Thats def. a way to look at both of these releases heh.

I think it will be huge as an everygreen title because it will be the to go Pokemon console game for the broader casual audience as you said. I dont expect massive first week sales though, we will have to wait for next years Pokemon game to get those.

I think the game is gonna underwhelm frankly. There seems to be no buzz for it. And that's coming off Sun amd Moon which were the highest preordered titles in the series

Its no new main title and on a system with a much lower install base and a higher price point than the 3DS. I dont think anyone is expecting Sun/Moon numbers.

As said...launch wont be too massive, but it will have legs in 2019 boosted by the Switch price drop and summer Pokemon Go months.

Excellent launch for RDR in Spain :

- Biggest non-FIFA launch by far on PS4 (I think even bigger than GTAV given the install base at the time).
- Uncharted 4 for example opened at around half of that (76.5k).
- Possibly biggest 2nd biggest opening on X1 (biggest for non-FIFA)

Switch confirms its software is selling better/on par with PS4 non-Sports game :

- My Hero's One Justice follows Valkyria Chronicles 4 and StarLink (that one is special tho) in the last month or so. Next multiplatform release : Tales of Vesperia (should sell more on Switch imo). It is possible that it is a Japanese games thing but LA Noire also opened higher on Switch along indies games so it is more diverse than that.

--> Regardless, Spain market is healthy and it is a great thing !

One comment from the podcast:
"RDR2 first week numbers are similar to RDR LTD."
Moreover, these numbers are only for retail sales.

"Good, very good, sales during second week" they also said.

- Almost a similar top 5 than last week, CoD X1 went from #3 to #5.
- Status quo to be broke next Monday with the inclusion of RDR2.
- Exact same top 3 for the PS4 and the X1 (CoD, FIFA, AC:O)
- #4 consecutive weeks for FIFA 19 on the Switch top 3.

Looks like Super Mario Party will have a few weeks above MK8 in France. And we'll see how long FIFA stays top 3, but I've heard it's not a great product on Switch so eh

You base that conclusion on niche Japanese games and Starlink? Also you can't ignore the giant sports games they divert dollars and time away from the smaller games. We'll see how close the switch market and PS4 really are when we get the yearly recap.

It is a better product than 18 imo, despite its flaws. Worse than the other versions but still a good football game.

Small numbers.

NSW: 850
PS4 : 575
X1 : 40

My conclusion is not coming from today but from an analysis of software sale during the past year or so.

Sports game are doing way better on PS4, it is a fact. We have numbers for 2K and FIFA.

For JRPGs, I noticed that the Switch userbase resonates with them (Octopath and Xeno sales showed it). They are selling well on PS4 but maybe even better on Switch.

Surprisingly we also had LA Noire selling better on Switch, showing that it is maybe not only a JRPG thing.

I was waiting for multiplat releases to confirm some my intuitions. Comparing by using similar releases is subjective and unprecise so waiting for more data is the reasonable stance.

PS4 software overall will be bigger than the Switch's no doubt because it is getting more games and more bigger releases.
However that's not useful to my point which is to know what games would perform better on Switch or PS4 in case of a simultaneous release.

What? This confirms nothing. Stop comparing bombs to each other. Those where the only new games Switch owners bought, PS4 owners were buying RD2 instead.

By your conclusion, games that sell less than 1000 sell more on Switch while bigger games sell more on PS4.

By your conclusion, games that sell less than 1000 sell more on Switch while bigger games sell more on PS4.

Okay, let's take a look at past multiplat releases :

Opening better on PS4 :

- FIFA 19 (215k vs 8k)
- FIFA 18
- 2K19 (17,7k vs 800)
+1 Sim racer that I forgot the name

--> Sports game performing way better

Opening better Switch :

- Sonic Mania (6750 vs 3000)
- Sonic Forces (3000 vs 1750)
- LA Noire (1840 vs 1631)
- Starlink (1700 vs ) --> that one is special
- My Hero One's Justice (1000 vs 800)
- Valkyria Chronicles 4 (925 vs 575)
+ indies like Owlboy.

Like I said, we'll need more data/time to make a definitive statement. However given other games release it is reasonable to say that games in established/yearly/sports franchises like FIFA, CoD will do better on PS4, that JP games & indies are doing better on Switch (Tales Vesperia will be next imo).

We'll need more time/data to know about games that don't fit in either of these categories. Spain market has always been very strong for portable platforms and for PS so it is not surprising that both are doing very well software wise.

To be fair, the Switch has been left out multiple big multiplatform games. Besides the Sonic games, most of the games you mentioned that are selling better didn't sell well at all.
Would Switch sell on par or better if it had RD2, Assassins Creed, and all the bigger games. I doubt it.

The user is actually comparing things we have data for, i dunno why dismiss it mentioning things we dont have data like a potential RDR2 switch version

True he is but then jumping to conclusions about all software(excluding sports games). And we are allowed to discuss why we would disagree with his theory. Which is funny when we are asked every week to look at "context" when discussing switch game sales.

I precised my point a little bit later. Even though we lack data about it we can expect other kind of games to sell better on PS4 like CoD/Battlefield etc.

We are still in uncharted territory for the most part tho.

User Banned (3 days): Console wars, thread derail

I wouldn't really say pretty impressive when it's heavily bundled and it was selling for £35 and under this week.

Spidey actually moved up though this week and selling better than AC after more weeks on the chart and still full price. I'd call that more impressive and worthy of a tweet.

Well when they are comparing the games that came out at the same time, with one that's been discounted and bundled hard, I don't believe it's a good or fair comparison. Forza has done great but it's being helped a lot harder than AC is.

Forza is available on one platform, the weakest platform between the two home consoles in the UK, Odyssey is a multiplatform game and AC is WAY more popular than racing games, and you are here talking about "help".

Hey Bruno MB

Do you have any estimated numbers for how is Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy doing in the UK so far? (combined with the PS4 release from last year, was reported to have sold about 600K officially)

Hell, it's even on an under £10 a month service digitally, so it's even competing against itself

Except Spider-man can't be accessed via a $10 sub that can be cancelled at any time so naaahhh.
