Man , I hate Ninja Theory for this. I won't play any of their games, no matter what they do in the future.
This is very condescending. Players have spent their time and money to play their time, at the very least they should acknowledge the problem properly
"A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever."
Wow. It is actually that bad. There is no way i want to support that kind of company. It's kinda contradicting to who i am. It means no more DmC for me :(Presentation for the design ethos of DmC, the Devil May Cry reboot/spinoff game. DmC was developed by Ninja Theory, but I'm not sure who was responsible for that slideshow.
They had slides with examples of what their new version of Dante (the series' main protagonist) would NOT be like, and what he would be like
The image posted earlier was one of the slides, and it has Devil May Cry 4's version of Dante photoshopped into an image from the movie Brokeback Mountain, a movie about two men who fall in love. The image was meant to draw a parallel between those movie characters and the DMC4 Dante to paint the latter's design as a gay cowboy, and it portrayed that as being inherently negative.
In the end, the presentation was antagonistic toward the existing series at best, and homophobic at its worst
this thread has the highest gems per post.
The full quote is something about a secret technique to fill in the gaps in the brain for registering reactions or something (super paraphrased)
"A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever."
I'm probably missing some context. What's going on in this picture? I'm afraid I don't see the offence, but I could be missing something obvious.Man , I hate Ninja Theory for this. I won't play any of their games, no matter what they do in the future.
Hahahahahahaha oh shit I forgot about this. When Payday 2 first got microtransactions (skins with stat bonuses) it got some pushback (there was already a lot of dlc, and the devs had said there would be no MTs in early interviews). I was annoyed but it was okay.
Then the CEO of Overkill (who had been the name on all announcements about the game until then) said that people were complaining, but more people wanted MTs.
I uninstalled the game immediately. I haven't played since really, although I think they mitigated the MTs a bit (they gave stats for a while but no longer iirc).
To this date, this is the reason why I have never, and will never, play Fez. Fuck that racist prick.

Did they even get call out for this?

Edit: I should add that I don't know the game character, so I don't have any context for him. I do know that those are the guys from Brokeback mountain.
"If you dont have access to the internet then we already got a console for you, it's called the Xbox 360"
Reminder that this was a reply to some asshole insulting him, and his ability to make games on Twitter. This was just after Fez won an award and was essentially a "Well they liked it, go suck on it". It wasn't uncalled for, but definitely not a good image.
1, The quoted picture has nothing to do with racism at all.To this date, this is the reason why I have never, and will never, play Fez. Fuck that racist prick.
Is there a link for this?Remember the time Kaz told people he wanted people to work two jobs to afford a PS3.
"for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."
Pokémon Let's Go in general is this, with Masuda pouring more gasoline on the fire with every interview.
Also, not in a good position to get the exact timestamp right now since I'm on my phone, but the "Paper Mario doesn't need to be an RPG because that's already covered by Mario and Luigi RPG" comment from this interview confirmed pretty much everyone's worst fears:
Is there a link for this?
It gets thrown around a lot, but as far as I can tell he never actually said that. The actual quote that comes up seems to suggest people working overtime, which still isn't a good look, but it's far from suggesting that people get a second job.
If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I will give you 1200 bucks for it.
Devs, not posts"A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever."
What is it? A handicap placard for halo ?
This was pretty big back in the old place, I remember. Not the "worst thing said at the worst time", but still applicable. Glad we've moved on from this.
Hahah.
Well, it's nice to see a correction here. I too thought that the quotation used by Scooter is the real one for the longest time, since everybody seem to be using it. Huh, the more you know.
It was just a badly worded, overly antagonistic way of starting his argument. Something Phil unfortunately had a habit of doing quite often ("gamers are the worst fucking people").
A bit of a slow burn, but J. Allen Brack's "you think you do but you dont"
He, Blizzard, and all WoW fans will probably never forget that.
Wasn't poise basically non existent at the beginning of the game life cicle? All the recent moaning about poise in the Dark Souls thread made me remember the time From said poise was "working as intended" when Dark Souls 3 first came out. Que the short lived memes and gamer anger. I think Patrick Klepek even made a article about it when he was at Kotaku at the time.
I gotta come clean here, I too was in the "wtf From" group at the time but now I think the poise works well the way it is now and for the better especially when they put out a patch to tweak it slightly when Ashes of Ariandel came out.
I don't think you've understood the thread. OP was looking for stupid things devs said, not things the majority agree with."A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever."
The context is Ninja Theory wanting to prove that old Dante stands out in more realistic movie settings, necessitating a redesign and art direction overhaul. They had a bunch of examples of old Dante standing out like a sore thumb, including this one. Out of context, the picture can easily come off as "ha ha old Dante is gay", but that's luckily not what this was. If anything, the implication is that new Dante would fit in better in this poster. At the end of the day though, they obviously deliberately picked this movie for a cheap laugh during a presentation, because "ha ha remember that gay movie". That's still disappointing.I'm probably missing some context. What's going on in this picture? I'm afraid I don't see the offence, but I could be missing something obvious.

I actually agree, but at the time he was absolutely villified for that as well.
Paper Mario did use characters mostly from SMW 1&2, though. They just were allowed (or allowed themselves?) more ambition with them.Tanabe: "Aside from wanting us to change the atmosphere a lot, there were two main things that Miyamoto-san said from the start of the project [of developing Paper Mario: Sticker Star] —'It's fine without a story, so do we really need one?' and 'As much as possible, complete it with only characters from the Super Mario world.'"
Tanabe single-handedly made the most hardcore of Nintendo fanboys call for Miyamoto's resignation.
Idk about none existent but it definitely did not work the same as DS1 and DS2 and some people had a hard time dealing with that, me included. Seeing as people were still complaining after the AOA patch I want to say it was maybe buffed from what was already there and not added in after.Wasn't poise basically non existent at the beginning of the game life cicle?
Don Mattrick damaged the Xbox Brand to such extent that even today Phil Spencer has to do a titanic job to turn things around
