Looking for a sad scene
Has anyone encountered the scene in a train station after rescuing the braithwaite grey couple, the nun sister calderon is also there and you will have a little chat. One of the saddest scenes in rdr2. Cant find a video of this anywhere.

So many damn easter eggs in this game. Only came across the wild man that summons a pack of wolves, meteorite crash in the woods and an underground tomb. Was looking into others and there's a damn vampire you can fight can't wait to see what people find.

hey can somebody help me? i just finished the Epilogue and i wonder if i'm gonna be able to complete some of the left side-quests with John! is it possible or should i load another save?
A fair amount of the stranger side quests are available, the Mayor and the Tesla-wannabe professor were both available even though I had already started their sidequests as Arthur. I heard some that are tied to Arthur's character specifically aren't available like the Penelope Braithwaite letter, and I assume Charlotte (I visited her as John and there was a unique cutscene but that was about it).

I really like that there are so many layers to Arthur and John's relation which gradually got revealed throughout the story, especially Arthur's grudge against John at the beginning.
At face value it seemed like Arthur just envied John taking over Dutch's favor from him, then by reading later entries in his journal you realized that he once loved and still cared a lot about Abigail, probably even more than Mary.
Then in Chapter 6 Arthur revealed that he once had a son that got killed by robbers along with the son's mother, all these add so much context to earlier parts like him going fishing with Jack and telling John that he just thought "everything comes so easily to you".

I've said it before in this thread, but I'm really astounded how much I enjoy Arthur and even prefer him as a protagonist to John Marston. Going back to an earlier save and replaying as him really solidified how I feel about him. That's something that I absolutely never would have thought would happen going into this game, even with as high of expectations as I had.

Try reading the OP instead:

The consensus is to Spoiler Tag story spoilers and to use your best judgement if the thing you are spoiling would ruin the narrative experience for players, or simply reveal something minor that doesn't need spoiler tags.

So, KEEP using spoiler tags as the OP says.

No, that was ONLY because this was used as a pre-release hype/preview thread because people didn't want gameplay gifs in the OT or review thread.

This is the fucking spoiler thread. What purpose do you think this thread serves if you're supposed to tag story spoilers? At that point it's literally the same as the OT. The sole reason spoiler threads exist in the first place is that people can have better flowing, more natural discussions about the narrative and story, without having to click tags open all the goddamn time.

Here.

I loved that scene. I started really tearing up when Arthur said he was afraid.

i'm gonna say one more thing since it's really worth it.

anybody else noticed how at the end of Epilogue when you reach the cabin which Dutch and Micah are in, a little rat runs across the floor?

when i saw that my jaw just dropped on the floor, this game has such a great symbolism and i think it was really awesome that they directled that scene like that.

Cinematography at its finest!

I think a lot of people here have never been to a spoiler thread. A mod changing the title would do wonders.

I'm still in chapter 2 but I heard you can play as John when you finish the game, is that true? If it is, can I just do the story missions with Arthur so I can do all the side stuff with John or will I get locked out?

Some side missions are Arthur only, but John can do most side quests

There are a few just for Arthur but I would recommend doing most if not all of the Stranger missions with Arthur. They add a lot to the main story.

Chapter 6 was great. But I think the epilogue was quite too long, and I'm really confused how slow paced it was and how it ended compared to chapter 6.

I think it was fucking stupid how Dutch just left off the mountain and let John pick up 20k dollars like it was nothing. Like what the hell, all the game he's trying to make enough money to leave this country and then you just meet him still in this place and he's giving you all of it. What's the reasoning behind this? I don't buy it that John talked it out of him on that mountain.

Also. Does anyone might share a video where you can see John instead of Arthur in stranger missions cutscenes?

So... Sadie in Mexico or Charles in Canada for Red Dead 3?

I kind of hope R* does neither, and thus they get happy endings by omission, but the groundwork has been laid.

It isn't too out of character for Dutch as we see him in RDR1: A man whose sole motivator is not money, but lashing out at the authorities that have robbed him of his power.

Just watched the ending where you choose to go back for the money rather than helping John escape, it's so much worse. Why would anyone choose that option?

I can't fully express how Rockstar managed to change Arthur from one person in the beginning (middle) to another the end. The transition is so seamless and really well done both story and gameplay wise. Also has any video game before faced your protagonist with a fatal disease or something? Can't think of any to be honest, I'm sure there are plenty ones with kinda fake drama when your hero is about to die but mansges to cure himself and survives. Arthur's fate is so grounded and real.

Seeing Abigail and John overlooking Beecher's Hope at the end made the memory of becoming adult Jack in the first game come straight back to me.

I've been rewatching some clips of the first game's story and this game probably strengthens it, I just wish I could replay a remastered version of it...

It really is great and then you've got Forbes writing an article about wanting a rushed videogamey fatal disease and how it nearly "ruined" the game for them.

If there is an RDR3, I'm hoping it'll be about Jack in the 1930's. Have him completely close off the violence that destroyed Arthur, John, and probably himself.

I haven't finished the game yet (though I have spoiled myself), what I can say in regards to that is that Dutch never cared about really making a better life- in RDR John tells him how "he always has a plan", to be it seems that what Ditch truly cared about, all he really wants is the life of the outlaw. The money never mattered.

Controversial, but I think Red Dead as a series is done. There's only so much you can do with its themes and message, even RDR2 feels like a wee stretch because of how the first game was about the end of the west anyways.

With how long Rockstar takes now to make games, I would be fine if RDR was laid to rest and they just rotated GTA and a new IP. Just look at how many games they released last gen, and take in that RDR2 is their first game this gen, and this gen is almost over so I doubt we will even see another game anytime soon.

I would be down for a RDR remake though, one that incorporates the story and references from RDR2.

The closest thing I can think of is The Walking Dead season 1 when Lee gets bitten. But that is only for one short episode after that. Arthur is sick for hours and hours. It was so tough going through the rest of the game that way.

Jack becoming an outlaw is pretty dumb, you'd think he'd know not to go down that path after what happened to his dad and Arthur. Hopefully the Marston/Morgan story ends and a new RDR focuses on all new characters.

I feel like the only option for a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 would be to go even further back.

You know, when we play it on PS6 in 2035.

Keep thinking about if the only time that Arthur literally broke down into a melancholic moaning was at the death of his horse, makes the scene all the more powerful

I really wish they would have just let you wrap up the epilogue, then throw you back into the open world as a pre-sickness Arthur. I don't mind playing as John, I just really miss Arthur.

Arthur stepping up to Dutch after saving
Marston from Jail
in Chapter 6 was such a great character moment. Dude was literally deteriorating and still told Dutch to fuck off.

I've always thought that one more RDR game would be made, and the setting would take place after the Civil War, ushering the beginning of the wild west.

Arthur dying from TB was...such a surprise I did not see coming. It was refreshing and emotional in so many ways...a disease he brought on himself from beating a man who owed them money half to death. Sinister...and poetic all in one.

We know who survives into RDR so I knew something would happen to Arthur, but I did think for a minute that R* would subvert the "outlaw dies" expectations and maybe have him finally be free at the end and settling down with Mary. They were such a cute couple...goddamnit. Poor Arthur. Redemption indeed.
