Stewart blended the two so well I wondered why the show is on Comedy Central at times.

I have no problem with them pulling it in Saudi Arabia. Business is business. At least they only pulled it one region. I'd wager Saudi Arabia asked for it to be pulled everywhere.
