Ben Jealous does not seem to me to be a good politician. I only know the man from his occasional appearances on TV but he never impressed me the way Gillum and Abrams have. I feel like a lot of people have similar impressions which is why I feel Gillum and Abrams have a lot of hype behind them and have attracted so much talent and attention and Jealous has not. I'm not attuned to Massachusetts politics but as an outsider, I don't see or feel much energy for his campaign. Are things different from your vantage point (am I correct in assuming your from Massachusetts?).
IIRC he started off his campaign with a ridiculously stupid error.

I think I'm most hyped for the governor's races this cycle. Just feel like they could be a rout for the GOP in a way the House/Senate couldn't.

Plus unlike Beto who has monumental odds against him, it's looking *likely* that Scott Walker'll lose. Mmm

It's going to be a rout. The question is, like with the House, "How Large?"

As someone following their first election, what would you all recommend for cable news coverage? I'd prefer to avoid the round table punditry, I just want the results as they come in.

Also, how long will it take for the 2020 cycle to start? I understand Trump will continue his rallies and therefore immediately start campaigning which probably makes this a hard question to answer considering we're already in somewhat uncharted territory. When will candidates start to signal/announce?
CNN is nonstop round table bickering on election nights now so if you want to avoid that switch to MSNBC. Mind you they'll also have punditry but they usually don't have 3 - 5 die hard republicans spinning everything for the republicans and trump the way cnn does. Network news will also have punditry but it's usually somewhat toned down compared to the catfights on cnn. PBS's NewsHour will probably have the least of it, but their coverage will be limited to 4 hours.

If you really just care about results you should stick to online sources. Newspapers and tv networks each have their own streams focusing on mostly results. WaPo will be on twitch, YouTube, and Snapchat with just their writers. NYT has a really slick site with live results featuring live maps and the terrifying needle with real time updates as they get the numbers. The news departments of the networks (abc, cbs, nbc, etc...) and CNN have low budget digital only streams usually tracking results as they come in without the pundits featured on the tv broadcast, you can find these on their news apps (abc news, cbs news, etc....). Apple News will also be updated real-time with results from AP if you have an iOS device.

I'd recommend no cable news coverage but if you really need something you could check out c-span. I'd highly recommend keeping an eye on the NYT's Upshot though.

If there's a political podcast you like they'll probably be doing a live show and update with results as they come in.

As for the 2020 cycle who knows but a majority of the 2016 bids were announced in April 2015.

Predictions for the NBC/Marist poll? Seems to be FL SEN, FL GOV, and MO SEN.

I'm in the district to vote for Ammar Campa-Najjar and I hope we get enough to vote that criminal Hunter out. I honestly can't believe it's close considering the people here and the past results. I still think it would take a miracle to get enough votes around here to do it but I know enough good people here to do it. I've always wanted to live in a democratic district

What do I do so I can just wake up at like 9PM tomorrow? I have a job and a wife and a kid, is there like an Uber service to take care of all that?

My first presidential election was 2000. It was an.....interesting experience. I remember waking up the next day and seeing the news and thinking, "Wait, they don't know who won? What is this now?" Things did not get better after that, as you all well know.

2000 was my first election as well and yeah I voted for Gore but had a lot of college friends who voted for Nader :(.

Not sure what to think about this, a friend of mine says a party came to his door canvasing for their candidates, he said he was voting for the other party, and the canvassers left. A few hours later, he gets a door hanger from the same party encouraging him to vote for their candidates but... the precinct information is wrong.

He hopes it was an honest mistake, and having worked on campaigns before, I can definitely see a volunteer getting the wrong pack of pre-printed doorhangers (personally, it's for that exact reason that I wouldn't print precinct info on handout literature, I would have information on where they could look up their precinct.) It's probably nothing, but like I said, I'm not sure what to think of it. I usually give the benefit of the doubt on this sort of thing unless there's a pattern.

It'd be interesting to team up with another person on the same street and agree to give conflicting information to the canvassers, and see if you end up with different info on the hangers. Heck, if the friend has a not-too-far-gone neighbour belonging to the other party they could compare notes that way.

Senate really could end up 50-50. That plus the house gives a lot of power to Murkowski and Collins. Is McConell even guaranteed being leader at that point?
